Evening Edition - August 31

Sen. Rand Paul is calling for an FBI investigation and arrests into the radical leftists that threatened all of us leaving the White House last Thursday, and that he believes would have killed him and his wife if the police hadn’t come to their rescue.

Fatuous media figures tried to dismiss Paul’s concerns as overblown (easy for them; they weren’t there – apparently, they think if they cover for the wolves, they’ll be eaten last.) But as if to tragically prove that Paul was absolutely correct, Saturday in Portland, a man at a pro-Trump rally was shot in the chest and killed. The BLM radicals were caught on video cheering a woman who yelled, “I am not sad that a (bleeping) fascist died tonight!” She and all those who cheered murder should be sad, however, that they have lost their souls and allowed their sense of humanity to be dissolved by vicious political hatred that dehumanizes their opponents.

The horrific killing made the media look even worse than usual, if that’s possible. Those who have been denying that the violence existed looked like the fools they are. Those who tried to blame it on Trump looked both foolish and desperate. But perhaps the worst of all were those who subtly tried to imply that the victim had it coming by describing him as a member of a fringe “right-wing” group. Last week in Kenosha, two violent members of the left-wing fringe group BLM were shot dead while allegedly trying to assault Kyle Rittenhouse. Did they have it coming? If so, then why is Rittenhouse facing murder charges? He can at least argue that he acted in self-defense. He didn’t just target someone for cold-blooded murder, like the leftist thug in Portland.

President Trump has been holding off on sending federal troops to these cities because he doesn’t want to take the drastic step of invoking the Insurrection Act. But the useless mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler, now has even more blood on his hands for allowing this madness to go on until innocent people are being murdered in his city’s streets just for expressing their political views. I hope the feds prosecute that as a federal hate crime to insure that the perpetrator faces the full force of the law, since I have zero faith that this will happen in Portland. Meanwhile, if an organized radical group operating across state lines to overthrow the government by murdering American citizens is not insurrection, then what is?

And yes, these are not “local grassroots protesters.”

They’re an organized and well-funded anti-American criminal/terrorist group. An FBI investigation might uncover who’s doing the organizing and the funding, and then the RICO Act could come into play.

President Trump is planning to visit Kenosha, Wisconsin, tomorrow, and the state’s Democrat Gov. Tony Evers is requesting that he not. In a letter, Evers wrote, "I am concerned your presence will only hinder our healing.” Yes, we’ve all seen the “healing” on our TV screens.

Evers is the latest in a growing line of Dem politicians, including the mayors of Seattle, Portland and Chicago, who would like to blame the out-of-control violence in their cities on Trump. They refuse his help, insisting he only makes things worse, then they proceed to make things 100 times worse all by themselves.

These arrogant know-nothings remind me of a story by the great humorist James Thurber. He once wrote of his aunt, a very headstrong woman who ran a large farm, who decided that she didn’t need any help fixing the broken milking machine; she could do it herself. An hour or so later, she had it dismantled and had no idea how to reassemble it, but she just kept making it worse and cursing and sweating until she finally screamed at her farmhands, “Why won’t somebody take this #!%& thing away from me?!!”

That’s the question these Democrat mayors and Governors should be asking. The voters should answer it for them by taking away their power over things they have no idea how to control.

Over the weekend, the CDC quietly (but I’ll bet not as quietly as they’d hoped) “updated” the death figures on the COVID-19 (Chinese) coronavirus. The media have been reporting with panic and alarm every new level, until now we’ve surpassed 180,000 deaths in the US (all of them somehow President Trump’s fault, of course, even the huge percentage who died after blue state Governors forced their nursing homes to take in coronavirus patients.)

But hold on, there’s a slight correction to that figure. It turns out there were far more comorbidities than we were led to believe. Out of 161,392 deaths in the CDC database at the time of the study, 94% died of more than one cause. In fact, these victims had an average of 2.6 other causes of death or conditions in addition to the virus, such as flu or pneumonia, respiratory disease, heart disease, diabetes or obesity.

Now, here’s the really shocking part: when you factor out all the deaths from multiple causes to discover just how lethal COVID-19 is by itself to otherwise healthy people, you find that only about 6% of the casualties were due to the virus alone. That’s about 9700 deaths. Last year’s seasonal flu killed over 3-1/2 times more people. You might recall that we didn’t shut down the economy and nail all the churches shut over that.

It’s looking increasingly as if the massive economic shutdown might have been a catastrophic mistake and that a more effective policy would have been encouraging basic safety measures for the majority while only shielding those who were at the greatest risk.

And as long as we’re on the subject of how everything we know about the Chinese virus is wrong (except that it really did come from China), the New York Times reports that potentially 90% of people who tested positive for it had such small amounts of the virus in their systems that they weren’t contagious and didn’t need to quarantine or do contact tracing. But they created a bottleneck that possibly kept serious cases from being identified.

So if all that overtesting is creating deadly delays, what is the New York Times’ solution? As Bronson Stocking at Townhall.com reports, it’s “more testing!”

