Remember when we were told that President Trump pulling out of the UN’s Paris Climate Accords meant the USA was going to embark on a wild spree of spewing poisonous pollution into the atmosphere? A study by the International Energy Agency found that while global CO2 emissions “were unchanged at 33 gigatonnes even as the world economy expanded by 2.9%,” the largest decline in CO2 emissions on a by-country basis wasn’t in any of the nations that remained in the Paris agreement. The leader was the USA, which cut CO2 emissions by 4.8 gigatonnes in 2019, a decrease of 2.9% over the previous year.

https://www.westernjournal.com/even-without-green-new-deal-trumps-america-1-reducing-co2-emissions-2019/

So even as the US economy boomed (and other nations scolded us and asked, “How DARE you?!”), our CO2 emissions dropped while theirs went up. This was largely due to the boom in fracking and natural gas production, which is cleaner than the fuels it’s replaced. That’s the industry that just about every Democrat running for President has vowed to destroy on day one if elected, to “save the planet.

With friends of the Earth-like them, who needs enemies of the Earth?

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

FEATURED COMMENTARY

Trump’s MISTAKE Was Not Firing Colonel Vindman Sooner

By Mike Huckabee

I’m not sure a lot of Americans pay much attention to the chatter-heads on liberal media who hate President Trump so much that they’ve become irrational and hysterical.

When the President dismissed Lt. Col. Vindman and his twin brother from their positions in the White House National Security Council office, you would have thought that the President personally went to their desks, grabbed them by the collar, and boot-kicked them out in 3 feet of snow on the White House Lawn. It was said to be vindictive, outrageous, unprecedented, unpatriotic, and that was just for starters.

Lt. Col VIndman deserves our respect for his decorated military service. What he does not deserve is to be treated like a martyr yanked from duty because he was just doing too great a job. And both he and his brother didn’t lose their paychecks. They went right back to the Pentagon and never missed one day of pay or benefits. What they lost were their positions at the White House on the staff of the National Security Council. My reaction was not to think it so very cruel, but to wonder why it didn’t happen sooner and why aren’t there more being ushered out the door.

Vindmam was a hold-over from the Obama administration. In sworn testimony before Congress several months ago, his direct supervisor complained of Vindman failing to follow the proper chain of command and seeming to think that the President ought to be taking more policy advice from him.

There are 2 kinds of government employees—there are civil service employees who supposedly are politically neutral and who have jobs from which they can almost never get fired—even when they should be. To fire one of them requires “cause.” And that cause has to be something criminal, aggresiously unethical, or grossly insubordinate. And it’s still VERY hard to get rid of them. Then there are those employees who have jobs defined as “serving at the pleasure of the President.” That’s a broad definition but it means these are political appointees and can be terminated without cause. It’s literally at the “pleasure of the President.” And if he has no pleasure with such a person, they can be frog-marched off the grounds because of what they ordered at Waffle House. No reason has to be given.

When I was governor, I oversaw over 70,000 employees. Most were civil service. It was easier to get Adam Schiff to decline a TV interview than fire one. But there were hundreds of employees that were deemed “at will, “ or who “served at the pleasure of the Governor.” I could fire them at any time for any reason. I fired quite a few, but not nearly enough.

Presidents (and Governors and Mayor for that matter) routinely replace political appointees from a previous administration and no one from the press makes a peep. On his first day in office, President Obama fired every single US attorney and every Ambassador President Bush appointed. Bush got rid of Clinton’s people. Not a scandal. Elections have consequences, and if you win, you get to put your own team on the field. Stop the crocodile tears about Vindman or anyone else who got sacked. If President Trump has made a mistake, it was not cleaning house on day one. He should not be expected to keep people around him who leak to the press, whine about the decisions of the Commander in Chief, or get upset when the person who went through the rigors of a campaign and got elected expect the people getting a paycheck from him to either show some loyalty or get the heck out. If there is one skill Donald Trump brought to the White House, it was one he got really known for on the long-running TV show “The Apprentice.” His signature line was “You’re FIRED!” I think he needs to be saying it a lot more!

