Evening Edition - January 6

January 6, 2020 |

If you’re a member of the United Methodist Church and you’ve been concerned about the campaign to replace Biblical principles with the LGBT agenda, you might have a very important decision to make soon about where you’ll be attending church.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds,” and if there’s one thing you can say for Sen. Elizabeth Warren, it is that she is consistent.  Just one day before attacking President Trump for taking action to kill the mastermind behind Iran’s terrorism-support forces and the attack on our Baghdad Embassy, she also made it clear that if it were up to her, the law-abiding gun owners who stopped a potential mass shooting in a White Settlement, Texas, church would have been unarmed sitting ducks.

Least surprising news of the day: Virginia coal miners are not too happy about Joe Biden suggesting that they “learn to code” after he destroys their jobs.  At this rate, if Joe wants a job in 2021, maybe he’d better learn to code.

Okay, nobody can tell me this isn’t news:

Uh-oh, it’s happened: President Trump is really in trouble now! Through his aggressive actions, he has aroused the ire of Iran’s greatest defensive force: House Democrats.

Good luck getting that bill though the Senate and getting Trump to sign it. Meanwhile, Speaker Pelosi not only wants to tie the President’s hands in dealing with Iran and take over running military policy herself the way she's trying to take over the Senate's impeachment role, she also seems headed toward declaring his taking out of Gen. Soulemani (which even Obama’s former DHS chief Jeh Johnson called completely legal and legitimate) as a “war crime.”  Remember when Pelosi accused Obama of war crimes for the thousands of drone strikes he launched, some of which killed innocent bystanders rather than terrorist masterminds?  Me neither.

So good news, all you House Democrats elected from Trump-supporting districts.  When that impeachment vote you were forced to cast costs you your seat, you can now vote for this idiocy, too, and be ridden out of office on a nice, comfortable rail, wearing a warm coat of tar and feathers.

Trust CNN to cover the truly important stories:

Colin Kaepernick’s tweet on the taking out of Suleimani (the one about imperialist America’s terrorist attacks on Black and Brown people) didn’t go over too well with a lot of people on Twitter.  They felt compelled to remind (or more likely, to inform) him that Suleimani is directly responsible for the “murder, starvation, displacement, detention and torture of millions of brown Syrians and Iraqis.”

Since it’s obvious nobody is going to learn anything reading Colin Kaepernick tweets, here’s a page you can bookmark instead. It’s a list of athletic shoe brands that are proudly made in the USA by companies whose spokespeople don’t reflexively side with America’s enemies.

You might want to explore that site, since it also lists many other products made in the USA.  You can even search for products made in your home state by non-sweatshop labor.

As is my standard practice, I refuse to give shooters the notoriety they crave by naming them.  So I won’t be repeating the name of the man who made the unwise decision to target the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas. But I will pass along the news that authorities believe they might know why he held a grudge against the church.  Turns out the church had helped him in the past by giving him food, but he reportedly got angry that they wouldn’t give him cash.  Those monsters.

As the story at the link notes, he had a history of getting angry over things, “including a 2008 charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas, a spell in jail for a misdemeanor assault charge in Oklahoma, a 2012 charge that he “maliciously” set fire to a cotton field using tampons and lamp oil, and a protective order filed against him by his ex-wife in which she called him a paranoid religious fanatic. In 2016, New Jersey police arrested him with a shotgun near an oil refinery in Linden.”

Since none of these things kept him from getting a gun – or would have under most new gun control proposals, which are aimed at so-called “assault weapons,” which he didn’t use – and even if he were somehow miraculously kept from getting a gun, he could’ve used, say, a machete, like the Hanukkah attacker in New York – then the real bottom line issue here should be, “How do we deal with people who are just sick and evil, and are bent on attacking others?”

One way is to be vigilant so we can recognize where they’re headed and intercede.  Failing that (and we can never be 100% effective at spotting people with evil intent), the most effective way is to be prepared for when they do act.  Thank God the church in Texas was prepared.

A lot of news outlets are running lists of the winners of last night’s Golden Globe Awards, but to me, and I’m sure tens of millions of Americans, there was only one winner: host Ricky Gervais, who bravely came out and gave the world’s biggest raspberry to politically-correct Internet trolls, woke scolds, cancel culture whiners and hypocritical Hollywood liberal moralizers.

Gervais is co-creator of the original “The Office” series, which is wildly popular in reruns and the most streamed show on Netflix in 2019, and which has been licensed for local productions all over the world.  So I assume he has enough money to tell Harvey Weinstein to fetch his car for him. He made his “I don’t care if you boo” attitude clear throughout his monologue, even making a running gag out of the fact that it was his fifth and last time hosting, even though they knew he has a notoriously un-PC Twitter feed.  He said before the show that he had to decide whether to please 200 celebrities in the room or 200 million people watching at home, and he made the obvious choice.

