Friday, in one of the most outrageous and infuriating decisions yet out of a California court (and that’s really saying something), a state appeals court threw out the one and only conviction against Jose Garcia-Zarate, who fired the gun that killed Kate Steinle on San Francisco’s Pier 14.

Garcia-Zarate was an illegal immigrant with seven felony convictions who had been deported six times, but because of San Francisco’s “sanctuary city” policies, the police refused to hold him for ICE to pick up and let him out onto the street. Despite him admitting that he handled the gun that killed Kate Steinle (he claimed it went off accidentally), a California jury refused to convict him of first- or second-degree murder or even manslaughter.  Instead, they convicted him on only one charge of illegal weapons possession.

And now, the appeals court has thrown out even that minor conviction on a technicality, ruling that the original judge “apparently did not instruct the jury to consider whether Garcia-Zarate may have been unaware that he was even holding a gun when it ‘just went off.’”

There are a lot of things I could say about the sheer insanity of California’s law, and how its officials seem to be fixated on protecting illegal alien criminals while not caring in the least about the citizens they prey on.  But Harmeet K. Dhillon at Fox News has already done a great job of saying it.  So I hope you will click on the link to read it, and then join me in saying a prayer for comfort for Kate Steinle’s family who have been cruelly denied justice and for a return of sanity to California, if it’s not too late.

I recently wrote about how the pro-gun control movement might be more convincing if its proponents would stop proving they know nothing about guns every time they open their mouths.

On Saturday in Odessa, Texas, a man who had just been fired from his job and who had a history of being violent and aggressive and frightening his neighbors (and had previously failed a gun buyer background check), went on a shooting spree after being stopped by the police.  He killed seven people and wounded 25 more.

But before anyone could even say a prayer for them, some politicians were already trying to exploit their deaths to promote their agendas, chief among them, of course, being “Beto” O’Rourke, who has made ranting the F-word about guns into his Presidential election strategy.  I suspect he repeats the F-word so many times because whenever he uses other words, he reveals that he knows nothing about this subject.

For instance, he declared that if elected, he would institute a mandatory “buyback” of all “assault weapons.”  This glosses over the fact that the President doesn’t have that power, or the money, and the government can’t “buy back” what it never owned: those guns are the owners’ personal property.  He also declared that he would confiscate all “semi-automatic firearms,” which would not only be unconstitutional, but as I’ve pointed out before, it would mean confiscating virtually every gun made since the late 1800s.

But even that pales in ignorance compared to Joe Biden’s proclamation that if elected, he would ban “magazines that can hold multiple bullets in them.”

Since a magazine is a piece of equipment that holds multiple bullets, this apparently means he would only allow magazines that hold one bullet.  We could call them “Barney Fife Magazines.”

I’m more than willing to listen to any proposal that would actually help prevent mass shootings, but if you want to be taken seriously, then please do some research first so you don’t sound like everything you know about guns you learned from MAD magazine.

What does it mean when you see TV news commentators become very agitated about an unsourced and already-denied claim that President Trump asked if a nuclear bomb could be used to disrupt a hurricane over the ocean, and then claim that it’s proof he’s racist, even though no minorities live in the middle of the ocean and hurricanes have no race?  It means that either you are having hallucinations, or you’re watching CNN.

Elizabeth Warren bashed the “obscene” practice of profiting off college students, but failed to mention that she wrote a textbook that sells for $258.97. Extra helping of irony: it’s a textbook called “The Law of Debtors and Creditors.”  Lesson one: Buy this book, and you will be the former.

Yes, the mass killings by guns is a deplorable happening in our country, but the same people, for the most part, advocating gun control are the same people who support the daily killing of 3000+ of our U S citizen babies. Compare the numbers. Does this make sense??!!

    Dear Honorable Former Governor Huckabee,
Thank you for your prayer request for the Steinle family in the wake of the latest court decision regarding Kate's murderer (my opinion) and felon in possession of a firearm. They forgot to consider that he threw the gun into the bay after he murdered (my opinion) Kate so that was a second time he was in possession of a firearm along with attempting to destroy evidence.
Another topic...if the Gilroy police did not actually kill the mass murderer at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, they certainly prevented him from murdering any more. Please pray for the families of the victims. Last topic...regarding the tragic boat fire in Southern California on Labor Day morning, 2019, multiple reports stated witnesses hearing explosions, one stating even before the fire broke out, while some insist there were no explosions. Either there were or were not explosions. Every account I've read or heard expressed the highest regard for the ship, it's owner, it's maintenance, and the company involved in the excursion. I hope we'll get the truth about what happened, but mostly please pray for the families of the victims of this horrific tragedy. Blessings Always to You and Your Family.

