It’s been kind of sickening listening to the responses from Democrats to the Mueller report, which concluded that the Trump campaign did not “collude” with Russia and even that the Mueller team was not obstructed in its nearly two years of work.

None of that matters to Trump’s political opponents. The goal posts have been moved again. The special counsel report, which Attorney General William Barr released with relatively few redactions when he wasn’t obligated to share even one bit of it, is now being picked apart to find anything even suggestive of the DESIRE to obstruct. That’s right, even conversations with his attorneys –- attorney-client privilege is out the window –- suggesting Trump FELT LIKE firing Mueller and WOULD HAVE if his lawyers had gone along with the idea, are considered incriminating. That’s what you get for trying to be transparent.

Commentary continues below advertisement

By the way, Trump’s people were extremely transparent. Imagine turning over 1.4 million documents to investigators and letting your attorney sit down with them for over 30 hours of testimony. This is the first time a sitting President has been so cooperative. He could have invoked executive privilege but never did.

Here’s what actual obstruction would have looked like: Trump is furious and wants to fire Mueller. Lawyers say he better not, that this would be obstruction. Trump fires lawyers, or else they quit. Trump fires Mueller.

Did he do that? Heck, no, although Trump’s opponents fervently wished he would. Trump thought about it, mused about it, raved about it, ultimately decided against it. That is not obstruction. Mueller’s investigation continued unimpeded for as long as he cared to take it, which was a really long time. (It also could be argued that Mueller had to know early on that the “dossier” was fake and there was no Russian “collusion” but deliberately stretched out the investigation till after the 2018 congressional election.)

The on-air trashing of consummate professional Bill Barr and the distortion of the Mueller report has been so disgraceful, it’s not worth recounting here. I think it’s even more psychotic than what we were predicting it would be, if that’s possible. But I’ll spare you. (How do people watch the idiocy on CNN and MSNBC?? I force myself to tune in for a sampling just to find out what’s being said but have to change the channel before my head explodes.) Needless to say, they’re capitalizing on the fact that this report was written by people like Andrew Weissmann and Jeannie Rhee who supported Hillary and were out to get Trump. The second part of it --- the part focusing on “obstruction” –- is like a gift to Trump’s opponents as it inaccurately assumes the worst possible motives on his part. Here’s one sample quote:

“According to notes written by Hunt, it says, ‘when Sessions told the President that a Special Counsel had been appointed, the President slumped back in his chair, and said, “Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m F*****!’ The President became angry and lambased the Attorney General for his decision to recuse from the investigation, stating, ‘How could you let this happen, Jeff?’”

Democrats have interpreted this to mean that Trump was panicked because he had something to hide, that he was afraid of what a special counsel investigation might turn up. But that’s obviously not what he meant. Of course he got angry! Trump is also quoted as saying this: “Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels, it ruins your Presidency. It takes years and years and I won’t be able to do anything.”

THAT’S what he was talking about. “The end of my Presidency” simply means “I’m gonna be completely hamstrung now. I can forget about any accomplishments I’d like to be remembered for. My whole Presidency is going to be about this, and it’s based on something that didn’t even happen!”

Commentary continues below advertisement

And he WAS hamstrung. Every decision he made was second-guessed, as it got wedged into either the “Trump is an agent of Putin” narrative or the “Trump is obstructing the investigation” narrative. Even his tweets were considered by his political enemies and, apparently, by some on the special counsel team (pardon my redundancy) to represent obstruction, though the special counsel was never obstructed in any way.

Trey Gowdy, former chairman of the House Oversight Committee, doesn’t see this getting better now that Mueller has submitted his report. “The next two years will be worse,” he said in an interview with Martha McCallum on Thursday. He noted that the special counsel investigation was confidential, while Congress’s will be anything but. Gowdy believes that a report such as this, which doesn’t result in charges or even resolve anything in such a partisan atmosphere, shouldn’t have been made public at all, and he disagrees with Barr’s decision to do it.

It’s that second part of the report, the part about “obstruction,” that Mark Levin calls “the political report, the impeachment report.” On Thursday’s “Hannity” show, he said, “It’s written for Jerry Nadler, It’s written for Nancy Pelosi. It’s written for CNN and MSNBC. It reads like some junior editorial writer at The New York Times put this together.” There’s no “legal stuff” in it, and that’s why they’re all saying, “We have to move beyond the law.” It’s only about politics now, because that’s all they have.

Levin agrees that Mueller must have known there was no collusion for a long time, an estimated 18 months ago, and argues that, in fact, the special counsel had an obligation to go to the microphone and tell the American people that Trump and his campaign did not collude with Russia. But no, he went on with the bogus investigation, trying repeatedly to get Trump in to testify in person (can you say “perjury trap”?).

Also on “Hannity,” Rep. Devin Nunes, ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, pointed out that on page 11 of the report, there’s a veiled reference to Rod Rosenstein’s elusive “scope” memo specifying what the Mueller team was supposed to investigate. Apparently, Rosenstein used the unverified dirt in the Steele “dossier” –- paid for by the Hillary campaign and the DNC and used in the FISA spying application –- as part of that memo. According to Nunes, that’s what directed Mueller to go after Carter Page and Paul Manafort. Wasn’t that helpful? And it kind of makes sense; it’s not as if they had an actual CRIME to investigate.

Commentary continues below advertisement

Trump attorney Jay Sekulow lauds the first half of the report, noting that it’s a complete vindication of the President on collusion with Russia or any agent of Russia, which is the issue that started the investigation in the first place, almost three years ago.

The big take-away also comes from Sekulow: If Mueller conceivably could have made the case for obstruction, HE WOULD HAVE. That should be the last word, but it won’t be.

Since Barr doesn’t deserve the shameful personal pounding he’s having to take, here’s a highly recommended and very positive piece by Glenn Reynolds at PJ Media, titled “Bill Barr: Adult In The Room,” on why he’s just the attorney general we need right now, a steady rock in this time of partisan discord and overheated rhetoric. He knew the job was dangerous when he took it, and we can be confident he’ll weather the storm just fine.

And when Barr is being criticized for even holding a press conference, Andrew C. McCarthy offers an informative commentary explaining why it was appropriate and even advisable for him to do so.

Deep down we all were hoping the Meuller report would end the witch hunt, but we are not dealing with very educated, sane, Godly people here. What we have been dealt with by idiotic liberal voters is a group of angry, envy and Satanic liberal Democratic Politicians. I still state Mike we need a major March on Washington to stop these liberals from wasting our tax money trying to drum up false or fake charges against an outstanding President who truly cares and loves the true Americans still sane enough to keep America Great Longer.

The Russians have and continue to succeed in their goal of turning Americans against Americans. Gov Huckabee, I normally agree with you as you are a thoughtful and decent man, but in this case I think you are glossing over a key issue: patriotism. Why didn't anyone in Trump's circle immediately notify authorities when they were told a foreign power was hacking a major US institution? What if the Chinese had hacked the RNC and the Dems heard about it - as good Americans, we'd hope the Dems would immediately contact law enforcement. And if the Russians hacked the DNC, doesn't it stand to reason they've also hacked the RNC, or will try to in the future if it suits their needs? It seems the idea of a nation united together has gone to the wayside - forget about any patriotism to our fellow Americans if I can use that illegally-gotten information to damage my political opponent. It wasn't that long ago we were united against the Russian threat during the Cold War, but now it seems they have us by the tail. I am so disappointed that you are caught up in a full defense of Trump that you can't take a step back and see what is happening to us as fellow Americans. Trump should be condemning the Russians for their subterfuge against us, whether he likes the outcome of that report or not. It is his job to protect and lead us - all of us, Dem and Republican, Green and Libertarian, from hostile foreign powers. I don't agree with everything in that report, but it was clear to any impartial observer that the Russians were hacking, cultivating, grooming, and baiting us, and we need to speak against it.

Got to continue letting them rant and rave. The damage they are doing is not to the president but to themselves. When the report that Barr is working up on the shenanigans that were done to get the whole thing started come out they will be looking for a very big rock to try and hide under. Don't think the lamestream media will be able to cover it up as many of their members might just go down hard for conspiracy in an attempted coup!

Thanks for sharing the scriptures about why we celebrate Easter. You always encourage Christians to focus on the word of God, and our Lord Jesus Christ will bless you now and bless you the day you rise to be with him.

Thanks for informing Mitt Romney how disingenuous and jealous he's been and that it makes you sick the got the GOP nomination and could have been POTUS. We all share your same feelings, but you found the perfect words to express how we feel. I don't know what happened to Mitt.

so why bother with libs? They have zero creds zero morals and zero everything else. All they have is hate, all they want is destruction of America. out in the open, they are no longer hiding it. They admit they are socialists and what is that but communist as soon as possible. This is the party that is the enemy of the USA and they now must be treated as the enemy. Just as muslims (CAIR) the Chinese government and Iran government. We should expect nothing positive from dems, they HAVE nothing positive to add.

The only collusion I see is that between the Democrats and the media. When I was an innocent kid, we were taught that the free press in the United States provided objective truth devoid of partisanship as much as possible. Today we have only six companies that control 90% of communications, making almost all information suspect. Once leftists have a monopoly on communications, we are no better off than people who live in countries where the government controls information. MSNBC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc.--the new Pravda.

Re: Sarah's Story - today is my (close to your age, Mike) birthday. As I look to your reporting of the daily news headlines, like I always do in order to get the REAL, not the status quo (MSM) fake side of things, I just had to let you know how, easily, so very many of us (1/2 of America?) is totally behind ALL your daughter's efforts (on all our behalf). And we thank her & you her family most sincerely!!!

I would vote for Sarah in heartbeat if we "need" to have a female next POTUS. But also FOR her even if gender isn't an issue or requirement. Frankly, as a mom of 2 adult daughters myself though, I don't want her to be anymore "in the line of fire" of these vicious, hateful (evil) Leftists! 1 key thing is - she'd lead & excel, not only with her solid moral values (desperately needed in this age!) but also the strong communications skills that Trump doesn't possess. Of course, there was that last POTUS who seemed more like a slick Used Car Salesman, albeit Ferrari salesman, who so cunningly verbalizes any nonsense, any evil - to seem "good" < Isaiah 5:20 btw!

Mostly, please just pass it along (to SHS) that we love her, respect her and are so grateful for ALL that she is doing on behalf of our nation! God bless the Huckabee family during this Holiest of seasons!!!!!!!

Trey Gowdy has a good point about not releasing the report. But, Barr and President Trump are between a rock and a hard place. They have done their best to be transparent, but in the end, Hillary was supposed to win. Nothing will ever change that. The DNC rigged the primaries, stacked the deck in the election and still lost. Now Muller has said "No Collusion" and they lost again. The American people are tired of this nonsense, we want and need calm especially going into 2020. When Trump wins again in 2020 it'll just be more of the same, unless the Republicans re-take the House and Keep the Senate. Just my .02.

On BLUE BLOODS the commisioner often says I work at your service. In a business if 2 people were going at the position of CEO and one department head named comey is leading a coup against the person who eventually gets hired and the new CEO...would the new CEO not feel compeled to fire his arch enemy. President Nixon had his enemy list but the FBI has brought it to a new level. Democrats should be happy that an ex Democrat is President

I've been reading the very interesting comments from your supporters and I totally agree with all of them, as we Americans have had more than enough of the dems shenanigans, who don't know when to stop and start acting like adults, let alone politicians! I firmly believe it is time to turn the tables on them and get all those guilty players of that fake dossier investigated and brought to justice. It is not fair that it is all one-sided, that they can treat our President as if he does not belong in the WH when he won the election fair and square, try to ruin his life, his name, his presidency, his family and obstruct his every move from trying to move his agenda forward in serving the people and our country. My goodness, what a bunch of "spoiled brats" who need a good spanking (that was done in my day, and we learned from them, and I am now 80), and if they cannot move forward, then maybe it's time for them to get out of office so real patriots can take over and help our President heal our country! It makes me very angry of the injustice done to Pres. Trump and his family and for what?... because their Hillary did not get the presidency? I was a Democrat for 60 years but was so apolitical most of those years as I thought all politicians knew what they were doing until Obama came into the picture and that woke me up from my slumber. I switched 2 months before the 2016 election and never looked back but now I can kick myself in the behind for not having been more attentive sooner. Had I still been a Democrat today, I would be very embarrassed to say I belong to a "gangster" party as that is what they have become!! They are no longer politicians with common sense! I am hoping AG Barr will start investigating the genesis and conduct of those involved in the fake dossier, and that sooner or later (the sooner the better) all will be brought to justice as Pres. Trump deserves that much, and perhaps we all will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and say, "it's done to no longer haunt our President so he can move on and get his work done, finally." God bless Pres. Trump, his family and cabinet, and the millions of his supporters. By they way, Sara is doing a great job as WH Press Secy. and you must be very proud of her.