Here’s a write-up on how he mocked the smug Hollywood elites to their faces, reminding them that they shill for big companies that run sweatshops, they partied and covered up for notorious pedophile Harvey Weinstein and other sexual predators, and just general speaking, they have no business lecturing anyone else.

But you’ll want to watch it in its entirety, which you can here:

…if for no other reason than to hear his final comment in full, which I suspect will become the most-quoted words on the Internet today:

“So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.  So if you win tonight, right, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God, and (BLEEP) off.”

Could we please have that added to the invitations to every Hollywood awards show from now on?

It’s just too bad that Michelle Williams didn’t take Gervais’ advice and turned her acceptance speech into a totally incongruous and inappropriate “get out the vote for abortion rights” statement.  Another piece of advice she should have taken: if you’re going to try to trick the audience into not thinking about what abortion really is by wrapping it in fuzzy euphemisms like “a woman's right to choose," don’t describe your life as “one that I have carved with my own hand."

It’s totally amazing about Michelle carving out her own life. Funny I always thought the way you got life was through dad fertilizing mom’s egg. It’s amazing she was able to create herself, feed herself, change her own diapers, get an education, such as it is, on her own, etc. without teachers or parental guidance. This is truly miraculous. We lessor beings have to depend on others to help shape us physically, morally, and educationally. Some of us actually believe God had a part in it. It must be nice to feel so in charge.

I think there needs to be something done about nancy. she is getting off the vibe that she is equal to the executive and cant take it over anytime she chooses. Where doe she get off saying she wants to tie the hands of Trump just because he killed her buddy Soleiman. This gal is getting more and more arrogant as days go by. She needs to be put in her place.

Gov you hit it out of the park tonight on the subjects. To the killing of this horrendous Gen and now the Democrats are out to make him a saint and not back our troops heading over to try to keep some of these areas free and not like Iran where the people want to be free. Gervais said what so many of us believe now about Hollyweird and his attacks were super and so funny and the faces were in shock . This is why we out here could care less I did not watch but I sure went back to find Gervais monologue. Then Michelle was such a fool on what she tried to say on abortion what about birth control instead of taking a knife to kill a baby ? She is so nuts. Sad for many of them. Kapernick on what you said was also so right about the killings per Gen Sol of many browns and blacks in Syria and Yemen and on and on? Another nut case on trying to bring in racism and if he is so upset move out of this country go to Rwanda and a few where black on black kill each other or maybe Chicago? Just keep on keeping on Gov and thanks .

One more thing Mr. Huckabee, I just tried it again with a different Stock Broker & Bill O'riley who
wrote a book about President Trump. I decided that one was easy enough because they were sending on the material to read to be able to do it. He had marked $1800 of books & tapes down to $99 so I signed up for it. Guess what! I couldn't find my credit cards anywhere and I had them this morning. I never take them any where I use them for one line purchases only. DO YOU THINK I HAVE THE MESSAGE NOW???????????????? I THINK SO! THAT'S GOD'S WORK.

I find it so sad that you call yourself a Christian yet support Trump. The horrible things he says on twitter are so immoral. How do you reconcile supporting this president with being a Christian? Trump is not pro-life, he's pro-Trump!

I don't get church people believing in God when they don't follow what He says in the Bible. I'm a Baptist & I believe what it says about Gays (in case anyone doesn't know yes, God knew what Gay was) I think it's in Leviticus it says "if another man sleeps with another man as he would with a
woman he shall not enter Heaven. Also abortions. I don't get that people have babies & they don't think they're people???? It also says Thou Shalt not Kill. It just amazes me. It says in the Bible that we need to get saved but you don't keep getting saved & getting saved. Maybe it's just me but I try my best to not do what I got save for again. And I'm not saying I don't do anything wrong. I asked God the other night if I should follow the stock market because I found a good deal (I thought) The next morning I got up all set to get on & I couldn't find the e-mail anywhere.
So later I thought I wonder if God took it off or I just deleted it. I have been trying to get on line
with the stock market now for about 3 days. I finally realized tonight GOD SAID NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched a clip of warren on some show where she is now deciding that President Trump took out soleimani solely to distract from the (cough cough) impeachment. Then goes on to say the explanations have constantly changed. Don't know what world she is getting her news from, but it sure isn't any on this earth. And, talk about changing directions at the drop of the hat--now, wouldn't that be the house with the impeachment?

pelosi needs to sit down and shut up. There is bona fide issues for the House to be working on--that will benefit America and American citizens instead of concentrating on what they can do next to oust our President. She didn't run to restrict obama's powers when he was droning people, when bin laden was taken out without advance notice to everyone.

And, if it's true that the President was eating ice cream during the convoy strike, at least he wasn't sleeping through it like obama was when 4 Americans were murdered in Benghazi and denied protection --requested for months.

