Reader replies to my “Open Letter To Nancy Pelosi” are still pouring in. (If you haven’t co-signed the letter, please do, at Here’s one reply that’s especially fun, followed by an important update.

From Stephen S:

If Pelosi doesn’t want to release the impeachment to the Senate, this would sound like “obstruction of justice” and she should be charged as such.
Also it sounds like she is trying to influence the rules in the Senate, which can be construed as “bribery” or quid-for-pro.

From the Gov:

I like the way you think!

Important note: Nancy is pretending to have much more power in this than she really does. House procedure does not take precedence over Senate procedure. As explains, there is no Constitutional requirement that the Senate wait until the House appoints “impeachment managers,” and Sen. McConnell has no obligation to let them address the Senate or even have access to the Senate. He also has no obligation to “negotiate” with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. If he wants, McConnell can call the Senate, bring in the Chief Justice to preside, and vote to either to dismiss both charges, acquit the President, or go ahead with the trial on his own schedule, in whatever manner the Senators choose. The rules are up to them. Withholding the Articles of Impeachment is a toothless bluff on Pelosi’s part, apparently cooked up by law professor Laurence Tribe, and McConnell absolutely must stand up to her.

As Glinda the Good Witch said to the Wicked Witch of the West (Pelosi), “You have no power here! Begone!  Before somebody drops a 'House' on you, too!”

Nancy Pelosi's Scheme to Not Send Articles of Impeachment to the Senate Only Works If Mitch Mcconnell Allows It

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when parents across America crowd into churches to watch their kids perform in the Christmas Nativity play. Countless nine- and ten-year-olds are donning bathrobes and head towels, gluing on fake beards and standing in front of cardboard mangers to play Joseph, the Innkeeper and the Three Wise Men.

And no matter how charmingly amateurish they are, all of them are more convincing in their roles that Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats, who on Wednesday wrapped themselves in black, stood in front of cardboard American flags and tried to convince us that they are sincere defenders of the Constitution. Of course, they’d be equally unconvincing in the roles of Wise Men, but I digress.

(At this link, David Harsanyi of National Review echoes what I recently wrote about the nausea induced by having to listen to people who are waging war on the First Amendment and want to abolish the Second Amendment and the Electoral College drone on about how much they revere the Constitution as they impeach a President for invoking his due process rights:)

The absolute nadir came when Speaker Nancy Pelosi compared the Democrats’ anti-Trump political jihad to the World War II Battle of the Bulge, where 100,000 American soldiers were killed or wounded.  Did any House Democrats suffer by even missing a cocktail party during their assault on Trump and the Constitution?  That comment was as offensive as it was self-aggrandizing.

The Democrats’ endless impeachment theater flop finally limped to its weak finale (let us pray) yesterday, as the House voted to impeach President Trump along the very same partisan lines that Pelosi said would be divisive, destructive and unacceptable (she was right then, but they did it anyway.)  The only “bipartisanship” came when several Democrats defected and Tulsi Gabbard disappointingly wimped out and voted “present” on both counts.

Having unearthed no actual evidence of wrongdoing and cobbled together laughably weak “articles” of impeachment, the Democrats tried to shore up their rickety case with a “throw spaghetti at the wall and see if anything sticks” tactic.  They repeated “nobody is above the law” more times that the word “baby” appears in a Justin Bieber song (if it's true nobody is above the law, why is Hillary still walking around loose?)  And they regurgitated every out-of-context Trump quote, fake news story and anti-Trump Facebook meme of the past three years to try to justify their impeachment vote. All this did was remind us that the claim this is based on a phone call that happened last July is transparently bogus, and that they’ve been calling for Trump’s impeachment since Election night of 2016.  Some have already voted for it multiple times on similarly feeble “grounds.”

One of my favorite soliloquies came from Texas Rep. Al Green, who would call for impeaching Trump if he found lumps in his oatmeal. He hauled up a debunked Internet meme of a crying three-year-old allegedly separated from her mother at the border, apparently to prove Trump deserves impeachment for being a big meanie who enforces immigration laws (funny, I missed that in the Articles of Impeachment.)

Problem: The kid was never separated from her mother (who, by the way, had been previously deported, and brought her child on the dangerous journey to reenter the US illegally without even telling her father where they were.)   That child was merely crying for the same reason Democrats have been crying ever since Trump won the election: because she has the mentality of a three-year-old. At least she has the excuse of actually being three years old.

And when the bad impeachment theater finally reached its anticlimactic end, like many bad amateur actors, the performers dropped character and started high-fiving and celebrating before the curtain came down all the way.

