Hopeful signs that Trump Derangement Syndrome may be curable: one of Hollywood’s most popular actors, who once threatened to leave America if Trump were elected, has had it with his peers’ constantly rooting for Trump's presidency to fail. “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston told the Hollywood Reporter, “Why would you want that? So you can be right?...I don’t care if you’re a Republican and I’m a Democrat or whatever, I don’t care. A good idea’s a good idea. Let’s do that. We’ve got to get away from this idea that our country is a political football, and someone with a different opinion is the enemy. Assume they love this country as much as you do, and there’s always room for improvement. How can we make it better?”

Kudos to him for seeing the corrosive effects of mindless partisan rancor and rejecting them. I just hope this doesn’t destroy his career. In Hollywood, you can drug and rape a 13-year-old girl or sexually assault women for years and still rack up the Oscar wins, but openly placing common sense and the good of America over kneejerk anti-Trumpism might be unforgivable.

Man after my own heart...finally someone in Hollywood with a head on his shoulders. Thanks for "coming out", and I hope it doesn't ruin your career. Kudos!

Gloria, you are exactly why they keep doing it -- you say you are disgusted, but not disgusted enough to actually take a hit yourself and cut the cord. Empty threats have never accomplished anything. What would it actually take for you to really be done with it?

As I see it (concerning the NFL) to the owners of such a big conglomerate as the NFL and it IS a business, why would any employer pay for an employee to destroy their business? Every time "taking a knee" is looked upon as a right, then deserves to lose their business. There are a lot more companies that have zero tolerance for politics and religion discussion in the workplace as it should be. I being a Christian do not want to have to put up with the rhetoric of the negativity of someone else's opinion about both politics and their opinion about their religion, especially during a ball game. So it should be for the NFL. If the owners can not allow us to enjoy and come together and forget our differences for an afternoon, then treat it like a business. Your employees (players) are destroying your business. A lot of us fans are serious about walking away from NFL.....forever!

    Re NFL:
Wish I could take credit for this idea, but it originated elsewhere.

Replace whiny NFL players with international rugby players. Great talent pool, transferrable skills, accustomed to playing with leather balls (no sissy helmets and pads; no injury timeouts unless there is a broken bone showing).