My question is, what are we going to do about all the time, money, and effort that is constantly being wasted on tax payers dime for junk that has nothing to do with making things better for the American people! Never any talk about fixing our immigration problem, our health care problems, etc. There should be something the people could do to stop all this nonsense being played out for political gains by the leaders we have put in place. Let’s start talking about forgetting conspiracies and start talking about taking away high paid government salaries until they start working with our president for us!

  • Michael Galloway

$30 million dollars of tax payer money spent on pursuing a hoax that targeted President Trump. But what about Hillary and the DNC. Now that the Mueller report has concluded, it is time to investigate and pursue justice against the real crooks and cronies of the Obama administration.
Some one else commented that the Democrats stole the 2018 mid-term election. I don't doubt that for a minute. With that election and now the Mueller investigation and all the other screaming and allegations by the Democrats, is conservative, patriotic, evangelical Americans going to wake up before 2020 and make sure that the Democrats never, never again take control. Their political party is sickening and disgusting for what they have done to President Trump, for the agenda they really want for America (socialism) and for their goal to establish sanctuary cities and states in the United States of America. And their pro-abortion stance and now the killing of babies outside the womb of failed abortions ! And this is just a very short list of what the Democrats represent. Wake up America before it is too late and the Dems destroy this country, its Constitution, our values or at least what use to be our values. We cannot afford for the Democrats to steal through their fraudulent voting activities to steal any more elections. Wake up true, patriotic, conservative Americans!!!!

It's totally hypocritical that the Democrats and some Republicans continual criticize Trump and anyone else who disagrees with their opinions and even those who ARE doing their jobs like Barr when the Congress has been so pathetic about doing their work to discuss and handle the important issues that need to be taken care of for the betterment of the people and the country. Statesmen they're NOT. The older, middle, and younger generations are so disgusted they are not watching or listening to news because so much of it is false and that's a huge damage Congress is doing to those who need to keep informed on issues so they can vote intelligently.

POTUS has to FOCUS on his Promised Agenda...immigration, jobs, healthcare, more middle class tax cuts, Infrastructure, peace plans, honest voting processes...positive efforts that he, and in turn, we will be proud of...and ignore the detractors. Meanwhile, his supporters can pursue efforts to counter the negative voices with subpoenas, etc. for law violations.

Of COURSE there was collusion between Americans and foreign nationals to influence the 2016 election: it was committed by Hillary and her band of Dems.

And while Democrats are looking through everything President Trump did, said (and thought) for evidence of obstruction of justice, they ignore Hillary's destruction of devices, "loss" of emails, and sending Bill out to talk (about grandchildren!?) to A.G. Loretta Lynch at the airport.

In spite of the Mueller report saying "no collusion", Democrats are continuing to claim that President Trump did something wrong, which is supposedly being covered up by Barr. How ridiculous! But some Americans will believe it. Democrats are helping Russia, China, and others by keeping America divided and appear to be weak. Republicans have to stop them by investigating the wrongdoing that started and perpetuated the collusion hoax.

Mueller; I commented a month ago when a lot of people praised and said how they respected this guy I suggested that this guy is no good and honor left him and his 12 year old diaper yea diaper boy till he was 12 and a bedwetter for most of his life. This mueller knew how illegal this investigation was and sat in his dirty diaper for almost 2 years and didn't say a word to stop it. This is not a man a person can respect this is a coward this a guy that would leave his post if heard a mouse run by. I would trade this guy for 5 bags of compost to Isis just like obama traded a guy (coward) for 5 Isis terriost. Another great guess Mike I just don't like this guy Mueller or Obama This doesn't make me the same as Obama i made a good deal I got 5 bags of compost for this coward. I would do America a great service if I could throw in most of the loony left.

No matter what the outcome of the “investigation”, the Democrats are going to be angry because Donald Trump is our President, and they are going to cry about it. I am sick and tired of the whole business!!!!
