A word to any crackpot out there who thinks it’s possible to send bombs or other threats through the mail:  YOU WILL BE FOUND, and it probably won’t take long.  We received word Friday morning that someone has already been located near Miami and arrested for mailing crude bombs (none of which detonated) to prominent Democrats.  Wow, that happened fast!  According to FBI Director Christopher Wray, he was identified at the FBI Crime Lab through DNA, along with a latent fingerprint on an envelope sent to California Rep. Maxine Waters.

Now THIS is the kind of thing we love the FBI for, and we join President Trump in condemning the violence and thanking law enforcement at all levels for their dedicated effort and expertise.  Of course, we don’t yet know whether or not this man was working alone or if there are other packages still in transit.

Reminder for our readers in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area: Saturday night, you can meet Huck’s Hero Betty Bengo and “Huckabee” writer (and terrific singer) Laura Ainsworth, all while helping a great cause.  It’s at the 6th annual fundraising dinner (a huge international buffet), auction and show, benefiting the Malaika Orphanage in Uganda for some of the world’s most impoverished children.  It’s only $25 a ticket at the UTA campus in Arlington.  Info and tickets are at

"Potential conspiracy"

By Mike Huckabee

There’s even more reason than we knew why Sen. Charles Grassley referred sleazy lawyer Michael Avenetti and his client Julie Swetnick to the DOJ for “potential conspiracy to provide materially false statements to Congress” in the accusations against then-SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

NBC revealed that Avenetti provided a sworn statement to the Judiciary Committee from a second woman to bolster her claims.  This woman allegedly said she attended high school parties with Swetnick and personally witnessed Kavanaugh spiking punch and acting sexually aggressive toward girls.

But when NBC contacted the woman before their interview with Swetnick, she reportedly said she made it clear to Avenetti that she never saw anyone spike any punch or she would have said so then.  She also never saw Kavanaugh act inappropriately toward women and didn't believe he ever had.  And she didn’t become friends with Swetnick until they were in their 30s.  She also said she no longer spoke with Avenetti because he twisted her words.  Avenetti responded that the statement he provided was “true and correct,” and that “she must have been confused” by NBC’s question when she flatly denied everything he claimed she'd said.  Wow, that must have been a really confusing question!

Now, a lot of people are asking a question that they’re confused by: if NBC had that woman’s bombshell statement that blew away Swetnick’s charge and exonerated Kavanaugh, why did they not report it before the confirmation vote or mention it during their televised interview with Swetnick?  Sounds as if Avenetti and Swetnick weren’t the only ones allegedly engaging in a conspiracy to mislead Congress.

Go vote

By Mike Huckabee

As Election Day draws closer, it becomes harder and harder to analyze the day’s news rationally, with objectivity and humor.  A glance at the headlines on most news aggregator sites is like stepping into a Halloween house of horrors, the big ones that charge over $20 admission.

For instance, yesterday’s Drudge Report was topped with 18 headlines, all about mail bombs, ISIS, assassinations, media bias, “shards of glass,” blame, finger-pointing, hatred and division, and was before you even got down to the site’s name.  Below “Drudge Report,” we had more division, hatred and name-calling, mixed with headlines about troops being sent to the border, stocks being roiled, new disease fears, Netflix’s “ruthless, demoralizing” corporate culture, violence around the world, and such unique horrors as the threat of tigers going extinct, “Star Trek” returning as a comedy series, and Nancy Pelosi becoming speaker again. All it lacked was Bill Murray of “Ghostbusters” shouting, “Dogs and cats, living together…Mass hysteria!!”

And if you think that’s bad, imagine how the left is going to react on November 6th if they discover that voters don’t want to trade jobs for mobs.

Now, contrast this with what a friend of mine in Texas wrote to me yesterday.  He said he and his wife went to vote early.  The polling place was crowded right after work in their suburban Dallas district.  There were men and women of all races, Republicans and Democrats, both voting and working the polls. Everyone was smiling and nice to each other, all politely waiting their turn to vote.  In the parking lot afterward, a black man approached my white friend and asked if he would sign a petition to get a local issue on the ballot.  He agreed.  He told the black lady who showed him how to fill it out that he signed because he’s big on personal freedom.  She replied that so was she; in fact, she’d helped get the first Libertarian candidate on the ballot.

Okay, you know what that sounds like to me?  People of all different backgrounds and races, getting along together, respecting each other’s views, and holding opinions that don’t fit narrow-minded racial or gender stereotypes?

It sounds like America.  A lot more so than all the “sturm und drang” we’re seeing in the media.  Their motto used to be “If it bleeds, it leads.”  In the Internet age, it’s “If it screams, it streams.”  But the vast majority of Americans aren’t screaming, rioting, threatening each other or having emotional meltdowns because Donald Trump is President.  They’re working together, getting along, taking part in their communities and going about their lives. And voting, in large numbers.

So if all the scary headlines on the Internet or the news channels are frying your nerves, don’t attack your neighbors or pull your hair out.  Just turn off the screens and go outside for a walk in the fresh air.  Better yet, walk to the nearest polling place and make your opinion heard in the peaceful, American way, by voting.  And if you miss being scared, visit a Halloween haunted house.  One of the cheap ones that’s not as terrifying as the Drudge Report or CNN.
