Question:  how do you make a political scandal go away?

Well, first you work out a sweetheart plea agreement that doesn’t even touch on the scandalous part of what took place.  Then you announce it in conjunction with a major holiday, preferably one in which most people are outdoors grilling hot dogs and not paying much attention to the news.  The Fourth of July is ideal for such a plan, as patriotic Americans who normally would be paying attention to politics are, ironically, the ones most caught up in celebrating with their families.

If you are the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, you sneak out a press release with a generic, blah-vanilla headline such as “Virginia Man Pleads Guilty to Making False Statements on Application for Home Equity Loan.”

That took some skill –- one can’t even tell that this headline refers to the resolution of the Imran Awan case.  Recall that Awan was the IT aide to Florida Congresswoman and former DNC boss Debbie Wasserman Schultz and about 45 other Democratic members of Congress, including members of the House Intelligence and Foreign Affairs committees.  Though he’d never been officially vetted for a security clearance, he’d been given essentially unrestricted access to their email and other electronic files.  Numerous members of his family were mysteriously on the government payroll, too, also without security clearances or degrees in IT, some pulling down highly questionable salaries.  When allegations were raised, his wife went home to Pakistan; he wasn’t quite fast enough and was intercepted while trying to flee the country as well.

Astoundingly, the press release announcing Awan’s plea deal made no mention of Wasserman Schultz or of his IT work for the Democrats.

President Trump must have been consulting his crystal ball about a month ago when he tweeted, “Our Justice Department must not let Awan and Debbie Wasserman Schultz off the hook.  The Democratic I.T. scandal is a key to much of the corruption we see today.  They want to make a ‘plea deal’ to hide what is on their server.  Where is Server?  Really bad!”

 TRENDING:  Democrat insanity is coming

Trump was downright psychic with his reference to a plea –- they gave Awan one heckuva deal, even announcing that they had “uncovered no evidence” that he had “violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems.  The deal also specifies that he won’t be charged with any nonviolent crimes he might have committed in Washington prior to the agreement.  (I am not kidding.)  According to Luke Rosiak at the Daily Caller –- who has really been on top of this story –-  this benign conclusion is at odds with that of the findings of an IG appointed by Nancy Pelosi, the House’s top law enforcement official, its sergeant-at-arms, and the statements of multiple Democratic aides.  But that doesn’t matter; the allegations have been effectively buried.

Oh, and another thing you do to make a scandal go away is accuse the other side of bigotry.  In this case, Awan’s attorney, Christopher G. Gowan –- who happens to be a former aide to Bill and Hillary Clinton –- described the charge against Awan as “clearly a right-wing media-driven prosecution by a United States Attorney’s Office that wants to prosecute people for working while Muslim.”  Wasserman Schultz used the same strategy, keeping Awan on the payroll for six months after he’d been banned from the congressional computer system by Capitol police because, as she said, he was “put under scrutiny because of his religious faith.”

It also helps to have a sympathetic judge.  Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, appointed to the DC District Court by President Obama in 2014, was once a partner in the same firm that represented Huma Abedin in the investigation of Hillary’s email server.  She’s been a vocal opponent of Trump’s travel ban and ordered the Trump administration to provide abortions to two illegal immigrants.  She postponed Awan’s hearing in U.S. District Court six times.

Well, if you ever wanted to know how to bury a political scandal, now you know how it is done.  In case you were one of those patriotic Americans out grilling hot dogs last week and you happened to miss the Awan story, here’s Luke Rosiak’s detailed wrap-up.  If you’re like me, it’ll make you steamier than one of those dogs.

This is outrageous!!! I'm so dreamed my cooked button popped and hot dogs dont have them! So nothing ever gets done? No one answers for this corruption? Is this another of Jeff Sessions sliding under the fence?? Maybe Joe Blow should head the AG office. At least we can see the forest for the trees and have nothing on our past to cover over.

This story really needs some prime time coverage. Was he part of the Russia probe? Debbie Shult gets off free as well? Sarah Carter and Sean Hannity need to expose this injustice to the American public. No wonder I hadn't heard anything about this.

Why does't the ethics committee fine Wasserman Schultz for her involvement in paying these it people after they were clearly fired? Matter of fact why don't they do anything for the outrageous behavior of Dems that call for disrupting Trump supporters and citizens?

D.C. is no longer a Swamp it's an over full Septic Tank, where if your NOT connected you better live the life of a Monk if your a Conservative, or your guilty until you can afford to Prove your Innocence, and with the $1000.00/hr shysters to defend you better be well healed or endowed. An EMP is looking better every day. I'm not a Robot -I'm a retired disabled Naval Veteran!

There is no justice in Washington D.C., the most corrupt city in the world. It doesn't matter what party you are affiliated with or not affiliated with, they all protect each other. They also have the MSM on their side. Washington is out of control and our last recourse was the ballot box, but right now they, the creatures who inhabit the swamp, are starting to take our votes away from us. Always remember the age old adage, the squeaky wheel gets greased first. Also remember there are two indoctrinated generations who will be taking over.

WHO, if anyone is taking all this into account and keeping records of it and what, if anything, is going to be done about it? Statistics, statistics, statistics without one word about bringing these criminals to justice. How is it that WE THE PEOPLE are just supposed to keep putting faith and trust into a system that keeps letting criminals get away with so much corruption? When will the powers that be finally say, 'OK, that's enough, we're pulling the plug, it's time to set all of this to rights"? WE THE PEOPLE are waiting.