Once again, there's another tragic story of a heroic police officer in St. Louis being shot in the head and murdered. This doesn’t appear to be politically-motivated, but I would be very surprised if the overall atmosphere of disrespect and hatred for police, the dehumanizing rhetoric aimed at them and the tolerance of violence against them didn’t play some part in it.

I saw a poll quoted over the weekend, claiming that suburban women heavily prefer Biden over Trump. I wonder if that’s accurate, or how recent it may be? I've always heard that the so-called “soccer mom” vote was primarily based on which candidate made them feel safest. I cannot imagine anyone thinking that’s the Democrats and Joe “I suddenly decided that rioting and assault are not altogether good things” Biden.

Kurt Schlichter has one of his typically blunt articles on a subject I’ve been addressing here for a long time, and that is how, in the identity grievance group pyramid that is the modern Democratic Party, women are now on the very bottom. Kurt says there’s a reason you’re not hearing any Democrats say, “Women’s lives matter.” He points out that the Party has a history of misogyny that’s just as strong as its history of racism, and in all the attacks on Kenosha police for the shooting of Jacob Blake, media and activists never mention that Blake was resisting arrest for violating a restraining order by an ex-girlfriend who’d accused him of sexual assault.

As Kurt points out, the left’s policy trifecta of defunding the police, prosecuting cops and banning private gun ownership are setting us up for a future where women who are threatened by sexual predators will have nobody to help them but their unarmed selves. If that makes you feel safer in the suburbs, then by all means, vote for Biden.

“If It Weren’t For Double Standards” Dept: The media accused President Trump of racism for making a criticism of Kamala Harris that was identical to the criticism she’d made of him two days before.

It was scary this mob of antifa surrounding Rand Paul and others leaving it makes me wonder why they didnt stand up for the last 4 years for Trump supporters that started in 2016 being targeted constantly outside his rallies having been harrassed and throwing stuff on them. Now that they are being targeted they speak out. All censorship and attacks need to stop. I never answer polls and know many conservatives that wont either.Never pay attention to them they are wrong.

I think the Democrats are trying to blame others for the effects of their Democratic leaders. They think blaming Republicans will fix the problems. I think it is sin across our world that will cause the end of the America as we have loved. I do not believe America will be here 10 years from now.

Governor, you have forgotten three rules: Rule number one, all things bad that happen in the US or abroad are Trumps’s fault; Rule number two, any criticism of a person of color is racist, no matter what they have said or done; and rule number three, anything said against a female candidate is anti woman.

To support rule number one: A liberal friend told me today she would not take the COVID Vaccine if Trump announced it before the election. She is a nice person, but implied that he would put the lives of people at risk for his benefit. That’s a pretty hefty charge to bring against anyone.

You think the riots are bad now? If the President prevails in November, I believe the following will happen: Challenges to the results will go on for months, if not years; if The House remains Dem, investigations and new impeachment charges will begin again at the cost of millions of dollars; and , if you think the riots are bad now, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Your Chinese Virus Update saying that the CDC revised their numbers downwards by 94% was extremely encouraging. I'd say it was the blockbuster news of the year. But is it true? I checked the CDC website and they are still showing the same numbers as before. The nightly news in Phoenix just reported the same number of deaths by virus as before. I would think that if the national numbers were reduced by 94% then the state numbers would have to take a similar dive.
When I do an internet search on CDC adjusting numbers, the results all say that the story is not true. I really, really, really want to believe what you are saying is true but there doesn't seem to be any agreement with other sources (not that I have any trust in the others). I'm assuming that the media are ignoring the comorbidity issue and just hanging onto the total death numbers because they are a better fit for the doom and gloom narrative.

I do hope Rand Paul can make this happen. Why in the world wouldn't there be an investigation?
The rioting that has been allowed at all,and especially for so long just blows a working mind.

Governor, we don't need another drawn out do nothing investigation like Senator Paul is calling for. Everyone in America, including AG Barr already know Soros is paying for all this. AG Barr should freeze all his U.S. assets now and declare his own investigation. But first, freeze the assets. Soros is a terrorist. Duh!

FBI investigation into the funding and organization into Antifa and all those rioting, looting, burning, and destroying our cities is so long overdue but will the FBI we have now really investigate? This needs to happen nationally and ASAP.

The Covid deaths are not as high as the Dems and the media would like up to believe. They are counting people who die of a heart attack & were Covid positive as a Covid death. They are counting people who die of kidney failure in AZ as Covid death and that was without any positive test. The hospitals get more money if the death count is from Covid. Don't believe the statistics.

Not only does the FBI need to investigate the ANTIFA/BLM groups, they also need to infiltrate these terrorists and find our as much as they can about their operations.

Reverend Mike, We both know if it wasn't for Double Standards there'd be no standards at all - for them. I was wondering - in case we by some miracle regain the house and keep the Senate (one I'm pretty sure of) if it would be time for M McConnell to pull the hat trick' and do away with the 60 vote rule - on a 'trial' basis only. Just to see how it would work! Maybe for the first year? Then, pass all of the funding bills for the states with a 'simple phrase' stating all Federal and State laws apply to these appropriations?' No more safe zones for illegals who are also criminal. Maybe leave a little protection in the bills for illegals to turn someone over to authorities?
