ICE cracking down

January 12, 2018

One of the most effective ways of preventing illegal immigration has always been to target the employers – people are less likely to come here illegally if there aren’t ready jobs for them. But maybe because big employers have more political pull than poor illegal immigrants, it’s a step the government has seemingly been hesitant to take – until now.

ICE just conducted nationwide raids on nearly 100 7-11 convenience stores, after a company audit showed they allegedly had unauthorized workers on the payroll. This is reportedly just the first step in a crackdown on employers small, medium and Super Big Gulp size. ICE’s Acting Director said he hopes this will send a message that employers will be held accountable for encouraging illegal immigration by hiring undocumented workers. That’s probably the strongest signal yet that when it comes to illegal immigration, there’s a new sheriff in town.

Well, that and the fact that deportation arrests are up 40% in the past year. And I assume the government no longer tells deportees, “Thank you, and come again!”

    Dear Mr. Huckabee,
Why do we need illegals here to work in our fields, when we have "low-level offenders" crowding our jails?
Why not set up a program where they would pay debt to society and earn a wage for when they are released?
    Just asking/Gerri

Several years ago when the illegals marched on all capital cities protesting and it backfired on them I personally saw neighborhoods abandoned and people went home---Mexico. Where 5-6 cars per duplex once stood none could be found. I saw Americans once again driving delivery trucks, crossing the road to the hospital construction site, working fast food and all with a big smile on their faces. E-Verify is alive and well and should be enforced. I am repulsed at liberals that come on Fox news and spew the most ridiculous views but am glad they do because anyone with common sense can see how off base they really are. Love to get these emails, Mr. Huckabee.

The people from Mexico have always come to America to harvest produce as long as I can remember, and I am 78 years old. They came, with green cards, picked the crops, and then returned back home to Mexico. And I also remember when legal immigrants had to have a sponsor before they could come into this country. Their sponsor was legally responsible for them. And they followed the rules and procedures to become citizens with great pride. Many of the American men in the construction business are out of work, because the illegals will work for less. I am so happy to see that ICE is taking action to round these illegals up and deport them. There was a time when they came to Arkansas to the racetrack in Hot Springs, and carried them out by the busload for deportation if they were here illegally . Keep up the good work, ICE
