Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire testified Thursday before Adam Schiff’s “Intelligence” Committee, and he displayed the same level of frustration and annoyance that any professional adult must feel when dealing with such a coterie of clowns as Schiff, Swalwell, et al.  You have to feel for anyone who is forced to sit in front of a panel of alleged lawmakers and have to explain to them, over and over, at great length and in words of one syllable, what the “law” is.

Here's an interesting take on that alleged "whistleblower" complaint, written by someone who is not a political partisan with an ax to grind but an actual expert who's worked in the CIA and the NSC and even edited transcripts of Presidential phone calls with other world leaders. He raises some very interesting questions that I haven't heard anyone else mention yet concerning what sort of "help" the person might have had in preparing this statement.

I confess that I don’t quite understand all the outrage, including some from the Republican side, about President Trump wanting Ukraine to look into the firing of the prosecutor who was about to investigate Hunter Biden’s lucrative gig there.  It’s being painted purely as an attack on a political rival because Biden is running for President, but he’s also on video, bragging about using the threat of withholding over a billion dollars in US aid to force Ukraine’s government to fire a prosecutor.

The Democrats want to impeach Trump just on a rumor of him slow-walking aid to pressure Ukraine to change a policy.  If that’s such a terrible offense, then why isn’t the chief law enforcement officer of the US duty-bound to look into such an egregious, admitted instance of it by a former Vice President?  Well, you see (according to Trump’s critics), okay, fine, Biden did threaten Ukraine with a quid pro quo, but he did nothing wrong because his intentions were good and pure.  That prosecutor was corrupt, or so goes the narrative, so he needed to be fired. Joe's a hero! Here are two top CNN anchors making that risible argument:

Two points:  First of all, whose word do we have that the prosecutor was the one who was corrupt?  The word of the former government of Ukraine, a government so famously corrupt that the people voted by over 73% to put a politically-inexperienced TV comedian in charge of it, just to throw the bums out?

Secondly, and I know this again makes me a relic of a bygone age, but I don’t really give a flying fig how good Biden’s intentions were. If what he did was so bad that it’s an impeachable offense, then his intent is irrelevant.  If I blackmail you to force you to exercise regularly and eat your veggies, the results might be positive for you in the long run, but I’m still an extortionist.

This reminds me of when James Comey pulled the “lack of intent” standard out of thin air to exonerate Hillary Clinton for sending classified documents on an unsecure server.  The law against that has no loophole for lack of malicious intent; military members have gone to jail for sharing classified information completely unintentionally.

The best I can figure is that we now have a new legal standard: no matter what you do, you cannot be investigated or prosecuted as long as you’re running for President as a Democrat. Just think, Jeffrey Epstein might be alive and free today if he’d only thought to announce his candidacy.  After all, it’s not like he didn’t have plenty of contacts in the Party.

Speaking of things that are only a crime when Trump allegedly does them (or even thinks about doing them), just last year, three leading Senate Democrats – Dick Durban, Patrick Leahy and Bob Menendez – wrote a letter to a Ukraine prosecutor, bluntly warning that if they didn’t cooperate with Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump, the three might oppose US aid to Ukraine.  In short, they threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless it helped investigate their political opponent in the 2020 election.

If you don’t think that anyone could be a brazen enough hypocrite to do that and then demand an investigation of Trump and even endorse impeachment hearings against him for allegedly threatening to withhold aid to Ukraine unless it helped investigate his political opponent in the 2020 election, then you have not been following Washington politics for very long.

By “Huckabee” writer/pop culture historian Pat Reeder (

We’re sad to report that popular 1950s and ‘60s TV ventriloquist Jimmy Nelson has died in Florida at 90.  Nelson was the last living member of the first generation of great TV ventriloquists that included Edgar Bergen (okay, he was a ventriloquist on radio first, which never ceased to baffle some people), Shari Lewis, Senor Wences ("'S'aw right? S'aw right!") and Paul Winchell.  Nelson was a clean-cut fellow who played straight man to dummy Danny O’Day and a slow-talking dog named Farfel.

In a career that spanned over 70 years, he appeared on many variety and kids’ shows, but what he’s best loved and remembered for are the 120+ TV commercials he made for Nestle’s, which ended with Danny singing, “N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestle’s make the very best…" and Farfel adding, "Chooooooc…laaaate.”  Then “Click!” went his mouth to put an exclamation point on it.

By all accounts, Nelson was an extremely nice man and a great dad who loved performing (even doing shows for schools and senior centers after he officially retired) and encouraging young ventriloquists.  If you’re one of the many Baby Boomers who grew up watching Jimmy, Danny and Farfel on Ed Sullivan and other such shows, here’s a great tribute to him that includes an interview and a number of classic video clips for your nostalgic enjoyment.  RIP Jimmy Nelson, and thanks to you, Danny and Farfel for all the laughs.

Mr. Huckabee: Re: President Trump asking the Ukraine president to look into Joe Biden corruption.
I believe there is something we can do. The people have to take back our government. We, the people, gave President Trump a mandate to "drain the swamp". We voted for it in the 2016 election. The peoples' mandate, by the Constitution or precedent, must take priority over congress. We have to demand it. There can be no impeachment of the President by congress for carrying out the peoples' mandate to drain the swamp, the swamp which likely includes Joe Biden who wants to be president and we will not know about Biden until there is an investigation. And, as well, congress does not have the right to stop the President from carrying out the peoples' mandate to drain the swamp. I want President Trump to drain the swamp. Let our voices be heard.

