PRAYERS FOR PEACE
Our prayers for peace to come back to Kenosha, Wisconsin, which has been struck by violent protests, rioting, and fires in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old black man. He’s hospitalized after being shot several times when he reportedly resisted arrest and leaned into an SUV with his children inside. It’s a terrible situation, and certainly the last thing we needed at this time. We also pray for Blake's recovery.
The next-to-last things we needed were a bunch of politicians rushing to judgment to accuse the police of being racists before there was an investigation, and a mob of radicals burning down the town in the name of “justice.” If an investigation finds that the shooting was due to poor training or excessive force, then there should be a price to pay. But “justice” isn’t achieved by stirring up more racial divisions before you know the facts, or by allowing rioters to burn down and loot businesses that had nothing to do with it.
Those who presume to know the motives of the Kenosha police should also know that just hours before in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, three officers were seriously wounded in a very similar situation when two suspects leaned into their car, then turned around holding guns they’d retrieved and started firing.
EMERGENCY USE APPROVED
Sunday, President Trump announced that the FDA had okayed emergency use of convalescent plasma treatment for COVID-19. It involves injecting coronavirus patients with the liquid portion of blood containing coronavirus antibodies. Trump said studies have shown it can reduce the coronavirus mortality rate by 35% in patients under 80 and called it a “major advance.” He urged anyone who had been diagnosed with it and recovered to go to coronavirus.gov and sign up to donate plasma.
Naturally, by the next day, some news outlets were already running stories downplaying the effectiveness of the treatment. It’s too bad; think how many people might have been saved if only Trump hadn’t praised it.
Late-stage Trump Derangement Syndrome does terrible things to the brain. Monday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went on an insane rant, blasting Senate Republicans as “enemies of the state” and “domestic enemies to our voting system” because they aren’t going along with her $25 billion emergency funding bill for the Post Office and think (correctly) and voting by mail is a recipe for fraud. Pelosi thinks this is an emergency because she believes (as the media like to say, “without evidence”) that President Trump is trying to rig the election by sabotaging the Post Office and stealing all the mailboxes that ballots might be dropped into.
As the Postmaster General has explained, the removal of underutilized mailboxes has been going on for years, and all efficiency measures have been delayed until after the election, since government efficiency seems to panic Democrats. Also, the Post Office is fully funded through 2021 and doesn’t need emergency funds. Americans suffering through endless coronavirus lockdowns, mostly in blue states, do need emergency funds, but the Speaker can’t be bothered to pass that. I understand she’s already preoccupied with a new crisis: Trump is trying to undermine the election by stealing socks from her dryer.
Remember what we’ve learned from Joe Biden and the Democrats: We must always trust “science!” Scientists are always right, and if they say we need to shut down the economy for months, then we have to do it because to question the science is to be a “science denier” since science never changes with the discovery of new facts.
Oh, by the way, you know all those coronavirus antibody tests that the Dems made such a huge deal over? Turns out they’re pretty much pointless.
Of all the debunked lies about Donald Trump repeated at the Democratic Convention, the most prominent and inexcusable had to be Joe Biden’s claim that he decided to run for President upon hearing Trump say there were “very fine people” among the violent neo-Nazis in Charlottesville. In fact, Trump never said that (he said he was sure there were very fine people on both sides of the debate about removing Confederate monuments, but the white nationalists and neo-Nazis should be “condemned totally.”)
So Trump never defended the white nationalists in Charlottesville. But here’s a fact: the organizer of that rally just endorsed Joe Biden:
CONSPIRACY THEORY CHECK
A reader commented that during Biden’s convention speech, his breast pocket handkerchief had three points and he was wearing a flag pin, but afterward, there was no flag pin and only one handkerchief point; a clue that the speech was prerecorded. But we checked the video on YouTube, and the handkerchief and pin remained unchanged from the speech through to Biden watching the fireworks show.
So we rule that there’s nothing there. Although it was nice to see Democrats shooting off fireworks that weren’t aimed at police officers.
Congratulations to Danbury, Connecticut, for its new tourist attraction: the John Oliver Memorial Sewage Plant:
Now, where do I go to see the Stephen Colbert Toxic Waste Dump? Oh, that's right: weeknights on CBS.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
In case you missed it: The Trump White House released an aggressive agenda for a second term. Here’s a closer look at what Trump wants to do, and let’s hope he gets a GOP House so it can actually be done.
Wonder why leftists like then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris were so desperate to prosecute, gag and imprison the undercover reporters who exposed Planned Parenthood? To keep things like this from ever being seen by the public:
Check out the newly-unsealed video of Planned Parenthood employees admitting in testimony under oath that they used paperwork loopholes to evade federal felony charges for performing partial-birth abortions, and how they alter abortion procedures to harvest higher-quality human body parts to sell to testing labs.
Speaking of Kamala and abortion, in 2018, she put out this outrageous tweet: “We must keep fighting to defend and expand on the progress made for women’s rights and reproductive health, not pass a 20-week abortion ban.”
That tweet has since racked up a number of responses, many from parents posting photos of their 20-week-old babies in the womb or born alive prematurely.
