It’s taken as an article of faith among atheists that America, like much of Europe, is becoming more secular and gradually abandoning its religious faith. Well, just as it was 2000 years ago, reports of the death of Christ will have to be retracted.

As noted by Glenn Stanton of Focus on the Family, studies by Harvard University and Indiana University Bloomington discovered that religious faith is just one more way in which America is an exceptional nation. The idea that people are abandoning the Christian faith is based on losses of membership among large, mainstream churches. But it turns out that people aren’t abandoning religious faith, they’re just switching to smaller, independent churches. The study authors say the percentage of Americans who believe in the Bible, attend church more than once a week and pray daily has remained “patently persistent” for the past 50 years. And here’s a stat that might shock you: the percentage of Americans relative to overall population who attend church regularly today is four times greater than when America was founded in 1776.

Americans are also exceptional for the intensity of their beliefs: for instance, one in three prays multiple times a day, compared to an average of one in 15 in other nations. Three times the percentage of Americans attend church weekly than in the average industrial nation. And a third believe the Bible is the actual word of God, compared to fewer than 10 percent in other comparable countries.

And that intensity of faith isn’t dying out, it’s growing. Since 1989, the percentage of Americans who belong to a religion and who adhere to strong religious beliefs and practices has grown from 39 to 47 percent. One more very important point: these people tend to have more children.

Check out the link to the original article in the Federalist for the impact this is already having on elections and the growing effect it’s likely to have in the future (hint: atheists don't have a prayer.) As those of us who are pro-life like to note, the future belongs to those who are able to show up for it.

I believe many of our young people are leaving the main line churches because they have become to political. My husband has heard other pastors say the bible needs to be brought up to the times. You can't change God's word to make what you want it to be. Our children we raised United Methodist. Today none of them are in that church. Some are in another denomination and one goes no where because of all the political stuff in churches
    This is so very sad.

It makes sense to me that if there are more Christians then there must be less Democrats. Does this seem correct to you?

A proposal to the UN for a statue honoring the retirement Cecile Mengele to stand alongside statues of Pol Pot and Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Adolph Hitler in the Garden of Genocide in CA is appropriate, it seems to me.

I personally am a firm believer in Jesus Christ (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and accept the true word of the Bible from cover to cover. My faith gives me freedom because I understand the truth. I belong to a Evangelical Lutheran church. For a long time we didn't see many young folks coming in and we had more gray heads in the services than youth. That began to change not that long ago and now we have more young folks with young children attending. It's wonderful to hear the young kids in church and it's really great to know that the church does in fact have a future.

Thank for this report on Christianity in America. I am not a pastor, but I am a committed follower of Christ. My thoughts about the so called 'mainstream' churches losing members is because they are embracing the garbage the world is feeding us. Smaller churches, and those larger mega churches who embraced the teachings and gospel of Jesus Christ, are thriving. The opportunity's to share that gospel are the best I've experienced in my 71 years of living in America, and it is the most needed time as well. Thank you for your work sir, so refreshing!

From Harvard no doubt, good. Leadership around the world is taking note, even with Puttin embracing the Orthodox Christian church now. China suppressing the Christian faith due to effects globally. Our brand/type of Liberty and freedom being the key elements of influence, regardless of debates among Christian denominational secs. Over 60% of socialist in America come from the teachings of the protestant clergy, which genders to bondage and doubt. As a Baptist pastor I'm sure you are aware of the doctrinal differences which cause this type of division in the church at large. Sound words within those 85 pages that the apostle Paul wrote, as also the apostle Peter stated they are hard to be understood by some. God Bless and Semper Fi

I know your statements are right because our family is part of your statistics I was never in church until about a year after we came to Arkansas. I was driving a truck for a local logger and a tornado hit the church he and his family attended,it was only natural he had the equipment that was needed. The tornado hit on sunday night and they were in a meeting to decide which of their trees to take out the meeting ended and God showed them which trees He took out, getting back to my story Mon. AM we were there with logging equipment taking trees off the church roof, and that's when I was asked to church 24 yrs.ago and still there and since a lot of our family living in Illinois has started to church. Also I live up here in your old turkey hunting area between Fox and Timbo.

    Why this is important.

Our Christian values must be restored in this nation. Our constitution does not protect or acknowledge foreign cults, foreign tribes or foreign nations period. Just the way it is for good reason.

We recognize no sovereign but God and no King but Jesus.

Hope you have heard of an organization called Christian Union. It has active and dedicated chapters at all the Ivy League colleges and at Stanford. Excellent organization. Also, take a look at View From The Top by Lindsay. Excellent book about the nature of leadership in America and developing more ethical leadership. By a man with a strong heart for Christ. Blessings.

Our prayers are for God to use the president and vice-president to turn this great country back to it's Christian roots. I believe this is occurring in our country at this time. The meeting that Pence had in Israel was soothing to my soul. President Trump's reinforcing this country's values is the most important part of his seat. I may be wrong, however, I feel that the large amount of people in this country do not have the same values or convictions of our country. They seem to come to this country from countries that are third world and have more of a dictatorship than liberties and in return they use the same type of force they were under to make our country do what they want. Prayers are needed so the president and vice-president can do the work they are intended to do.

Praise the Lord! I'm so glad to hear the good news! I have changed to a small church though it is Conservative Baptist yet, I have two brothers who are pastors in PA and both of their churches are non-denominational, but preach the Word and the people are strong believers.

I have been a follower of Christ since 1987 but I have left the church for a season. I really want a small home church since the whole purpose of church is to learn, pray and fellowship. I attended small and large churches and found its pretty much the same. Little growth in churches. Tithes are pushed big but what do we really do? I have seen the people in the church hurting and little is done to help the saints. But my faith has never waived, I love the Lord Jesus, pray and read my Bible and try to do this daily. Large churches blast you with music that is harmful to hearing and when they are told, totally ignore it. Mark Taylor( has Prophecies on his site and I personally know Mark. He has said God told him judgement is coming to the church and to the system in America for their evil and corrupt ways. We see this happening. I went on a TV fast for about 1year or so and just read my Bible and listened to the old gospel on Radio. When I did come back, I was shocked at what I heard being preached on TV. Half truths and totally ignorant of the Holy Scriptures. So now I am careful when I listen to preaching since so many are not giving us meat but milk or worse yet , the doctrine of the enemy. God bless you Gov. Huckabee, for you are a giant of a man for Jesus! Tricia

Mike, I don't understand why you, Trump and other conservatives continue to rely (and spread their words!) on poll results as legitimate. When I consider how Brexit, the Presidential election and so many other events were COMPLETELY wrong in the poll results, I truly just wish people would stop giving credence (and money!!) to these polls.
Other than this dislike, I LUV your show (thank you for allowing your guests to talk w/out you interrupting them!) and this newsletter which I've forwarded to others asking them subscribe if they're wanting an honest and reliable news source. Hopefully they've joined!

Gov. Huckabee: The main problem in Christianity today is that Demonizations, Churches, and individuals do not follow the Word Of God. Some support evolutopm, gay marriage, abortion, transgenderism & homosexuality which is a mental and spiritual illness, and some do not think that the Bible is the Holy Spirit inspired infallible and inerrant written Word of God. The Word is Jesus. So with so many different personal views about God it is no wonder that the youth are having a problem with it. A Perfect God has given us His Perfect Written Word. This is a gift from Him as is His one and only Son Jesus. Joe Parker

Mike, I think that as we believers pray, seek God's face, ask Him to intervene for believers and for our country, the Holy Spirit is freed up to do a work in hearts and lives. It is my personal desire to grow closer to God, to be more like Christ, and to have an impact in my sphere of influence. My prayers are with you, and with all my brothers and sisters in Christ, for God's leading, wisdom, protection, and a special sense of Christ's presence in all our lives. May God continue to bless you as you serve Him. Thanks for all you do!

It is the CHURCH (all of them regardless of denomination) that the GOVERNMENT turns to to help with many situations...This POTUS sees the need for faith based access to community needs. We do not attend church, rather to watch service DAILY on TV (Joyce Meyer) which is where we give our tithes and missions as she has an exceptional outreach and mails out her financials every year to all donors.
It's not's a relationship....not just with God, but will all.

Except here in Oregon. We elect all liberals. You are right about the small churches, we have a lot of them.
