Mike Huckabee

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:15 NIV

Keep these folks in your prayers

A major storm system is moving across the Southeast, bringing high winds, hail and so far, at least 25 tornadoes from East Texas to Georgia and as far north as Indiana. Fortunately, no injuries have yet been reported, but a tornado watch continues today across Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. Please keep residents of these areas in your prayers, and if you are anywhere near the storm’s path, keep a close eye on the weather news and be ready to take emergency actions immediately.

Apple: Rotten to the Core

I’ve been a fan of Apple’s products from way back, and when conservatives urged boycotts of the company over its liberal political views, I abstained. I liked their products and I think most boycotts only end up hurting the workers who have no control over their bosses’ politics. But since the death of Steve Jobs, Apple’s products have become less and less impressive and the company’s politics more and more offensive. This week’s news may have shown that, sadly, the Apple has become rotten to the core, so if you’d like to consider that in making your purchases, I won’t try to dissuade you.

People who depend on “mainstream” US news sources for their information might not know this, because it’s not being covered very much, but thousands of Chinese citizens have taken to the streets to protest COVID lockdowns, and it's grown into demands that President Xi and the Chinese Communist Party step down. Naturally, the “people’s” party isn’t going to let the people tell them what to do, so they first cracked down with police. Now, in a chilling echo of the Tiananmen Square massacre (which Beijing has censored from history), they’re sending tanks to crush the protests, perhaps literally.

And what does this have to do with Apple? Aside from their long history of cozying up to the brutal Chinese communist regime for money, Apple reportedly bent the knee to the CCP even further by disabling the iPhone feature AirDrop that lets users communicate with each other without going through the Internet or cellular networks. The protesters were using it to organize, and now they can’t do that without being surveilled and tracked by the CCP.

If you’re shocked that Apple would so willingly play Igor to Beijing’s Frankenstein, it’s hardly anything new, it’s just a new low. Tucker Carlson had a must-see examination of Apple’s China connections last night, and it includes video of Apple CEO Tim Cook, who couldn’t fill Steve Jobs’ shoes if he were wearing 20 pairs of socks, praising China to the skies for “pulling people out of poverty” (I assume he’s not referring to the slave labor in the sweat shops and concentration camps) and holding China up as an example “that we should all applaud.”

Cook even praises China for its “environmental leadership.” Just FYI, aside from being the world’s biggest polluter, China is actually finding a way to destroy the environment by making electric cars.

But if all this collusion with the worst kind of brutal, oppressive dictatorship weren’t damning enough, Apple had to pour a thick coating of hypocrisy on top by choosing this week to pull its advertising from Twitter and threaten to remove the Twitter App from the Apple Store because Elon Musk is restoring accounts that had been banned due to leftist political bias and allowing users to exercise free speech. Here’s that story, along with what Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had to say about it, and his suggestion of what should happen if Apple actually does that.

So to sum up, this once-great American company that started in a garage and through innovation and free market capitalism became incredibly successful and changed the world, giving everyone an entirely new way to communicate, now sides with a brutal communist regime as it crushes its people’s demands for freedom while it threatens to destroy Twitter for allowing Americans to exercise free speech.

If Elon Musk is serious about bringing out his own line of cell phones to compete with the iPhone, I’m ready to take a look at one.

Related: President Biden continues to speak out against China’s oppression of its citizens with all the forcefulness of Woody Allen asking some noisy Hell’s Angels to keep it down. Sen. Tom Cotton was among many Republicans urging him to grow a spine and let Beijing know there will be a high price to pay for using violence against its own citizens.

Another reason why…

If you wonder why it’s so hard to get many federal officials to stand up to China, no matter how egregious its actions, this might give you a clue. The Daily Caller reports that during a 2019 sponsored trip to China, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace “think tank” introduced Congressional staffers to at least 10 alleged “experts” and scholars who were actually working for Chinese intelligence front groups.

And not to bury the lede, but the head of that “think tank” at the time was William Burns, who is currently the director of the CIA.

The Daily Caller notes that Chinese spies have been impersonating scholars to influence US policy since the 1980s. But I assume they’ve never been so successful at it as they are now. They certainly have friends in high places now.

For more on how China is undermining our economy and stealing our innovations with the willing complicity of bought-off Americans, check out this interview from last weekend’s “Huckabee” with Jenny Beth Martin, creator of the new documentary, “Innovation Race.”

Senate passes “Respect for Marriage Act”

As expected, on Tuesday, the same 12 Senate Republicans who recently voted to advance the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act” (actually, the codifying of same-sex marriage into law) to a vote voted to pass it after rejecting amendments to protect against it creating mass infringement on group and individual religious freedom rights.

You can see those Republicans’ names here, but I’ll bet you could guess them without looking.

It will now go to the House, where the Democrats will rush it through in a lame duck session. It will be signed into law by Biden, then be followed by countless nuisance lawsuits against people and organizations of faith, until, one hopes and prays, the Supreme Court finally throws it out as blatantly unconstitutional. At least they should do that, but who knows? If they’d made it clear in the original Obergefell ruling that the First Amendment right to freedom of religion was supreme, none of this would have happened.

How many Christians have to be persecuted and bankrupted with endless lawsuits and partisan prosecutions before this SCOTUS finally does its job and stands up for the First Amendment? I fear we’re about to find out.

The latest Project Veritas expose may be the most shocking and infuriating yet. A whistleblower with the Department of Health and Human Services describes how taxpayer dollars allocated to the “Unaccompanied Children Program” that processes migrant children are actually being used to deliver these children to human traffickers.

This woman says most sponsors of these children are not US citizens or even permanent residents, and they can use the threat of deportation to force children to do anything from forced labor to the sex trade. When she told her superior her concerns that one child might be getting sent to human traffickers, she says she was told, “Tara, I think you need to understand that we only get sued if we keep kids in care too long. We don’t get sued by traffickers.”

And why would they? If this is true, the traffickers would be suing their own suppliers.

As Lincoln Brown writes at the link, our “leaders” keep telling us that the biggest threats to America are January 6th, or MAGA Republicans or Christian nationalists, while they not only do nothing about the trafficking of children, they’re accused of being complicit in it. This is what needs to be investigated, with those investigations followed by firings and prosecutions, and not whether someone said something Joe Biden disagreed with on Twitter.

If Elon Musk continues to have issue with Apple, suggest to him that he buy Apple or just become a major shareholder. It would not surprise me if he already has a share or two of Apple Stock.

RE: "Apple: Rotten to the Core". Thank you Mike. I was going nuts today trying to air drop from my own iPhone to my own iPad. And to think I paid big bucks for this feature! You are right! My next cell phone and tablet will not be Apple!