I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:

Ever since I referred to that Internet commenter who insisted that most political violence is perpetrated by people on the right, I’ve been making a little room each day to include one of the many stories I get about leftist thugs using threats and violence to try to silence and intimidate people who disagree with them. It’s not even hard to find them, they come spilling over the news feeds every day. I could easily fill these pages with them, but that might get repetitious, so I’ll just share two more to make it three days in a row and figure I’ve made my point.

This one is about a New Hampshire tough guy who (allegedly) assaulted three Trump supporters, including a 15-year-old boy for wearing a MAGA cap.

https://www.westernjournal.com/new-hampshire-man-slaps-teen-trump-supporter-school-vote-police/

And this one is about some tolerant leftists at the University of Santa Cruz attacking some College Republicans, tearing up their information table and throwing their Betsy Ross American flag on the ground and spitting on it. Here’s a video showing it happening and displaying their faces quite clearly. One of the victims reported it to the campus police, and a name of one of the attackers was discovered via social media. Are they still students there? If so, why? Are they under arrest? If not, why not?

I would offer here that the second paragraph of your featured commentary is EXACTLY what I would have expected my President to do!!! I wish there were a video of this happening!
My only critisism is that they still have a job---that's kinda like moving a couple of rotten apples in the barrel to a different place in the barrel and expecting them to not spread their rot to the rest of the apples. "it ain't gonna happen--when an apple starts rotting it doesn't suddenly recover!!--and unless you dump the barrel, you will still have the rot--there is no cure here.

I wanted Trump to clean house as soon as he got into office. I thought he should remove all those from the enemy camp. However, I am not the Pres and I am sure he had his reasons to keep some on board.

Most people who supported Trump and after he became President said that he should of cleaned house of the last administration. He just had bad advisers & look at what happened these 3 yrs. It's very sad our children are being taught leftist policies at early ages. It's outright disgraceful that people are being attacked for supporting Trump or being a Republican. This is looks like a communist country with these kind of uprising. Can't wait hear what the leftist media will say about the President & First Lady, Melanie when they attended the Daytona 500. Thanks again for your honest opinions.

Mike, I know you're a busy man, but surely you have time to double-check your work. In paragraph 5 in the article about Mr. Vindman, you use the word aggresiously...wrong! It's spelled eggresiously. I looked up both words in my dictionary. It seems to me that many people today don't care about our native tongue. There are misspelled words all over the place, poorly arranged sentences, demonstrations of a lack of vocabulary, misunderstandings on how to spell (i.e.,: it's [it is...a contraction of it is] and its [a pronoun]. I see it everywhere. So, please be more careful, okay? Thanks for all the good info you provide.

Good morning, Mike. My name Bonnie, I live in the Beautiful State of Washington. I reside in the Tacoma area. Lakewood, WA. We have some of the worse democratic government offenders. Of which many of us Conservative, Republicans would like to see fired without pay. Governor Jay Inslee, Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell baby murderers and whole lot more. The are trying to destroy our state. In every way they can. I am not vindictive, I don't hate any person. I am a born again, blood washed, Child of the King. I hate what these Representatives are trying to do to our Beautiful State of Washington. I pray for justice and so do several of our State Representatives, Steve O'Ban, former Representative Dick Muri, good men and women who are fighting for our rights. Thank you for listening to me.

President Trump should have sent all of those people that had been around the Obama Admin. packing from the very minute he walked into the Oval Office! I would not trust any of them! Nor the Hangers On that live and work in D.C.! They have always been Democrats that have run the D.C. area! No wonder we are always in such a mess!

Yes and I think all the attorneys at DOJ serve "at the pleasure" I'm a retired EPA employee (Civil Service). I understood that all our regional Attorneys served "at the pleasure " Trump's continuing biggest mistake is that he hasn't' dismissed ALL the embedded Obama employees placed in our Executive Departments. Hopefully, he'll have another 4 years to do so. He should move quickly!

I discount the stories from some about Vindmann nto being a steling character during his early days at the army ranger school. Opinions formed during times of extreme stress, told 20 years later, should not be considered now.

But, there were some credible reports that while in Ukraine, while former Ambassador Ivanovic was still there, that Vindmann supported her position of telling the Ukrainians to ignore what trump said because he would be gone soon. that was more than enough reason to fire her and kick her out of the State Department (She was allowed to retire on full pension).

Undercutting the commander in chief while in a foreign country is as low as an army Officer can go. And if it is true, Vindmann deserves to be booted not only from the NSC, but from the Army,

On the other hand, if the stories are not true, he deserves to have his good name cleared. Everyone in the army has heard by now things vindmann is alleged to have said, and he will be viewed with suspicion by future bosses and co-workers.

It is only fair to the American people, and to Vindmann that an inquiry by the secretary of the Army determine if Vindmann is guilty or not. That Secretary Esper has, according to some media stories, decided not to investigate further, is wrong! If he has investigated and is satisfied Vindmann did not undercut the President, he should tell us, and if he has not investigated, he needs to get someone on it now!

Mike, Its bad enough when civilian employees are essentially unfireable. We used to have a joke in the Air Force in that we had an old projector that didn't work very well we called the "civilian". It doesn't work and you can't get rid of it. I think that pretty much covers it.
As far a Vindman is concerned, I agree with you, President Trump should have bodily thrown him off the White House grounds. I my minds eye I would have court marshalled him for failure to observe the chain of command, treason, demoted him to private and a dishonorable discharge. So know you know how I feel!

My thoughts about Vindman were told a couple of months ago and they still are the same he is a creepy person. Today yesterday and tomorrow we are in an era of Hoax every week something will come up to distract or harm our country our president is finally acting like an American these other countries have ideas that do not react well with reality. Climate change is a hoax, Iran deal is a farce Energy Independence was fought against Americans want issues that make America top tier. We have a Health care issue we have roads and bridges that need repair we need lower drug prices and I need taxes on my Social Security rescinded lower tax tax rates for Seniors and middle income groups. I don't need any more stinking investigation hoax against my President what we need this election are new members in the House that live by the 10 commandments and lets add a few more Senators that also live by them the problem is the good people don't want to get mixed up with the current House members they repel the 10 commandments that is the problem this country faces bring back the 10 commandments commitment the rest will take of itself and most people on the left. The Left represents a lot of Anti Creator.

All these horrified climate change activists need to call out China for their pollution sins. I see photos of many Chinese cities and the air pollution is so bad that everyone is walking around with face masks like the whole population are doctors and nurses in an operating room. I see a lot of Asian people here in the Denver area walking around with face masks and I'm thinking the Chinese people are so conditioned to wear those masks they don't know when not to wear them. It's like the Pavlov's dog theory of training that over a period of time dogs can be conditioned to behave in a certain manner without doing anything to get them to do it.

Obama did not fire all U.S. attorneys. James Letten was appointed by George W. Bush to serve in the district that includes New Orleans, La., He remained in office until 2012.

Indoctrination nation has come to roost.
Let's be clear, my wife and I are former public school teachers of thirty two years a piece.
Now to get to the nuts and bolts. While we were sitting eating our delicious chicken, Chik Fil A is the best, we overheard a father and his middle school son debate about climate change. The father said he had nothing to do with it and asked his son to stop. The son continued talking about the amount emissions were sent into the air. Again the father asked the son. I should have stepped and told the kid about the biggest pollutants weren't coming from here, but from overseas.
I asked what school the kid was going to. Sure enough, the kiddo was enrolled......drum roll please and roll your eyes.....a science academy here in St. Louis. I can surmise that teacher is probably teaching evolution and not creation as well. If I could have only asked, "was your grand mother a gorilla?" that was a line in God's Not Dead 2. This shows our schools are in a complete mess and have little regard to actual teaching.
My wife and I discussed it's time to have kids either go to a Christian school, or home schooled.
See you next time on my emails and on Saturdays nights.

Vindman is an embarrassment to the United States Military.
I was just a little peon in the military. If I ever spoke about a commander or any officer and much less the Commander and Chief like Vindman did I shudder to think of the consequences I would have faced. Vindman set a poor example to anyone under his command to follow.
In civilian life if I spoke about my boss like that, I would not last long enough to see the next paycheck. ( And rightly so ).

IMO, LtCol Vindman should be prosecuted under the UCMJ for his actions that appear to go directly against the Commander-in-Chief.......the POTUS. I haven't checked the actual definition, but the term Sedition comes to mind.