I know the Democrats think they’ve accomplished something by putting a “stain” next to Trump’s name in the history books, but they’re dead wrong. The closest analogy I can make is to the stories of hate-filled jihadist bombers who set out to blow up an infidel and accidentally detonated themselves – or as I call those, “feel-good stories.” Trump will sail right along, his approval ratings buoyed by their unfair attack on him, and I predict, win reelection comfortably.  (His Gallup approval rating has risen 6 points just since this impeachment pageant went into rehearsals in September: )

Even as the vote was being taken, Trump was leading a rally in the once reliably Democratic blue collar state of Michigan, where thousands of people waited in long lines in freezing weather to see him. That’s got to put a chill into the DNC.

Long after this Congress is a bad memory, the talking heads are forgotten and the newspapers that vilify him daily are discarded bird cage liner, Trump will be judged by his many accomplishments.  The stain in the history books will be on this childish, viciously partisan House, for wasting the taxpayers’ time and money on a political vendetta that has cheapened, demeaned and weaponized one of the most serious responsibilities of Congress.

It’s the same thing that happened under Obama to the FBI, the DOJ, the IRS and other agencies that once had the respect of the public as nonpartisan professionals, and are now so tarnished, nobody trusts or believes a word they say.  All I’ll say to the House is, “Welcome to the Disgraced Club.”

If you’re interested in reading any more commentary on the Democrats’ lousy impeachment theater production, you might enjoy some of the entertainingly scathing reviews.  First up, my daughter Sarah Sanders…

Michael Goodwin at the New York writes, “Nancy Pelosi’s stomach-turning impeachment charade damages America”:

Don Surber asks the musical question, “Impeached? So what?”

As always, the Babylon Bee uses humor to tell the story more truthfully than the mainstream media will:

And if you have a little time, this is a must-read from the Bookworm blog.  It covers everything from the legal and historical reasons why the Democrats’ charges fail to reach the levels of impeachable offenses to some remarkably apt quotes from the courtroom chapter in “Alice in Wonderland” to some heartening evidence suggesting that even die-hard leftist, “#Resistance” Trump haters are tired of the constant bellyaching, protesting, whining and screaming, and are starting to realize they look stupid doing it when everything is going so well for virtually everybody now that their awful policies have been reversed.

And further evidence that even the pro-impeachment fanatics are fatigued with this boring show: Daniel Greenfield at Frontpage magazine notes that even in densely-populated, deep-blue cities, when organizers tried to stage pro-impeachment rallies, hardly anyone showed up.  Maybe after nearly three years of Trump, they all had jobs to go to.

(NOTE: While most people were distracted by the impeachment show, some real news was being made, including House passage of a massive spending bill to keep the government open that's loaded with more gifts to the left than could fit in Santa's sack. Don't worry, I won't let them sneak that past us. We'll talk about some of those stories in our next edition.)

One of President Trump’s most strident critics, former CIA Director John Brennan, finally admitted that “mistakes were made” in the FBI’s FISA court surveillance of former Trump aide, Carter Page.

You might think it’s a modern miracle that we have cars that drive themselves, but for years now, Washington has had “mistakes” that make themselves.  Even when an FBI staffer altered an email to remove exculpatory evidence to keep the FISA judges from seeing it, it wasn’t a deliberate act of fraud: it was a “mistake.”  One that somehow “got made.”

You know, like making John Brennan head of the CIA in the first place.  Or ever giving him a TV forum where anyone would give the slightest credence to anything he said.

I have ranted many times what a waste of time and taxpayers money this Farce of Impeachment has done. My point is going to be why would anybody vote for an Organization like the Democrats/Socialist Party its goal is first to gain the power and then turn into a Mitt Romney run organization to steal its way into into businesses then rip every asset from it and then let it crumble and rot leaving owners stockholders and workers holding a skeleton thats the future of a Democratic /Socialist Party thats what it will do for this country. Look at the cities under Their leadership Lawlessness, Filth, Disease, desperation, just to quote a few of the stains put on the public. People with success are running from this environment Corrupt politicians like Pelosi Maxine Watters Schiff Swalwell Gavin the list is long in the State of California is ruining the landscape and quality of living just a message to the corrupt officials diseases you are creating there can and will affect you and your family you can not write a law to prevent that.

I’m not sure why no one (that I’ve heard) has called out the Dems when they say “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW”.... How about all the illegal immigrants that come into our country “above the law”. I just get disgusted when they make this statement.