I'm a fan of yours and read this every day butttt, I think we need gun controls on AK 47 type weapons and better background checks. There is a problem in this country and I think it was stupid when the courts or who every decided that anyone with a license could walk in (almost) anywhere with their concealed weapon

Beto only shows his ignorance when the only word he can think of to make a point is the F-word. Why is he, and other politicians, allowed to get away with using that kind of language?

Your news is quick, to the point, what we need to read and greatly appreciated! Hmm... What intro words to use when sharing it to the left so they will be open minded and not angry?
I forgive and love all and therefore want to truly make American Greater!

Fact check Mr. H- 1800's? There are semi-auto pistols and then you have revolvers. Revolvers come in single action form or double Action form. Normal capacity is 6. Revolvers can be just as deadly but semi-automatics are much worse, can have larger magazines which can be changed quickly. For the record I have a micro 380 and 9mm. I also have a concealed carry permit. Rarely do I take a pistol with me but I am having second thoughts on maybe I should carry more often.

So most of the 2020 wanna-be's are going to confiscate our guns, along with all their other socialist ideas--I'm thinking they all sound like they think they've already won the election, and plan to drop us into socialist obscurity probably even before the swearing in.

And, beto-boy and friends are apoplectic about how un-Presidential they deem President Trump to be--but he uses the f word--frequently and often? How Presidential sounding that is.

I'm surprised the leftist/socialist puppeteers haven't provided at least the wanna-be's with their own little teleprompters so they would have the answers to tough questions. Maybe ocasio should have one issued, too. But, maybe the puppeteers are under the impression they are in control of all the press, and there shouldn't be any hard questions thrown at them.

Business owners and Human Resources professionals should adopt a policy of reporting employee firings to local law enforcement agencies. Motivation to do so relates to liability aspects of a disgruntled dismissed employee.

Up until the Texas shooter, and his toxicology report isn't in yet, every shooter before him had psychotropic drugs in him. You can look it up yourself. These drugs are given by Psychiatrists and other MDs, they cause the person to have almost overpowering urges toward killing others and yourself. The results of Drug Companies pushing drugs they know are faulty. The dead should convict them.

You really want to mass shootings? Make parents responsible to parent and put God back in homes and schools. No about of whining by city folk, promises by politicians, or new "red flag" laws will have any effect.

Why call single-round magazines "Barney Fife" magazines. Name them after the inventor, bloviatin' Joe Biden. What could be more appropriate than naming single-ound magazines for the leading small-caliber, one shot candidate. (Even though he is small caliber, he IS a big bore).

History has proven that banning (outlawing) an item that the public has chosen as necessary or sought after just does not work..... prohibition is the ideal example.... and the shooter in Midland/Odessa proves that expanded background checks will not stop those who are determined to kill others. We should be so rampant in our attitude toward drunk driving or drug abuse deaths.

Such a sad state of affairs. Our country is a mess because of the liberals feeding the trusting Americans a bunch of lies.

Praying our people will wake up and vote according to God’s principals not the lies of the media and liberals.

Just watched the movie "The Trump Prophecy" about a true event that promoted a large prayer wave across the USA and Israel in 2011... This should be viewed in every church in the nation-- it won't make the theaters..this is a story that explains the Trump victory. I hope the president has seen this.

Dem candidate Yang: I like Yang for 1 thing only: mentions Thorium Reactors.
NO other Dem or GOP candidate has done such.
    IE specifics for ideas etc.
IF Yang follows others on issues, then I can agree with him on ONLY Thorium reactors.
Read where they use other fuel more prevalent vs uranium reactors.
Await other comments by Yang on other issues

Gov. Huckabee I thoroughly enjoy your newsletters and comments. I do have a questions about your publication of the newsletter, I did not receive Sept. 1 or Sept 2 editions until Sept. 3, and since I look forward to this information could someone explain why?
    Thank You,
