STEELE TESTIMONY: FBI COORDINATED CLOSELY WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT IN 2016
The British civil lawsuit by executives of Alfa Bank wrongly tied to a bogus "Russia" story is still going on, and THE EPOCH TIMES has obtained a recent transcript of Christopher Steele's testimony in that case. It suggests an even closer coordination between the FBI and the State Department in the attempt to tie Trump with Russia. With the Durham investigation locked down tight, this lawsuit offers further insight into what the intel bureaucracy was up to in 2016.
With so many people being "canceled" for refusing to mouth self-incriminating left Newspeak, this is a report from someone who fought back in academia and won (at least for now.) It's a Must-Read for its "Know Thy Enemy" value.
UPDATE ON ENVIRONMENTALIST STORY
Just hours after posting the article written by a prominent environmentalist apologizing for all the alarmism, Forbes took it down from the website. It must've alarmed too many people.
CORONAVIRUS UPS AND DOWNS
A number of states are bringing back restrictions and ordering bars closed and restaurant capacities reduced in the face of a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 (Chinese) coronavirus cases. (Note: I’ve already talked about how increased testing results in more cases, and even as the case numbers rise, fatalities are falling, which suggests that the virus is not as deadly as initially feared.) This prompted Joe Biden to claim that President Trump has “surrendered” to it. (He also called a reporter a “lying dog face,” but we’ll ignore that.)
Seldom do we see such perfect examples of the left’s habit of accusing others of doing what they have actually done. We don’t need movie theaters to open; the Democrats are doing more than enough projection.
Bar owners were just beginning to try to salvage their businesses, and they’re angrily pointing out that the same politicians who are shutting them down again just recently allowed massive gatherings of people in the streets to protest racism and the police. The officials not only condoned those super-spreader events, they encouraged them, participated in them, and over a thousand alleged “health professionals” signed an open letter claiming that protesting racism (and I’m sure coincidentally harming Trump’s reelection chances) was more important than stopping the virus. Either that, or they believed that the virus was a registered Democrat and would only spread at Trump rally venues and for-profit businesses.
That’s the point at which they flushed away their credibility by politicizing the pandemic. They can impose lockdowns by force, but they can’t force people to believe anything they say from this point on. Nobody wants to admit that the virus is here, it’s already spread far and wide (which is what viruses do), and further lockdowns and contact tracing at this point are likely futile. Politicians also can’t admit that the people are so fed up with them that they’d rather take their chances with the virus than deal with their “solutions” for another minute.
Now, here’s a story that claims the cases are being traced back to parties, not protests (although at least in New York, officials didn’t allow tracers to ask if anyone had attended a protest.)
On the other hand, here’s a chart from Instapundit.com, tracking the case levels in Austin through the opening of stores, restaurants, salons, bars and gyms.
Note that there was only a slight increase and then cases started to fall. But then came all the protests. A week or so later, case numbers took off like a rocket. Here are some similar numbers from Houston that suggest that bars are not the culprit.
And an executive at a Texas ER chain went on record as saying that there are more cases because they’re doing so many more tests and finding people with mild or asymptomatic cases. He says they see thousands of patients a month, and most get antibiotics and a steroid shot and are feeling fine in 3 to 5 days. He also says that hospital discharge planners are under pressure to list COVID-19 as the primary cause of hospitalization because it pays significantly more.
But to listen to Democrats like New York Gov. Andrew “Put all the COVID-19 patients into nursing homes” Cuomo, the problem is that those dumb Republican red state governors let businesses open too soon. The same Governor who threatened lawsuits early on if anyone banned travelers from his virus hotspot state is now requiring quarantines of people coming into New York from other states.
As Kyle Smith at the New York Post points out, Cuomo is taking victory laps over his handling of the virus and trying to spike the ball in the face of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, even though Florida has a bigger population than New York and one-third as many cases. The fatality rate in Florida is 15 per 100,000; in New York, it’s 160 per 100,000.
As for Trump doing nothing, the head of one health care company said he had never seen such a massive, swift and efficient public/private team effort as the White House coronavirus task force, yet Joe Biden claims he would have handled it better. But when Trump was shutting down travel from virus hotspots, Democrats were calling him racist and xenophobic and urging people to continue attending large public events in San Francisco and New York City. They also blame Trump personally for all 124,000 Americans who died from (or more precisely, with) the coronavirus, yet give him zero credit for the difference between 124,000 deaths and the 2.2 million they initially predicted.
Finally, if you’d like a laugh, check out how far the “fact-checkers” at Politifact had to bend over backward to deny Trump’s claim that Biden accused him of racism and xenophobia for cutting off travel from China when the virus first arose. If you can read Biden’s comments and not infer from them that he would’ve left the borders wide open for anybody to come in and sneeze up the place, then you have a reading comprehension problem.
JUST WHAT THEY WANTED
There’s another disease coming out of China’s pig farms that could turn into a second pandemic. At least we know about this one early, which will give our officials time to take care of the most important job of all: coming up with a name for it that doesn’t suggest in any way that it came out of China. I suggest “Arkansas Razorback Fever.”
Joe Biden raised eyebrows yesterday when a reporter asked about his reported cognitive decline and he denied it, saying he is “constantly tested” for cognitive decline.
It has people asking, “Why do the Democrats think it’s necessary to test him constantly for cognitive decline?” Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s suffering from it. Just like getting an STD test doesn’t mean you’re promiscuous, but if you get one every day, people do start to talk.
TRUTH DOESN'T MATTER
Michigan State University has forced Stephen Hsu to resign from his position as vice president of research and innovation because he quoted Michigan State research that found that police are not more likely to shoot black suspects. Anyone in his position in a modern university should have known that research now starts with deciding what you want to believe and working backwards from there.