    House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,
December 13, 2019 marked the day when the final phase of destruction of the Democrat Party moved forward. Your party has stripped itself of all dignity in the march towards Global Socialist, and the extinguishing of freedom for those people of both America and the world who are outside of the “elite” circle. “Family” member George must be smiling, as well as you, your party members, and the international circle as impeachment has neared reaching the Senate lacking only a full House vote. Ole David Saul Alinsky once gave the instruction to push and keep on pushing, regardless of lies exposed and other setbacks, until the goal was accomplished. You have faithfully pursued his instruction, but, alas, what lies before you. By all measures it appears to be DOOM. You, though perhaps unintentionally, have educated the American people through both Congressional action (or lack thereof) and the corrupt impeachment process, as to the ills being fomented upon them! Many people, once ignorant of the hidden scheme to return to them to a barbaric culture with loss of both their freedom and knowledge of their Creator, now grasp the rot brought to light via this impeachment (sic) process. The Democrat objectives pursued through corruption and the fostering of a Godless society are now laid bare! NO respect for a legitimate president who was duly elected, NO respect for life by promoting abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia, No respect for the traditional family especially by legislating sodomy, and by ELEVATING respect for civil disobedience are all components of your siege upon Christian America. These are all clearly reflected as the Party’s agenda as they move forward on the path towards a BRAVE NEW WORLD.
Nancy, you claim to love everyone, and that this is a quality of your nature by virtue of being a Catholic. Please explain this as you have, without question, given your support to the killing of unborn infants as well as the newly born having survived abortion, “marriage” of same-sex persons, and the promotion of, essentially, open borders which also violates the Catholic Catechism concerning immigration as well as the citizens of America. You are promoting initiatives common to the United Nations as are certain heretical prelates within the Vatican!
Just who are you? As voices rise throughout the nation, it is clear you have openly defined yourself to moral patriotic Americans as to who you really are, a turncoat to the values so cherished! Your pursuits are REJECTED!
    A Patriotic Catholic American

I thought that threatening a president was a crime so why is J. Clyburn able to say he wants to hang the president. If it was the other way around it would be a racist event. I do not understand the Democrats they are very sick twisted individuals. I became a Republican in the past Presidential election due to their radical views.

Does Nan Pelosi really think the Senate doesn't already HAVE the Artichokes of Impeachment they passed into the loo? The manic media giddily pasted them to every lamppost in the land already!
Does she think she can take all that back? Nothing in the Constitution says the Senate has to wait for House Impeachment Managers to waltz their way from one end of the hall to the other... & if they decide not to come to the ball, well, so what? Their antics have been on TV & their feather-weight "arguments" batted around already. [Ever played with dented pingpong balls?]
Maybe the Senate could deal this the slam-dunk it deserves BEFORE Christmas!
What a present that would be to the Nation!

I have been a big fan. You and Rev. Jeffers have been the face of Evangelical Christianity, to me as a member of another faith. Who the heck is Christianity Today? Do they carry any weight? Galli actually beleives that the Democrats made their case over the phone call. Maybe he should pray for a new brain for Christmas. I hope isn't going to sway many.

You know, until I woke up and read that the Democrats had finally pulled the trigger, it suddenly occurred to me for the first time how similar the name Pelosi is to Pilate - like the feminine form for it. Of course, I'm not comparing the victims - just the villains here.
But you remember Pilate - the leader who knew there was no real case against his Victim, but caved to the radicals who were lathered with rage and twisted logic. They'd been after their target for three years but could never make anything stick. But when they finally got their chance, they broke every law in the book - a closed door trial, coached false witnesses who couldn't pull off a successful lie, violated the very Torah they claimed to defend, rent their garments as if mourning to hide their glee when the foregone verdict of their kangaroo court was finally in - all the while accusing the Condemned of being the real lawbreaker.
Today everyone remembers Pilate as the corrupt official who allowed the mob to condemn an innocent Man. I don't doubt that future history books will remember Pelosi in much the same way.
But of course, we all know how that ancient conspiracy backfired too, right?
    The more things change...
    Nothing new under the sun...

I think the demonrats want to hold sending impeachment to Senate for at least two reasons. 1. Hoping that after the 2020 election they will have Senate control, and 2. So many of our very good republicans senators with great discerning interviewing skills and tons of incriminating knowledge/evidence are leaving or not seeking reelection, giving demonrats a perceived edge. There should be a time limit in which they have to send impeachment to senate (i.e. 2 weeks, etc) or they become null and void.

Thank you governor Huckabee for all you do and your excellent comments.

I have confident that President Trump will be re-elected in 2020, after listening to Democratic debates, they have nothing to offer me or the American people. It was prophesied that President Trump would be President of the United States, I hear nothing about anyone that is running for President in the prophesy.

If Nasty Nancy does indeed choose to refuse to send the phony "Articles of Impeachment" over to the Senate, what are the chances that she, along with the other Democratic leaders could somehow be brought up on formal charges of misuse of public taxpayer funds for spending all this time and money on a pointless impeachment exercise?

Sir, your 'open letter' merely telegraphs intentions. You do not tell your enemy what you are about to do or what you might do--that simply prepares them for the coming storm. ---that idea is tantamount to letting the media know what the next military action will be in a war--they will dig up and publish all the invasion details-----our folks will be met with machine guns right where they are coming ashore---remember D-Day?????

Governor....thank you for your continued service to our Blessed country!

No one is talking about the CONFLICT OF INTERESTS related to FOUR DEMOCRATIC SENATOR candidates sitting as jurors in a case brought against the POTUS, their political adversary. It will be very interesting to see if they find the character to recuse themselves or vote 'present' in the fake impeachment trial in the Senate.
