There are hardly words adequate to describe the brilliance, good heart, and incredible example of FOX News contributor and Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Charles Krauthammer, nor to express how deeply saddened we are at the news he now shares with us.

In a letter read on-air by his colleagues at FOX News, Krauthammer reveals that after cancer surgery and almost a year of treatment and slow recovery, he was knocked back again with the news that his cancer has suddenly returned, very aggressively, and that his doctors give him only a few more weeks. He had anticipated getting back to his work but now says that “fate has decided on a different course for me.”

The letter reminds me a little of the heartfelt one President Reagan wrote to the nation after receiving his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. “I leave this life with no regrets,” Krauthammer says. “It was a wonderful life --- full and complete with the great loves and great endeavors that make it worth living. I am sad to leave, but I leave with the knowledge that I lived the life that I intended.”

His appearances were always a highlight of Bret Baier’s “Special Report,” so much so that Baier was able to get approval from the higher-ups to have him on “the panel” every night. Everyone –- colleagues and viewers alike –- had been missing him greatly and hoping for his eventual return. But Charles is as much of a realist about this as he has had to be about other things, saying, “This is the final verdict. My fight is over.”

He has coped with hard realities ever since, at the age of 22, a dive to the bottom of a swimming pool broke his neck and took most of his ability to move. It almost took his life as well, but the Harvard medical student persevered and not only graduated but went on to become chief psychiatry resident at Massachusetts General Hospital and later to enter the world of politics as a speechwriter and then a columnist and on-air commentator. (That world certainly needs the counsel of a good psychiatrist, but I digress.) For the fascinating story and a deeper understanding of his life and philosophy, be sure to read his book THINGS THAT MATTER.

It would be hard to find anyone else with such a huge intellect and such a small ego. In these times, we can benefit from his keen observations more than ever, so it’s fortunate they are recorded for posterity. As he says in his letter, “I am grateful to have played a small part in the conversations that have helped guide this extraordinary nation’s destiny.” We’re grateful for that, too. Let’s keep him in our prayers and our thoughts, remember his example always, and be thankful for his wise words over the years.

    The only sound reason I can think of why your Creator is calling you home at this time in your life is because He needs your brilliant mind to help Him come up with a solution to cure His world of this terrible Liberal Movement going on today.

    I just want to thank you for levelheaded wise commentaries. Nice to know we are not alone trying to keep our republic together, (God bless Donald J Trump).     First, let me say that I am saddened by the sad news of Charles Krauthammer's condition. May God bless him and his loved ones with His peace at this time.

    Now, to the IG's Report....What hogwash!!! I don't know who got to him, what was threatened, or how much money was involved. but to have drawn the conclusions he stated, he had to have turned a blind eye. So much is left unexplained, I mean who believes that Loretta Lynch didn't understand what she was doing when she met with Billy Boy on the tarmac, or that it was just a coincidence that they were both there at the same time? I'm convinced there was money involved and that she ordered Comey to let Hillary off, when it was never his place to make that decision, it would have been hers. I believe she took a payoff to keep Hillary from being indicted for
    1)Lying to Congress, 2)Destroying evidence, 3)Improperly handling government information, for starters....not to even mention the whole Benghazi matter. Plus, I don't believe she was unaware or uninvolved in allowing the crooked Anwan (Pakistani brothers) to have access to all of the internal intelligence in the government's computers, and paying them an extraordinary sum if money, and letting at least one of them with their mother, to get out of the country and return to Pakistan... And I'm sure the Anwan brothers have placed in the computers they had access to, devices which could record any future communications which come from and to those computers...I've been hacked before, believe me it can be done...key logging programs can be inserted into a computer's registry that are very difficult to find...So, there is so much more to the story than is being discussed now...some of the messy stuff the DNC did during the campaign, has been forgotten, because the discoveries made since then, have taken over the news.
    Knowing all that we know now, it is very difficult to trust the FBI, the Inspector General, who must have been under threat of some sort to determine there was no political bias evident in the FBI's investigations, or anyone associated with the DNC...after all we know Donna Brazile was giving Hillary the debate questions before the debates. What a mess. And all the crooks walk...Only in America...Can POTUS fire the FBI???

    I have admired and respected Charles Krauthammer since I first began seeing him on Fox News. His brilliant mind, his exceptionally pinpoint comments on every topic of discussion have always helped me to understand better what was being said. Now another brilliant mind will be going away when we need him so badly. Thank you Dr. Krauthammer, for helping so many of us understand better what is happening in our nation and in our world.     My heart is truly saddened with Mr kraut hammers analogy but am truly impressed with his sharing with the Nation all that he has accomplished in his life time.     Thank you for your great commentary on your new show and for standing strong for our country, our constitution and the true freedom of religion. As a Catholic, I watch your show regularly and decided to get the news from your website. I hope someday to have the honor to meet a great Governor, a great Patriot and a great American. I love how you incorporate clean humor, great entertainers and insightful comments in your show. Please tell your wonderful daughter how much we value her stalwart, intelligent and graceful work in that extremely difficult environment of dealing with an often hostile media.     Dear Mike, I always enjoy reading your articles as they are full of truth and good information. I have read several on Charles K and I am wondering about one thing that I read that he is not a Christian. He led a good life on earth but the best life is yet to come for those who have accepted Jesus as Savior. You, being a Christian, and your love for this man, could do the most beneficial thing for him to have him pray with you to become a Christian. I'm sure he would listen to you. I have already prayed for him and I ask you to please consider this. He may already be a Christian, and if he is, praise God, but if not, I would love to know that he left this life and entered his eternal home in heaven. Bless you Mike!

