##Appellation##,

Fox Business host Trish Regan slammed President Trump and the GOP tax reform bill because it fails to keep Trump’s campaign promise to do away with the carried interest deduction. That lets investors reclassify their income to pay a lower rate than salaried workers.

I happen to agree with her on this issue, and several others. For instance, I’m disappointed that the bill keeps seven tax brackets. I’m disappointed that they had to strike the clause allowing families to put their own money into education savings accounts for their kids’ schooling. Heck, I’m disappointed that it doesn’t disband the IRS, or scrap the entire horrendous tax code and replace it with the Fair Tax. But in the immortal words of Mick Jagger, “You can’t always get what you want.”

Haley holds the line (correction)

By Mike Huckabee

NOTE:  Yesterday, our newsletter did not include the correct text for this commentary.

As expected, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley vetoed a UN proposal to roll back the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, to prevent heightened violence by Palestinian radicals.  A must-read article for her succinct lesson to our UN critics about how the policy isn’t an embarrassment to the US, the attempt to thwart it is an embarrassment to the UN.  But anyone who would deny the plain truth in a cowardly and ultimately pointless attempt to appease violent radicals deserves to be feel embarrassed.

How Trump won

By Mike Huckabee

We’ve heard tales for over a year about how Trump won the election (or “stole” it from Hillary Clinton).  Now, there’s finally an account from someone who was on the inside and actually knows the truth.  Two of Trump’s former campaign managers have written a new book, “Let Trump Be Trump,” that tells how it really happened, and his critics aren’t going to like the answer.  Hint: it wasn’t thanks to the Russians.

It was due to living on fast food and Diet Coke instead of ever relaxing at a restaurant; to Trump working like a dog 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, while Hillary was hanging out with celebrities, fundraising, taking time off for her health and ignoring and denigrating blue collar voters; and to staffing the campaign with outsiders who were in touch with regular Americans (you know, like a certain young woman who is now his press secretary), not the same Beltway insider “experts” who guided the losing campaigns of McCain and Romney.

Heading for the record books

By Mike Huckabee

A new CNBC survey found that Americans’ confidence in the economy is back to pre-recession levels, and with the Dow gaining over 5,000 points in one year for the first time ever, 2017 is the year when people seem to have finally been able to put that economic disaster behind them.  I’d say that’s because they and business owners have finally put the last economically disastrous Administration behind them, but polls also still show widespread disapproval of President Trump and the GOP tax reform plan (while the same polls show that many don’t even know what’s in the tax plan, they’ve just been told it’s evil.)

Judging from what they say about it, I assume that willfully ignorant group includes Nancy “Armageddon” Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic Congressional leaders.  Also Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Will Bunch, who declared the tax cut to be the worst bill enacted by Congress since the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.  No, Mr. Bunch: letting people keep a little more of the money they earn themselves is not comparable to letting people have their runaway slaves back.  To help you out, I’d list all the other laws Congress has passed that are worse than a tax cut, but I’m afraid I’d run out of pixels.

Christmas miracle

By Mike Huckabee

The massive power outage at the Atlanta airport created a nightmare for thousands of travelers, but it did bring about what some are calling a “Christmas miracle”: to feed the multitudes of stranded travelers, Chick-fil-a opened on Sunday!

Mueller investigation expands

By Mike Huckabee

Are liberals suuuuuuure they want to sic the hounds on every 2016 election figure who ever crossed paths with Putin?  Because look who the latest candidate under investigation for “Russian collusion” is. Bonus irony points: in her book allegedly about “What Happened” during the election, Hillary Clinton blamed both Russia and Green Party candidate Jill Stein for her loss, and thought that anyone who got help from Russian money should be investigated.

For once, I agree with Hillary!  Let’s look into that $145 million that Russians gave the Clinton Foundation.

    Governor,
Re: the comment by Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Will Bunch, who declared the tax cut to be the worst bill enacted by Congress since the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.
Who are the slaves in this case? We taxpayers I think. And if the new tax bill allows a few of us to be fugitives from our federal overseers then so much the better. Not so from Mr. Bunch's perspective. To him the prospect horrifies. We must be returned to our owners and once again labor for the advancement of a progressive agenda.
I say, "Lay down your whip Mr. Bunch, and let us go free... free at last!"
