President Trump at CPAC
Saturday, former President Trump gave a speech at the CPAC gathering in Washington, DC, and it was vintage Trump: a lengthy stemwinder that touted the success of his policies, the failure of Biden’s, and his promise that when reelected to the White House in 2024, he will reverse all of Biden’s policies, “totally obliterate the Deep State,” and return America to greatness again. Along the way, there were plenty of patented Trumpian ad-libs and humorous and sarcastic asides.
It was a reminder of why Democrats and the leftist media are so desperate to silence Trump and not let anyone see or hear him directly. They want Americans to forget what he's really like and know only the grossly distorted caricature of a racist, fascist insurrectionist that they've created while trying to prevent us from seeing the real thing.
If nothing else, it was a refreshing reminder that we used to have a President who could actually speak coherently and extemporaneously for over 90 minutes without finishing up by shaking hands with invisible people.
The speech was much too long and jam-packed for me to try to recap, but here is a full video of it, and if you don’t have time and just want to skim it, there’s also a full transcript.
Governor Ron DeSantis at the Reagan Library
Trump’s major rival for the nomination, even though he hasn’t even declared his candidacy, is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He didn’t attend CPAC, but he gave a speech over the weekend at the Reagan Library, an oasis of sanity surrounded by California. Many pundits took it as a trial run for how DeSantis might shape his message in blue states to win more votes there than Trump did in 2020 (of course, Trump was hurt by the pandemic, the relentless media lies about Russia that have since been exposed, and the real “Big Lie” of the 2020 election: that Joe Biden would govern as a bipartisan moderate. None of that would apply in 2024.)
DeSantis contrasted the leftist policies and “woke mind virus” that are driving people out of blue states and to states like Florida that govern by successful conservative principles like Ronald Reagan’s. He also talked about keeping critical race theory and gender politics out of schools, an issue that helped him win a much larger share of women’s votes than Trump did. You can watch that entire speech here:
Related: Speaking of people fleeing Democrat-run cities and states, here are a couple of good examples…
A real estate developer and lifelong native of Portland, Oregon, announced that he’s had enough and is getting out after he came to work to find bullet holes in the glass next to where he normally sits working.
And Mark and Patricia McCloskey gave an interview to Fox News Digital about the “worst days of our lives,” when a Soros-backed D.A. (whom Mark called “as dumb as a sack of hammers”) hit them with felony charges for defending their home from threatening BLM protesters. They say that D.A., Kimberly Gardner, has allowed St. Louis to become “a war zone.”
Isn't it interesting how the same people who came to power by claiming the police are too violent have turned their cities into raging hotbeds of criminal violence?
Attention, President Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland
Is this act of arson against the construction site of a police training center in Georgia finally enough evidence to convince you that Antifa is a domestic terrorist organization? Or do you still think that term only applies to concerned parents, pro-life activists and people who wear red caps and quote the novel, “1984”?
CBS News tries to walk it back
One of the more notorious moments of the 2020 election was Lesley Stahl of “60 Minutes” “correcting” President Trump when he said political opponents spied on his campaign, telling him, “There is no real evidence of that.” We later learned Trump was correct.
As we continue to wait for Ms. Stahl and CBS to give a public mea culpa for that one, they are already trying to quietly back away from their previous dismissal of the possibility that COVID-19 leaked from the Wuhan virology lab.
Maybe they should change the name of the show from “60 Minutes” to “Two Years” because that’s how long it takes them to get a major story right.
Related: Watch red-pilled British comedian Russell Brand on Bill Maher’s show eviscerate an MSNBC analyst for trying to claim it was reasonable to disbelieve the lab leak theory because it was coming from racist and biased sources like Trump and Fox News. Brand said he’d appeared on MSNBC, and it was “propaganda” and “nutcrackery.” When the MSNBC mouthpiece demanded an example, Brand had one ready and threw it in his face. If he had needed any help, he could've called me and I would've given him a couple dozen.
FAA Nominee stumbles over aviation questions
At his Senate confirmation hearing to be the new head of the Federal Aviation Administration, Biden appointee Phil Washington was asked seven questions about aviation that an FAA chief should know. He not only couldn’t answer any of them, he appeared unfamiliar with even the concepts behind them.
Granted, some were the type of questions you’d have to be a pilot or other aviation expert to know, but still…doesn’t running the FAA require an aviation expert?
Just to show that not everyone would have to rush to Google to come up with at least some kind of coherent answers, the Redstate.com writer Bonchie, who is also a pilot and flight instructor, took a crack at answering them off the top of his head and did a whole lot better than Washington. Say, maybe he could take the job and earn the double title of “FAA Director” and “First Competent Biden Appointee.”
Mental Competence Tests
Forget Nikki Haley's call for politicians over 75 to have to take mental competence tests. At least two former White House physicians are demanding that President Biden take one, but Jill Biden responded that the mental competence test idea is “ridiculous” and “We would never even discuss something like that.”
And we should accept her opinion because, unlike those two former White House physicians, Jill Biden is a REAL doctor.
Still, she does have a point: it would be ridiculous to make Joe take a mental competence test because he’d only be taking it if he were running for reelection, and that whole idea is ridiculous.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY:
