1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7

2. Perfect Example of Media Bias:

One of many reasons why most Americans no longer trust news media outlets is that so many of them make the story not about pursuing the truth but all about them: their beliefs, their political biases, the media reactions to the media reactions to the media reactions. And we got a perfect example of that yesterday.

As the Dow was plunging by a thousand points (thankfully, it did recover by the end of the day) and the world worried about Russia sparking World War III, there was a media frenzy over President Biden’s rude reaction to a question by Fox News’ Peter Doocy. During an event Monday, Doocy attempted to ask Biden if inflation was going to be a major issue in the November elections, and Biden ignored him but was heard on his open mic mocking the question and calling Doocy a “stupid son of a b----.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/thanks-hot-mic-entire-world-hears-biden-curse-fox-reporter-nailed-tough-question/

Granted, this raises legitimate concerns. One of Biden’s big campaign points in attacking Trump was to claim he would always respect the press.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/01/24/analysis-the-real-biden-peeks-out-from-behind-the-mask-n511984

Trump sparred with the press, but reporters were often just flat-out nasty and harangued and attacked him to his face (I know, because they did it to his spokespersons, too, and I am quite close to one of those.) But Biden scolds and curses reporters just for asking legitimate questions.

It also raised alarm bells with those who worry about Biden’s mental state, as flying into rages is common among elderly people suffering cognitive decline. Biden did later call Doocy to “clear the air” (notice Doocy wouldn’t say he apologized.)

https://www.foxnews.com/media/fox-news-peter-doocy-biden-cleared-the-air

But then, this is the second time in a week that he’s attacked a reporter for asking a reasonable question.

To their credit, Doocy and most people at Fox News laughed off the incident, but the reaction at other outlets was as disturbing as Biden’s own outburst. The same outlets that would have gone ballistic over this “assault on the press” if Trump had said the same thing rushed to downplay or even celebrate Biden’s outburst. For instance, CNN’s Brian Stelter said Biden “deadpanned” the comment, as if it were a witty jest.

https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2022/01/24/cnn-has-received-the-talking-points-president-joe-biden-deadpanned-that-stupid-sob-line-about-peter-doocy/

Stelter also predicted that Fox would turn it into 48 hours of furious outrage, which is what CNN would have done had it been Trump, but the opposite of what Fox did, since conservatives still have a sense of humor.

https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2022/01/24/president-biden-caught-on-hot-mic-calling-fox-news-peter-doocy-a-stupid-son-of-a-btch/

And some liberals went into a fit of rage at the fact that Republicans still have a sense of humor and didn't go into a fit of rage.

https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2022/01/24/media-matters-deputy-director-of-rapid-response-seems-upset-peter-doocy-and-jesse-watters-dont-seem-upset/

So while the jury is still out about what Biden’s profane outbursts against the press say about Biden’s mental processes, the reaction of the media to them makes it very clear what’s going on in their heads, and it ain’t objective journalism.

3. A Tale of Two ‘60s Rock Rebels

Agree with him or not, Eric Clapton is willing to take all the flak and threats of having his music “canceled” to stand up against what he sees as a false government narrative on COVID-19.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2022/01/24/he-dont-lie-eric-clapton-makes-quite-the-statement-about-vaxxed-n1552453

Meanwhile, Neil Young (who wrote the song “Ohio” after the Kent State shootings to protest the government repressing protesters) is now demanding that Spotify either stop hosting Joe Rogan’s podcast that questions the government COVID narrative or remove all his music from streaming.

https://redstate.com/jerrywilson/2022/01/25/neil-young-tells-spotify-its-either-him-or-joe-rogan-n512043

Of course, as the Redstate.com story notes, Young already has a contentious relationship with Spotify and has his own streaming service, so that’s hardly much of a threat. Still, it seems odd to hear such a counterculture icon now taking a strong stand on behalf of silencing dissenters who want to use their free speech rights to question what the government is telling us.

4. This will certainly intimidate the Russians:

The Army Twitter page tweeted a photo of a female soldier crawling under barbed wire with a quote from a Lana Del Rey song. It read, “Being brave means knowing that when you fail, you don’t fail forever.”

https://www.toddstarnes.com/military-2/army-slammed-for-woke-tweet-quoting-lana-del-ray/

I hate to be the one to break this to our new “woke” Pentagon leaders, but when you’re on the battlefield, yes, failing DOES mean you’ve failed forever. Once you’re KIA, you don’t get a do-over. Maybe they should go back to studying the battle tactics of George Washington, Dwight Eisenhower and George S. Patton instead of the lyrics of Lana Del Rey.

5. Scientific Proof:

Great article by Selwyn Duke at American Thinker on scientific data that clearly proves males have a physical advantage over females in athletics regardless of their (artificially-suppressed) testosterone levels.

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2022/01/_i_can_prove_transwomen_have_an_advantage_over_real_women_in_sports.html

6. “Spudpocalypse:”

As if we didn’t have enough shortages on grocery shelves to worry about, now we have to sweat over a potential “spudpocalypse.”

https://www.bostonherald.com/2022/01/24/canadian-spudpocalypse-campaign-targets-massachusetts-as-governments-chop-prince-edward-island-potatoes/

If only we didn't have so many Mr. Potato Heads in charge of the government.

7. National Poll Worker Recruitment Day

The US Election Assistance Commission has designated January 25th as National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. I think we all know (even if some people don't want us to say so) how important it will be in November to have plenty of volunteers working the polls to ensure that the ballots are handled properly and the elections are conducted fairly, honestly and in compliance with the law.

One of the best ways you can help protect election integrity is to volunteer as a poll worker and be on the scene with eyes and ears open. To find out more about how to sign up to volunteer as a poll worker in your local community, visit this website:

Great issue of your newsletter! Thank you so much for the entry on Eric Clapton and Van Morrison. Makes me want to run right out and buy those songs EXCEPT they're probably not available in mainstream music stores. Too controversial...like sexually explicit lyrics and those encouraging violence against police are so patriotic!!

After 50 years both in government service and a contractor across a full range of agencies - DoD, NASA, USCBP, RRB, HCFA (now CMS-Medicare), SSA, Indian Health Service, etc. - I offer the following be required of all Federal candidates seeking office, appointed or elected judges and all government appointees. 1.) Pass the USCIS citizenship test required before any immigrant may receive American citizenship, and 2) Pass at least a basic background test that is required of every employee and contractor of the U.S. government. When a Supreme Court Justice doesn't know the difference between what a State's power is versus Federal power about mandates we are in serious trouble. A fundamental understanding of the law of the land and meeting a background requirement that every Federal worker and contractor is required to meet should be the minimum required to represent the people of the U.S.

Here in California where it is the land of mass mail in voting; abundant and every growing number of ballot drop boxes (unattended/chain of command?); DMV "motor voting"; voter ID and verification of citizenship?; and an ever growing exodus of people who might otherwise be able to affect a change. Oh, and did I mention there are even case people can print out ballots online and submit? Please help me understand what good being a poll observer will accomplish in this voting climate? I feel that it might be an exercise in frustration and futility.

When you titled one article as "Spudpocalypse" I thought maybe you were referring to this story:
