Today's Must Read

By Mike Huckabee

Today’s Must-Read: On my TV show last week, I interviewed Carol Everett, who went from running abortion clinics to helping women find pro-life solutions to problem pregnancies. At the link is the story of another woman who was tricked into going to work for Planned Parenthood and did so for years until she finally saw with her own eyes what really happens inside the abortion room. It changed her and changed her life. At the link, she reveals what she learned about Planned Parenthood from the inside and how it affected her.

New California bill treats waiters serving straws more harshly than...

By Mike Huckabee

California lawmakers have an inexplicable tolerance for letting illegal immigrants with violent criminal records roam the streets, but at least they’re cracking down on the real menace to society: waiters who give you straws you didn’t ask for.

Ian Calderon, the Democratic majority leader in California’s lower house, has introduced a bill that would make it a violation of the California Retail Food Code for a restaurant server to give a diner a plastic straw that was not requested. Violating that statute can bring a fine of $25 to $1000 or even jail time.

If you look behind virtually any crackpot law in California, you’ll find environmentalists, and such is the case here. It’s based on the claim that Americans use 500 million plastic straws a day, and their manufacture and disposal are damaging Mother Earth -- enough, I suppose that waiters should be jailed to stop it (I think L.A. waiters should be jailed before they can become movie actors and start making political speeches, but that’s a separate menace to society).

In case you’re wondering where that 500 million straws a day number came from, tried to track it down. They found no reputable industry source to substantiate it, but they did pinpoint its origin: a phone survey conducted by budding environmental and anti-straw activist Milo Cress when he was nine years old. That would explain why so many things that come out of the California Legislature sound like the work of nine-year-olds; although in fairness, it should be noted that Cress is now 16 and still stands by it.

I hope you appreciate that I got all the way through this story about both drinking straws and liberal California lawmakers without using the word “suck.”

Why Trump should take the interview with Mueller

By Mike Huckabee

Numerous legal experts have strongly advised that President Trump avoid an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller at all costs. They’re correct in saying that even someone totally innocent concerning matters under investigation can be trapped or confused into stating an unwitting “lie” and then be charged with that. Investigators may very well have that goal in mind, especially since it appears they still have no evidence of actual collusion with Russia.

But if Mueller wants to interview him, as he reportedly does, the President faces a choice: either sit down for the interview with his attorney at his side, or be subpoenaed and testify under oath before a Washington DC grand jury with no lawyer at all. Hard to tell which would be more viciously anti-Trump, top FBI personnel like Peter Strzok or the typical Washington DC grand jury –- and under subpoena, he’d be dealing with both! At least with a voluntary interview, he’d have one friend (his lawyer) in the room. Isn’t that’s what you’d choose?

Stop the presses! Trump...DIDN'T fire Mueller

By Mike Huckabee

The New York Times is trumpeting a story about President Trump ALMOST firing Robert Mueller. That’s right –-- he almost fired him! He thought about it. He thought about it some more. He talked about it. He wanted to. He may have come tantalizingly close. But he didn’t do it. (And he denies even taking it that far.)

Wow, what a blockbuster. It’s the drop-of-a-hat that CNN and MSNBC need to scream even louder about Trump’s “abuses of power” when he’s been totally cooperative with the special counsel. His political enemies in the media fervently wish he would fire Mueller, but since he hasn’t, they’ve decided to play-act as if he actually did.

More texting and another reason why "the fix was in"

By Mike Huckabee

If Peter Strzok and Lisa Page of the FBI had Donald Trump under questioning, you can bet they’d be “loaded for bear.” If they could get away with it, they’d probably grill him under bright lights, using isolation (no lawyer) and maybe sleep deprivation. At least, that’s the impression I get from their texting.

And now, within a newly revealed batch of text messages between the two --- which the FBI had said was unretrievable due to a technical glitch --- is a remark that reveals discomfort with the idea of being “loaded for bear” with Hillary. This is just one more reason to conclude that “the fix was in.”

On February 26, 2016 (gosh, it’s been almost two years!), Page reminded Strzok that Hillary “might be our next President.” (Of course, if they had anything to do with it, she would be!) She went on to make the point that “the last thing you need (is) going in there loaded for bear.” She seemed concerned that Hillary might retaliate for that once in office.

Knowing Hillary as we do, we can’t blame her for worrying about that, can we?

Anyway, it’s easy to see from this exchange that it was impossible for such politicized investigators to conduct an impartial investigation, whether of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. We’ve already seen myriad examples of special treatment for Hillary and her co-conspirators such as Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin in mishandling classified material and obstruction of justice. We love the many patriots working in intelligence to protect our country, but as Bernard McGuirk has said on FOX News, these two “are essentially the Joe and Mika of the FBI.”

President Trump should discuss this with Mr Mueller - as long as they do it the same way the FBI did with Clinton.
A team of lawyers with the President, NOT under oath, and NO RECORD or NOTES of any kind to be taken.
    Seems only right, considering.
