It’s long been said that Democrats govern like big spending liberals, then go home and pretend to be tax-hating conservatives just long enough to get reelected. Lately, Kamala Harris has taken that to a new level, repudiating every leftist stance she’s ever taken (and that’s a LOT of them) while actually stealing Trump’s proposals, like ending the tax on tip income.

Well, that trend appears to be spreading among other Democrats. The Dems are pouring a fortune into Colin Allred’s Senate race in Texas in an attempt to unseat Ted Cruz. Allred is running ads of him in front of the border wall, claiming he stood up to Joe Biden on border security. In fact, he opposed the wall and called it racist.

Now, Allred is taking so much credit for the CHIPS Act, to bring more tech manufacturing to America, that he’s calling it the “Allred Legislation.” He tweeted that it now goes to the Senate where “Ted Cruz is trying to take credit. Classic Ted, acting like a ‘me guy.’”

One problem: As Brad Slager at Redstate.com points out, the bill originated in the Senate, where it was written by Mark Kelly and…Ted Cruz! It was originally known as the “Kelly-Cruz Act.”

I keep hearing that America is moving more to the left and “progressivism” is what most people want these days. So how come, outside of deep blue dystopias, “progressives” can only win elections by pretending to be conservatives?