And where was our worthless attorney-general Jeff Sessions while these crooked rulings were being made?

If Sessions is drawing a salary, that salary is not being earned.

This makes me sooooooooo angry...and honestly, it is making me sick. Because I have nowhere to direct my anger, it stays bottled up, literally making me sick. I have been advised by my doctor to stop watching the news, such as it is. But I can't help myself.

I just want to know who is being paid off to cover up this story? What political machine is at work here? How do these political elites keep getting off the hook for these major crimes against WE THE PEOPLE? Frustrating to say the least!

Thank you for your thought-provoking articles. They're always a pleasure to read!

As you mentioned in your article, the president tweeted about Awan & Debbie Wasserman Schultz (on June 7th). If the president is tweeting about Awan & Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the server, it is guaranteed that Sessions and Huber are on the case!

Notice in this video at the June 6 FEMA meeting, just after the 1 minute mark, President Trump and Vice President Pence sent a signal by taking their water bottles off the table and placing them on the floor:

“Wasser” in German means water. Debbie Wasserman Schultz wanted a plea deal. So, in other words, by taking the “water” off the table, they were signaling that there will be no plea deal for her. President Trump doesn't need a "crystal ball". He and his team know exactly what's going on, and how to handle it, months ahead of time.

When you want to catch bigger fish, you use smaller fish. When you want to catch a wild animal, you sneak up on it, or set a trap.

Imran Awan could have been charged with theft of government property, espionage or other crimes but he pled guilty to bank fraud [a relatively small charge]. When you cooperate with investigators, you get a plea deal. Awan has likely provided testimony about the Democrats who hired him. Think about the gravity of the Awan scandal and if it would make sense to have the case against the Democrats who hired him litigated in D.C. Could objective Grand Juries be empanelled? [no] What about judges and prosecutors? [no]
"Think logically. Thin[k] IG report. Think what's missing. Do you think this was going to be litigated in this setting? Case that implicates some of the most senior elected officials (treason) is being handled by the appropriate office. Think NATIONAL SECURITY." (I'll leave it up to you to guess who said that).

What was missing from the IG Report? The prosecution of people who were involved in corruption! The prosecution is coming, but it can’t be litigated “in this setting” D.C. - in the swamp.

It must be done somewhere else by someone who is prosecuting things that are related to the IG Report - that would be John Huber, out in Utah. Jeff Sessions chose to prosecute the swamp outside of DC, where fair trials could be conducted. [ ]
It’s possible that the prosecution of those who hired the Awans is being handled by John Huber. But since the charges could involve treason, it’s equally possible that the prosecution will be done in a military court. That approach would avoid problems with media coverage. It is suggested that the Awan prosecution has been delayed to move it closer to the midterms. The Awan scandal involves matters of National Security. That means evidence has to be presented so as not to compromise sensitive information, sources or methods. We don't want the big fish to get away on a technicality.

Rest assured, this entire case is being handled with the utmost care.

So, when will the DOJ file federal charges for mishandling classified information to Anwan?

Any thinking person realizes the Clinton family members will never spend a day in prison despite all of the breast beating and righteous indignation. However, it gives one pause to wonder just how low the DOJ bubble of protection extends to the supporting cast members! It’s hard to have any faith in the justice system. Jeff Sessions lack of leadership has been a continuing disappointment.

Yet another case of justice looking at who you are connect with as opposed to the evidence of wrong doing. Maybe besides draining the swamp we need to re-adjust that blindfold that is supposed to cover "Lady Justices" eyes.

Please, Governor Huckabee, how do we go about getting this addressed? Seriously? I have sent complaints to the DOJ and FBI on this kind of stuff before, and all I hear is crickets. Between Imran, Debbie Schultz, Huma Abedin, the Clinton's, and frankly President Obama and most of his cronies, they have acted or provided actors who have committed treason against our country. At the least, it is corruption!! These are government files, classified e-mails, meeting on Tarmacs about cases with people who would otherwise be prosecuted. How do we individual citizens get heard? It's time to stop talking about it and DO something. You know how governments work. How do we "peacefully" get heard?

This is so sickening. If you had not explained this I probably would not have caught it. This past administration was so dirty and underhanded. They know how to take care of their own disgusting people who helped with their dirty work. I am thankful we have a president who will stand for what is right. Someone needs to drain the seamp, one creepy leech at a time. Thanks Huckabee

It's absurd that the local police "accidentally" gave the evidence to the defense attorney rather than the prosecutor, and poof .. the evidence no longer exists after some more Bleach Bit and hammers. I think this should be appealed or I'm afraid vigilante justice will begin to occur from lack of real justice in America. The Democratic party has committed too many crimes yet not only do they get away with it, they somehow still get to bully the American people while selling out the country and trying to bring back slavery at every turn. They are pure evil as Podesta's emails show Hillary's campaign worshipping Molech, aka the golden calf from Mount Sinai. Mad Max said "god" was on their side .. yes, Paul said Satan is the hod of this world and that is who is feeding their hatred. There's no room to negotiate left with such evil.

Well , as usual , nothing will happen . I can't make it happen . I can complain to my Rep , my Senator , and nothing will happen . I can voice my opinion here , and other places , Face Book , Twitter , And you know what ? Nothing will happen . All I do is get myself upset over this article and other ones that you write , that's the only thing that will happen . Now you can label me anything you want , but one thing that I am ,is a realist . I've danced to these tunes for soooo long that I know all the steps . I'm 76 and I've grown tired of all this bull shit .