Why can't charges of conspiracy against the president be filed against the house of rep, They are and have been plotting against the president for political reasons. That is conspiracy. Is it not a crime? Who can we turn to when to get this done. Is there any court that takes up for the president. What can the CIA or the FBI do to protect the president. Who can protect him ? When I was in the army we pledged to follow his orders. God got him elected and He will take care of him. Because God does not do things half way or drop us in the middle of things

I am a Methodist and have been for a very long time since the age of 4, but was Baptized as a baby in the Nazarene Church because my Grandma went there. So having gone to the Methodist Church all my life I am really saddened, actually sick that the Church has come to this! HOW CAN THEY DO THAT???? I am so against this kind of thing and it is really being shoved down everyone's throat! So very sad! I never watch the so-called Award shows anymore either, something really needs to be done about these celebrities! We don't even go to the Movies like we used to back in the 50's and early 60's! They have even ruined Disney!

Yes, Persians are considered Caucasian. The US Census considers people from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East to be Caucasian. Since Iran is in the Middle East, it fits the criterea of Caucasian.
Kapernick doesn't have a clue about very much useful information. I wouldn't have him within 100 yds. of my locker room if I owned an NFL team... ok.... miles, if possible. He is caustic, but not caucasian, apparently.

As the citizens of the United States and the Illegals the people around the world take inventory of the logic the left uses its no wonder people turn off outlets like CNN MSNBC ABC CBS NBC the illogical nonsense that is spewed just reenforces me that these Anti American outlets are financed by our enemies. Gervais gave a brilliant description of Hollywood and its industry; they are well dressed fools spreading out like peacocks other than in the zoo how many people witness peacocks in public. I haven't bought a ticket to a theater in over a decade and probably won't I would buy a Eastwood film watch it in my home theater let the theater die sorry just can't do Hollywood. Kapernickel should be flushed out to the ocean along with the human feces from the streets of San Francisco just a waste, thats all I have for kapernickel not worth a nickel. I propose a day where every citizen thats not mentally ill a felon or a Democrat buy a side arm to defend themselves. MAGA

Gov. Huckabee, I have noticed n the TV show you promote a considerable amount of books. That OK but what I am also noticing after your guests and/or performers do their thing you quickly move to," if you want see or hear more" go to www.HuckabeeTV.org I believe. I really would rather see less people on the show and more of the QUALITY people you have on your show. I really do not like having to( go to) to see more. Its like reading the paper you start a story on A1 then read more ob b-2 and then finally c and/or d sections. The kids like watching 5 things at once, I don't

A little something for your readers:

A Man named Harold; and a president named Barack.

This summarizes how most (?) liberals view the US military:

Harold was a bright child. He grew up in America. He went to school and had a bright future ahead of him. Harold was full of life but was cut short in a violent moment. While few people had ever heard of Harold before his death, many did afterward And in death, something very shocking happened. What was so shocking, especially when it is compared to the death of someone else recently in the news?

Harold was Harold Greene, Major General, United States Army. On Aug. 5, 2014, Major General Greene was killed by a Taliban terrorist.

He was returned to America with full military honors.

It has been a tradition that the president attends the funeral of General and Flag officers killed in the line of duty.

Richard Nixon attended the funeral of a Major General Casey killed in Vietnam and George W. Bush attended the funeral of Lieutenant General Timothy Maude, who was killed in the 9/11 attacks.

While Major General Greene was buried, Barack Obama was golfing. The Vice President wasn't there either. Neither was the Secretary of Defense.

Flags were not even lowered half-mast.

Four days after Harold Greene gave his life for America, Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson, Missouri.

Brown was at best a young thug. In the minutes before his death, he committed a robbery at a local convenience store. According to other reports, Brown struck Officer Darren Wilson and shattered his orbital bone. Obama sent a three-person delegation to Brown's funeral!

Neither Obama nor Biden would attend the funeral of the highest ranking military officer killed in the line of duty since 9/11, yet he sent a delegation to the funeral of a thug.

When Margaret Thatcher, one of America's staunchest allies and Ronald Reagan's partner in bringing down Soviet communism died, Obama sent only a small low-level delegation to her funeral. The snub was not missed by the British.

When Chris Kyle, the most lethal American sniper in history was murdered, there was no expression of sympathy from the White House.

But when Whitney Houston died from drug overdose, the Obama/Biden administration ordered all flags be flown at half-mast.

There was no White House delegation at the funeral of an American hero. American heroes die and Obama goes to the golf course.

A thug dies and he gets a White House delegation.

No wonder most "REAL" Americans hold Obama in such contempt, especially members of our Military.

And Biden is now expounding on how great the Obama/Biden administration was.

Stand up for the "Harolds" in America.

It is beyond incomprehensible to me how Hollywood elites, as you so call them, can covet a Golden Globe Award when those awards, in the end, meant NOTHING to Whitney Houston, Robin Williams...(and the list of Hollywood elites, who WON Golden Globe Awards that wound up meaning NOTHING to them in the end is endless)

These Hollywood elites were so unhappy that they turned to drugs to try and "feels good" and those drugs eventually claimed their lives ...but Praise the Lord they had a Golden Globe award before they went TO an early grave!