Governor Huckabee, is there anything we can do as citizens to stop the Democrats from drawing their salaries for ignoring their sworn oaths to uphold the constitution and work for the betterment of our country! They are not even pretending to do their sworn duties! Something has to be done!

I read all of your articles. I also listen to Mark Levin and several others on Blaze TV. And all of you present intelligent facts and information. But I like many of your readers are extremely frustrated that with so many of these crooks in Washington D.C. and beyond just keep getting away with all they have done to target the President and to harm our nation. Doesn't seem like the likes of Hillary, Obama, Comey, Brennan and a very long list of Democrats will ever be held accountable. And what is wrong with the Republicans. Only a few speak up. Our the rest threatened or blackmailed or just would rather remain silent and let the Demorats agenda continue. The Democrats and the mainstream media are the ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE and so many of your readers and others know this, yet we see nothing happening where many just keep going ahead with their evil agenda and destroying our nation. All while way too many Republicans say nothing and the Democrats run rough shod over the spineless ones. Trying to have some level of hope that real accountability and justice will be seen, but the hope is fading and the swamp only gets deeper.

    Mr. Huckabee,

Please STOP jumping on the band wagon of DESCRIBING the water WE ARE ALL DROWNING IN and ACTUALLY START DOING SOMETHING TO STOP IT! WE, the PATRIOTS, KNOW what's going on BUT no one of formidable POLITICAL INFLUENCE, from either side, IS DOING ANYTHING TO STOP the Democrats & RINOs from destroying OUR CONSTITUTION by taking down OUR PRESIDENT with ZERO evidence of any WRONGDOING! WHERE IS BILL BARR or is he TRULY Jeff Sessions 2.0? With YOUR influence, PLEASE START talking to the GOOD PEOPLE of POWER YOU KNOW and come up with a PLAN to STOP this madness before WE, the PATRIOTS, exercise OUR DUTY & RESPONSIBILITY to OVERTHROW this nearly irredeemable CORRUPTION called the US CONGRESS!

Your readers myself included had referred to the Obama Administration as a Crime syndicate which it was and still is in full operation. Last week my comments were the media Left picks a topic Racism Recession and so on, this weekly feature is the crime boss narrative, real inventive.on the Left they are just a bunch of wood dolls with strings attached to them. Repeat what they are told, Speaking of Crime syndicate looks like Obama's captains Leahy Dirty Dick Durbin and Menendes still may find their freedoms in jeopardy and how about Bluemedahl the blooming and now fading idiot has reared his smug mug for his 2 cents. I have spoke unfavorably about that beauty Romney taking Mc Cains role as Benedict Arnold what a wonderful feeling we have with these people crawling around. The closer the DOJ gets to maybe getting to the truth the more these crime members are going to squeal remember they are looking in the mirror and report what they see. Some of the Crime Organizations have been caught and convicted let's pray they get Obama's organization also.

I would strongly suggest you alter the coding on the links in the newsletter to make each one open into a NEW window. The annoyance of having to use the "back" button every time I click on a link tends to make me skip any links. And if you have any revenue based on a "per click" basis, you have a financial incentive to want people to click links rather than not bother.

Mike I heard on Fox that the oil industry has thousands of jobs they can't find workers to fill.
Why don't they go into our prisons with training programs so these men and women have a job when they get released?
Seems like a simple solution. Pass the training and you get a job.

Why have the Jeffery Epstein pedophile plane trips....been dropped totally from the news???
Did the Clinton's succeed in forever shutting him up....including ALL those who went with
him...and partook in the sexual misconduct (felonous) with MANY of his cohorts????

We need some accountability ....some jail time....and LOSS OF PENSIONS....from all who are
proved to have been on one of those flights to his islands....or at one of his mansions.

AND...what happened to the sex slush fund that Congress had. How come we never got those
names out in public. SEND IN A WHISTLEBLOWER from CIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shocking outrageous Biden family increase in assets MANDATES that ALL POLITICIANS' FAMILY ASSETS, OF THE LAST 50 YEARS, BE INVESTIGATED beginning with all in office and all in government employment now. All assets over 5 million dollars per person in each family are to be confiscated to pay off the national debt. All in the legal business (nee' profession) must wear audio-movie records for all activities of work/law related activities or the activity will not be accepted or allowed completion---this is from the White House to high school graduate pharmacists.

One must wonder why Republicans or even Independents aren't standing up to demand that biden's and the letter writers' actions be investigated? Not just Ukraine to investigate biden--but our congress, to investigate both matters. I know, the left would be crying that President Trump is obstructing their investigation of him--so impeach him on that!!! Even if it were congressmen who stood up for investigations.

I heard on some program (radio, but it wasn't Hannity or Mark Levin so I don't know the veracity of the information) that the investigators are whining that the transcript is doctored, or not complete or some such nonsense. That President Trump!! He didn't provide what he promised!! Of course, I'm not sure than any on the committee or pelosi have bothered to read the transcripts yet.

Thank you sir for your commentaries as they are insightful and informative. I watched some of the national intelligence committee this morning but could not stand it all and turned it off. They upset me so badly I was shaking. What will it take for those in Washington to accept this President, give him some support and encouragement, he was duly elected and I hope he will be again. May God protect him and his family as this country is shameful and surely the laughing stock of the world.

We so need term limits! Force retirement on the old wood. Teach Civics starting in Washington DC. Make it a required course for every politician & make it very clear every adult American is getting a review course & removing liberal subjects in the school systems, paid for by our tax dollars. And make all children in the public school system take a real honest to goodness Civics class. Plus, good citizenship rules. I'd rather have my tax dollars spent that way. Than on all these useless investigations.
