Tracking gun purchases

In an ominous sign that America is on its way to have a Chinese-style “social credit system” where the government monitors us and uses the financial system to punish us and coerce us into “approved” behaviors, Discover is about to become the first major credit card to track gun purchases, starting in April.

Lest you think you’ll just use another card, Mastercard and Visa are also planning to do the same. So if I were someone with a lot of capital and a concern for freedom and Constitutional rights, I’d think this was a great time to launch a new credit card that doesn’t act like a little plastic version of “Big Brother” from the novel “1984.” Elon Musk, you helped start PayPal. Here’s a new business opportunity for you…

March is Women’s History Month…

https://womenshistorymonth.gov/

But as many women are starting to notice, thanks to the craven capitulation to radical transgender activists, the honors, rights, records and accomplishments of women are being taken over by biological men who claim to identify as women. In fact, men apparently make so much better women than women do, they’re even taking over Women’s History Month.

Natalie Argyle of the Chicks on the Right blog reports that Hershey’s Chocolate observed International Women’s Day by honoring “trans” woman Fae Johnstone.

And a children’s book series that teaches kids about inspiring women will publish a volume honoring Rachel Levine…

So happy Women’s History Month, women. You had a good run, until men who identify as women started beating all your sprinting records. Some of us are still trying to defend women’s rights, but sadly, those appear on the way to becoming history, too.

“Havana Syndrome”

After years of investigation of over 1,000 cases of so-called “Havana Syndrome” by seven US intelligence agencies, they’ve reportedly determined that it’s “very unlikely” the symptoms were caused by actions of a foreign adversary, possibly with some kind of sonic weapon. One agency abstained from any conclusions.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2023/03/02/intel-agencies-havana-syndrome-n2620144

The Washington Post reported the findings, which have yet to be made public. The agencies reportedly could find no pattern to link the cases, and no forensic or geolocation evidence to suggest that a foreign agency attack was behind them. They did not dispute the claims of the symptoms that the victims reported, just the suggestion that they were caused by foreign attackers.

As you can see at the link, journalist Glenn Greenwald has long called this a fraud that media outlets such as NBC used to smear Trump for allegedly letting Russia attack our diplomats. He said that any “ethical and actual news organization” should admit that they told us a false story for years, apologize and retract it,” and “that they don’t tells you all you need to know about them.”

Interesting

In the first hearing of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, a Johns Hopkins University professor identified the biggest spreader of misinformation during the pandemic. It will come as a shock to a lot of people, but if you’ve been reading this newsletter for a while, not to you.

Another interesting quote that emerged from the hearing was about another little-noted drawback of vaccine mandates: forcing them onto children supercharged the wider anti-vax movement, increasing distrust in government and vaccine hesitancy even for long-established vaccines against diseases like measles, diphtheria and tetanus. Thanks, Dr. Fauci!

Who benefits?

The “Defund the Police” movement has benefited at least one class of Americans: murderers. An analysis of FBI data by the Murder Accountability Project found that the number of murders that get solved has plummeted from 71% in 1980 to only about 50% today, and that’s not just because we no longer have Columbo.

https://nypost.com/2023/02/28/us-homicide-clearance-rate-plunges-to-all-time-low/

It’s interesting to read that story and see all the things that people come up with to blame this on, and even try to spin it as a positive (we’re making fewer arrests for murder because our standards of evidence are higher! Great, murderers are running around loose, but at least we have higher standards.)

But anyone who claims that the recent war on police and slashing of police funding hasn’t led to fewer murders being solved should have to explain why it’s also coincided with there being so many more murders that need solving.

Sorry to report

I’m sorry to have to report that Isaiah Washington, a terrific actor and outspoken black conservative, announced that he is retiring from acting. He says his current Western series “Corsicana” that he directs and stars in will be his final project on screen. And it’s the leftist politics of Hollywood that convinced him to hang it up.

https://www.westernjournal.com/actor-announces-early-retirement-hollywood-order-travel-us-falls-socialism-communism/

He said that after 12 years of fighting the good fight on Twitter, he’s tired and feels the “haters, provocateurs and the Useful Idiots” have won. “I’m no longer interested in the back and forth regarding a ‘color construct’ that keeps us human beings divided nor am I interested in politics or anything vitriolic. I will be traveling this great country before it falls into Socialism and then Communism.” From now on, he says his only public appearances will be posting pictures of his “retirement shenanigans.”

I certainly wish him all the best, and I can readily understand why anyone with his head on straight might want to get out of Hollywood for good. But I hate to see him go, not only because he is such a terrific actor and positive force, but because America desperately needs more conservatives in the arts and entertainment fields.

The unbridled woke leftism of Hollywood not only is poisoning the culture at large, it’s also ruining entertainment. Hollywood used to serve the entire audience because they wanted their products to make money. These days, they seem content with losing billions of dollars putting out flop after flop, as long as it pushes the woke agenda. Latest case in point…

https://www.foxnews.com/media/new-live-action-peter-pan-trailer-shocks-major-character-changes-diversity-nonsense

Meanwhile, indie artists in movies and music are having growing success at serving audiences that are starved for entertainment that either has a more conservative or Christian viewpoint, or that’s neutral in viewpoint but is just fun to watch or listen to. I hope Isaiah Washington considers putting his talent to use there before packing it all in. He could yet get the last laugh on the liberal cry-bullies of Hollywood.

Sorry to hear about Isaiah Washington. The fighting does get tiresome. I'll pray he relaxes a while and then hops back. Our Country is worth it.