    Dear Mike,

    Dr. Krauthammer is a very special person. He has a very deep understanding of the major issues--and quite a few of the smaller ones as well. He would have been an outstanding member of a President's Cabinet.

    When the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette stopped, or at least severely curtailed their printing of his and Thomas Sowell's editorial comments, I let my subscription lapse. I felt that continuing to subscribe to the D-G would be subsidizing the drivel and utter nonsense that now makes up the editorial section.

    Dr. Krauthammer will be sorely missed.

    Love Charles Krauthammer.....would look forward to the mid-afternoon (Pacific Standard Time) when he was usually on the panel. If I happened to be in a room with no television, I would return to the living room when I heard his voice (sort of like, "When E. F. Hutton talks, everybody listens." Krauthammer was always brilliant and clear-thinking, cutting through all of the nonsense. I kept hoping he would return.

    Mr. Huckabee, I have always enjoyed listening to Mr. Krauthammer. He has amazing intellect, and a dry sense of humor. I am grieved, though, that he states that he believes there must be a supreme being, but that he is not particularly religious. I just want to know if he’s ready to meet his maker. Any thoughts?

    I am so saddened to hear about Charles Krauthammer. When he was ready to speak on TV, I always sat on the edge of my chair to listen because I knew he spoke with wisdom. Though I never knew the cause of his accident, he always looked sharp and seemed to enjoy his life. He will be missed by many but will join many in his afterlife.

    You are a highly intelligent and needed member of our society. I implore you to consider this place I am posting here. I realize you have made peace with the idea of leaving us now, but many people in stage 4 cancer with only weeks to live are being completely healed by this place. Please just take a look. I've not sent mail to anyone like this before, but I for one would really like to see you stay with us a good bit longer. The world needs more like you, but regrettably, I don't know where to find them. Please just look at it....

    How very sad that Charles Krauthammer has received this very sad news. He is an amazing person and we were so hoping he would return to FOX with his wonderful insightful commentaries. We have missed him greatly and will be so sorry to see him give up his fight against this awful disease. Mike, by his comments about "fate", he does not seem to be a believer :-( and for this we are even more saddened. You know him well, I'm sure. Is there any way you could share our Savior with him? To think this awesome man is going to a Christless eternity and permanent separation from the God who loves him is beyond our ability to cope.... if there is ANY way for you to reach him, we are praying you will do so.     From early years as a young women working for the Federal Government it was charles krauthammer that helped me question and form values. It was his eloquence and intellectual accountability that helped me form expectations for those men I dated, he was for me the epitome of what a man could achieve against difficult odds. He is my hero and I am devestated to face the rest of my life without hearing his comforting political banter that challenges me to think and question establishment . I wish him the ultimate peace and hope he knows that he has always been a hero for women of influence. God speed and know you have always had my grateful admiration from afar.....apparently there is a need for your council in the next realm.

    How can you as a former pastor not be concerned with Charles' spiritual condition? In describing life he has nothing to say that shows any relationship with God or Christ. If you could give me an email address I'll certainly attempt to have the message of salvation sent to him. Otherwise he'll receive the worst shock anyone can experience when he opens his eyes and finds himself in Hell.

    I only rarely disagreed with Charles, and even then not completely. I am deeply saddened by this news, I felt he was a friend even though I never personally met him. Some things connect us more firmly than physical contact or proper introduction, we were "intellectually entangled", you may have to ponder that idea for an extended time, I don't fully understand it myself. Charles was phenomenal.

    Charles is missed from that panel in my house. He is intelligent, wise, and practical. He certainly has demonstrated beyond any shadow of doubt that a misfortune or disability does not have to stop you from reaching your potential and goals. He will be a plus to those in heaven.

    Hi Mike, As I read the news and watch the absurdities unfold, I am reminded of the one source for all this nonsense. It goes back to the basics, which is that we have two Kingdoms going at it, God's Kingdom and Satan's kingdom. God gave his permission for Satan to "prowl" under certain guidelines. Why? I guess that some of us will find out later. The entire LGBT format is based on Satan's lies. There are multiple examples of homosexuals discarding Satan's yoke and returning to a normal productive fruitful life. The Transgender "joke" is nothing more than ignorance based on a populace dedicated to too much self gratification and not enough self improvement including a dysfunctional education system. Details available upon request. The "rabid" politicians give their obedience to Satan away in their demonic countenances (compare the current Gov. of NY to a former Gov. of Ark. for an example). Ignorance cemented in lies has no limit to its creative absurdity. Lincoln put it in perspective when he asked his cabinet, "How many legs does a cow have if you call the tail a leg?" Lincoln's answer was, "Calling the tail a leg doesn't make it one." You can make an overlay of Lincoln's "litmus test" and apply it about all of the goofy choices being promoted as "gospel" (Satan's "gospel"). Just thought you'd like to know... Bob
