Omarosa's new book

August 13, 2018

I haven’t commented on Omarosa Manigault Newman’s upcoming book about the Trump White House because, frankly, I don’t think it’s worthy of comment.  The anti-Trump media, who ridiculed her when she defended him (saying she knew him personally and he was not a racist) are giving her tons of fawning publicity now that she’s turned on him (she claims she knows him personally, and he’s a big racist.)

I always assumed she was someone who got a White House position primarily because Trump either liked her personally or he needed staffers, didn’t want the usual DC insiders and had a limited pool of people he knew and trusted who would take the jobs.  She came in with a reputation mostly for creating drama and drawing attention to herself, and she seems to be continuing those habits. The book is getting a lot of attention in some quarters for its incendiary claims, but it’s not even out yet, and the handful of reporters who still put journalistic integrity ahead of getting Trump are already poking it full of more holes than a carload of Swiss cheese.

Commentary continues below advertisement

A few examples: she claims there is a tape of Trump saying racist things on the set of “The Apprentice,” but her story keeps changing (in one version, she admits she hasn’t even heard the alleged tape.) The book claims Trump fought with the chief usher over installing a tanning bed in the White House (a senior official says there is no tanning bed and one has never been requested.) The book says that Omarosa heard from someone that pollster Frank Luntz heard Trump use the “N-word.” Luntz calls that “flat-out false;” he says he never heard such a thing nor said it, and nobody even contacted him to vet the claim before publishing it. And Kellyanne Conway’s husband George, an outspoken Trump critic, refuted a claim that Trump made a racist comment about him, noting that it allegedly happened six months after Omarosa left the White House. He called the story “absurd all around.”  The White House dismissed the book as “a disgruntled former…employee trying to profit off these false attacks.”

This seems to be the latest example of how anything that badmouths Trump enough will sell to people who are desperate to hear anybody badmouth Trump (look at all the Emmy nominations that trend scored for late night “comedy” show hosts.)  Liberal media outlets told us that we shouldn’t take Omarosa seriously when she praised candidate Trump and swore he was not racist.  They told us not to take her seriously when she worked in the White House.  Now that she’s saying bad things about him that don’t hold up to the slightest factual scrutiny, we’re supposed to take her seriously?  Sorry, guys: your bias is showing.

Incidentally, this is not in any way meant to downplay the seriousness of racism.  I grew up in the South during the Civil Rights era.  I saw the evils of racism first hand, and felt intense admiration for the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr’s peaceful civil rights crusade.  As a Christian and a former pastor whose congregation included people of all races, I believe that racism is far more than a character flaw. It is an evil and one of the worst possible sins to believe that any fellow human being is inherently inferior to yourself, when we are all made in the image of God. If you are pro-life and believe that every life is sacred, then you cannot be a racist and believe that some lives are less sacred than others.

It’s become all too easy and common for people to throw that accusation around for cheap political gain, without regard for the seriousness of the charge or the divisive effect on society.  But it is precisely because racism is such a pernicious evil that making a false accusation of it is among the worst forms of slander.  By all means, if there is real racism, point it out so that it may be rooted out.  But make sure you know the facts before you make the charge.  Otherwise, you are playing with fire, and a lot of innocent people can get burned.

Sarah can't guarantee that tapes won't surface with Trump using the N word because it likely exists just like a tape exists saying he can grab women by the pussy. Trump saying the N word on tape won't diminish his appeal to those of your ilk. Trump has famously stated that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and his followers would still blindly praise him. If he shot an N word on fifth avenue, they would celebrate. Have you ever said the N word Mike? I kinda think you might have. Do you think it's alright for Trump to grab Sarah by the pussy because he can. REPENT!

Remember the Central Park 5, the overt discrimination in his real estate dealings, his saying an American judge of Mexican heritage wouldn't give him fair treatment in the Trump University case. There's a lot more he's said and done that establishes a history of racism. So root it out. Sarah couldn't guarantee a tape doesn't exist. Omarosa will reveal more drip by drip. Sarah will continue to lie and you still haven't repented. REPENT!

Governor Huckabee, This comment is concerning your article on "Examining The Bible". I respectfully disagree with the premise of the linked article. There is a difference between the "Critical Text" and "Traditional/Received Text". Most of the modern translations of the Bible are based on the Critical Text as begun by the German Rationalist Constantin von Tischendorf. "The Critical Text omits more than 2,800 words when compared with the Traditional Text." Reference Neither Oldest Nor Best, How the Foundational Manuscripts of Modern Bible Translations are Unreliable, pg 22; written by Dr. David Sorenson. I highly recommend This and his earlier book titled "Touch Not the Unclean Thing." As a pastor perhaps you can explain what the entry and foot note in the ESV verses of Mark 16 means. These verses are unmarked in the King James Version. Here is what is written in the ESV text as found in The BibleGateway web site. "[Some of the earliest manuscripts do not include 16:9–20.][a] Footnotes:
Mark 16:9 Some manuscripts end the book with 16:8; others include verses 9–20 immediately after verse 8. At least one manuscript inserts additional material after verse 14; some manuscripts include after verse 8 the following: But they reported briefly to Peter and those with him all that they had been told. And after this, Jesus himself sent out by means of them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation. These manuscripts then continue with verses 9–20" I can also provide questions about the interpretations of the Critical Text of Luke 2:33 and 1 John 5:7. For years I used the NASB version until I heard Dr Sorenson give a lecture on the subject of the differences of the modern versions of the Bible and the King James version.

Having taught Journalism and worked for newspapers, the article about the structuring of sentences to slant the news is spot on. One of the best you've had on your page, which is always terrific.

Hiring this woman was a big mistake on Trump's part. She is a soap opera and disaster in the making. This drama queen is playing right into the media's dirty hands. Judy Hudson

    Governor,
I don't pay attention to all these "tell all books" frankly I don't think they should even be written. Omarosa is looking out for herself and whar she can get out of the publicity! But she could be in trouble for recording conversations within the White House! Hope so.
Loved your show over the weekend, Wink Martindale and his "I stand" was marvelous as was the young man with his Walk Away, both were awesome, more people should think this way and I think Wink's "stand" should be viewed before every NFL game! Michael Reagan was also a great guest, loved the item, "if you don't like it MOVE!" More liberals should move, thought many were going to Canada, guess they had second thoughts about leaving the greatest country on earth!
Can't wait to see Sarah on your show next week,
    hugs

As you state how serious slander is, let us look at scripture. It states gossipers will not enter the kingdom of heaven. We are certainly seeing and hearing a ridiculous amount of gossip these days. Any Christian who chooses to believe lies and then pass them on should carefully and prayerfully consider this. We can so easily find the truth these days with the internet, that we should before we spread the gossip. We certainly are experiencing the embodiment of the phrase that the news these days is simply glorified gossip.

This girl is just an ingrate. Without Trump she would be nowhere. He supported her career, or gave her one, supported her heavily in her last wedding. Is that what racist do? I am waiting for those tapes and I am sure looking forward to the fact that they would be a lot of noise over absolutely nothing. When Trump was supporting the democrats no one thought of him as a racist, now they say he is the author of it. Damn hypocrites. These kind of fake stories by never-do-wells like Omarosa would only serve to disadvantage many of our black folks as it plays to the stereotype that black folks are unstable mentally and unable to deal with high level power stuff, remember Michelle Obama giving the eye to John Boehner the House Speaker at a public meeting. Terrible woman. She is fake news just trying to sell books because she's got nothing else to go to.

    "Omarosa's New Book",
Everything after "Incidentally, this is not in any way meant to downplay the seriousness of racism" sounds like a guilty man trying to convince the jury he is innocent.
If you're innocent please stop sounding guilty.

I love your newsletter but I wish you would use a recent Bible translation such as the New American Standard for the verse of the day. The King James version is difficult for most of us to understand and particularly for those that do not attend church regularly.

It's difficult to remember the lies one tells. She insisted that she resigned in a private meeting with Kelly. She then states that the others present would speak against her if untrue and then plays a tape of her notifying President Trump that she was fired. Hard to keep stories straight when you lie.

The above is excellent information. I was Just watching the "TODAY" and this woman was on. I had to immediately turn off my tv, she was so obnoxious and ridiculous to me that after a couple of minutes, I said to myself, "shut it down. who is she trying to convince." She was also very rude to Katic Curic (in my opinion), so she made no points with me today!
Thank you for your comments that cemented my feelings about the very first comments made.
Thank you for keeping us up with what is really news and what is fake.

Hooray for Mr. Kimball of the Spectator USA! You don't have to be a pro-life advocate to see that the NYT has completely bought into the "all pages are now editorial pages" syndrome. I stopped even looking at the NYT since its series of how the left hates the rights did all it could to inflame those feelings further about four years ago.

On the abortion issue the Roman Catholic Church is, thankfully, still doing what the early Christians did, namely rescue babies from the trash piles where good Romans "exposed their children", i.e. left them to die. In the future we will recognize 98% of abortions for what they were, namely a societal acquiescence of genocide.

In my lifetime we have gone from a position in which religious scruples were admired, to ignored, and now finally to reviled. May God have mercy on his wayward children and bring them back to sanity.
