Question: If you wanted to write a book that, because of the subject matter, was guaranteed to be published and even to be a best-seller if it were salacious enough, but you were too lazy or irresponsible or agenda-driven to check facts and determine the reliability of every story, what would you do to just let yourself off the hook for that?

Easy! You’d simply write an introduction saying it was impossible to verify what you’d written and leaving it up to the reader to come to his or her own conclusions. Wow, would that save you a ton of work! You wouldn’t even need to hire any researchers, which means you’d get to keep more of that hard-earned (not) advance. Best of all...

Military weighs in

By Mike Huckabee

Media motormouths who have mostly never been in the military are reacting with predictable scorn and outrage to President Trump’s decision to cut off most security aid to Pakistan until it gets serious about standing up to terrorist groups like the Taliban and quits trying to play on both sides. But what do the people who’ve actually served in the front lines in fighting those terrorist groups in Pakistan as part of our military and intelligence forces have to say about Trump’s move? You might be very surprised. Read the link for their expert takes.

Businesses react to wage hike

By Mike Huckabee

As of January 1, 18 states and 20 cities instituted higher minimum wage laws. I want every hard-working American to earn more pay. But you do that by getting promotions and reducing the cost of doing business (i.e., the recent tax cut bill Democrats hate), not by using the heavy hand of government to force businesses to pay more than they can afford for labor. A recent study found that minimum wage increases caused the loss of 383,000 jobs in 2017, and that trend of “helping” low-skill workers to the unemployment line is likely to accelerate this year, as more governments raise wages even higher, in defiance of the market value of labor.

One result of the government “helping” minimum wage workers (aside from many restaurant and store closings) has been the rise in automation replacing fast food workers and grocery and big box store checkout clerks. The CEO of the Carl’s Jr burger chain said that automated ordering kiosks are “always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, there’s never a slip-and-fall, or an age, sex, or race discrimination case.” Putting it bluntly, he explained, “If you’re making labor more expensive and automation less expensive — this is not rocket science.”

Unfortunately, a lot of politicians these days didn’t exactly give up careers in rocket science to run for office. But maybe they wouldn’t be killing so many jobs if they’d at least managed a Taco Bell at some point in their lives.

Trump team fighting back against regulations

By Mike Huckabee

There’s an interesting new study comparing the cost of federal regulations imposed by Obama and Trump. While the Trump Administration has passed some new regulations it deemed necessary, they’ve cut 22 regulations for each new one. And Obama provided them with plenty to cut. According to this study, in terms of costs to businesses (and hence, in higher consumer prices and fewer jobs), Obama imposed over four times more new regulatory costs just during his last 16 days in office ($24.8 billion worth) than Trump did during his entire first year.

On the plus side, you can’t accuse Obama of slacking off during his last two weeks. He worked even harder at choking job creation than he had the previous eight years, and that’s quite an accomplishment, of sorts.

New video bound to shock

By Mike HuckabeeThere’s a new documentary on the pro-life movement in the black community that makes their case that Planned Parenthood – whose founder, Margaret Sanger, was a known eugenicist - has targeted African-Americans in promoting abortion to create an anti-black genocide far bigger than anything the KKK ever dreamed of. The film also includes views of those who don’t believe Planned Parenthood is deliberately racist (they’re more than willing to kill babies of any color.) But in a video filled with shocking history, information and opinions, this might be the most shocking part: it’s being aired as an episode of the “Frontline” series on PBS. More details at the link.

Health fads

By Mike Huckabee

From refusing to get vaccinated to drinking “raw milk” to all the quackery on Gwyneth Paltrow's website and now to the latest fad of drinking “raw water” (water that’s untreated, unsterilized and unfiltered to remove various and sundry contaminants and deadly microbes), it’s starting to appear that somebody is inventing idiotic “health” fads for the sole purpose of ridding the world of hipsters.
