Liberal rock stars whine about Trump and how the government isn't spending enough of other people's money on their pet projects.  Here's what a Republican rockstar does:

“Huckabee” writer Laura Ainsworth’s post about her submarine veteran friend Bill Sanner's vision of all the elderly and injured veterans when they were healthy young people willing to sacrifice their futures for their country reminded me of an important new film I hope you’ll see.

“Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson has put modern-day digital movie effects to their noblest use ever in the new documentary, “They Shall Not Grow Old.”  Asked by the BBC if he could help improve the look of old World War I footage for the centennial of the 1918 Armistice, he did far more than that.  His special effects team has taken those scratchy, jerky, black-and-white images that seemed to be from another world and converted them as if by magic into sharp, clear, stable, full-color film. In doing so, they have rescued the soldiers from being distant silent movie images and restored them to the flesh-and-blood humans they really were.

It’s as if we are right there on the battlefields of France, a hundred years ago.  Those long-ago soldiers are once again young men, fighting for their lives right before our eyes.  We also hear their stories told in their own words, from news archive interviews recorded when their memories were fresh and their voices still young and strong.  It is as close as you’ll ever come to being able to climb into a time machine and personally witness the First World War and the faces of the men – some mere boys – who fought it.

Fathom Events is sponsoring only one more showing in theaters on December 27th, and they’re selling out fast.  I don’t know why it’s not in every theater in America.  It should be. But if you can't get to it in theaters, look for it on streaming or Blu-Ray.  If it’s not the winner of this year’s Best Documentary Oscar, then that category will have once again earned the scorn it’s often received.

Here’s an article about the film that includes the astonishing trailer and making-of footage:

And here’s the Fathom Events site to search for a showing near you on December 27th:  In a season of holiday blockbusters, this is the one genuine “must-see” movie:

I’ve made it clear that I strongly disagree with President Trump’s decision to pull our troops out of Syria, but at least there’s nothing inconsistent in that view.  It’s been astonishing, though, to watch the parade of anti-war leftists who have spent years attacking American Presidents (but usually only Republicans) for what they claim are illegal, endless wars abroad, now suddenly going sheep-dip insane over Trump’s decision to do exactly what they’ve long demanded.

At least some liberals are still clear-eyed enough to be aghast at how Donald Trump is able to make their fellow liberals reflexively abandon their own long-held positions simply by doing exactly what they want.  At the link, Glenn Greenwald of The Guardian calls out one MSNBC star for her whiplash-inducing 180 on the subject.

It makes one wonder if these born-again hawks really have changed their minds about the wisdom of pulling out of Syria, or if they’d mindlessly take any position as long as it was the opposite of Trump’s.  Maybe he should try announcing that he’s decided a border wall is a terrible idea and he now opposes it.  Congressional Democrats might immediately vote to fund it – like so many of them did before Trump became President and supported it.

Speaking of liberals contradicting everything they’ve ever stood for as long as they oppose Trump, Hillary Clinton is now lecturing him that “actions have consequences.” Whoa! There are so many examples I could cite, but she specifically refers to the possibility of people dying in the Middle East because of his wrongheaded policy. Like her policy of decapitating the government of Libya, after which she snarked about Gaddafi dying while the nation descended into bloody, terrorist-fueled chaos?  Those kind of consequences that she blithely wriggled away from and ran for President?

It was revealed that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent surgery Friday to remove two cancerous growths from her lung.  The surgery was reportedly a success, and she is said to be resting comfortably.  I wish her a speedy and painless recovery and hope you will remember her in your prayers.

Information is power, and unscrupulous IT aides working in government are in a position to get it and use it for God-knows-what.  (Can you say “Debbie Wasserman Schultz”?)   The latest example of this is a former Senate employee, hired by Democratic New Hampshire Sen. Maggie Hassan in spite of being a convicted felon, who allegedly “doxxed” Republican senators –- meaning that he released their home addresses –- during the intensely partisan confirmation process of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.  He’s been in court this week, and things very suddenly got strange in court on Wednesday.  A lid was clamped down, but here’s what we know...

As reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation, the judge in the case of former Senate information technology aide Jackson Cosko had to clear his courtroom when it was brought up that the defendant had “downloaded more information than was initially understood.”  This was apparently a boatload of data, “terabytes of information.”  Whatever its content, it was deemed so sensitive that it could not be discussed at all in open court.  Not only were reporters and onlookers kicked out, but even the defendant’s own mother had to wait in the hall.

A bit of background that will come as no surprise:  Months before the Kavanaugh hearings and related doxxing, Sen. Hassan had accepted Cosko’s resignation for “unspecified prior misconduct.”  (This has remained unspecified.)  We don’t know if she also revoked his “super-use” IT credentials, as OF COURSE she should have.  But then he would’ve just had to fill out the paperwork again, because he was quickly rehired, this time by Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, also a Democrat, even though he’d broken the law and had been recently let go for misconduct.  (Perhaps “misconduct” was going to be part of his new job description; who knows?  I can see the job posting now:  “IT Professional needed for Democratic congresswoman; experience in misconduct a plus.”)

She bizarrely called him an “intern” after his arrest, even though he’s 27 and had already had a similar paying job in the Senate.  A spokesperson for Jackson Lee refused to say whether her office had done a background check or even called Sen. Hassan’s office before hiring Cosko.

During the Kavanaugh hearings, Cosko returned to Sen. Hassan’s office to allegedly gain illegal access to one of the computers there, but fled when he was caught in the act by a staffer.  He later wrote this staffer a threatening email:  “I own EVERYTHING.  If you tell anyone I will leak it all.  Emails signals conversations gmails.  Senators’ children health information and socials.”  Perhaps he meant Social Security numbers.

When prosecutors searched his home, they found “virtually a hacker’s obstruction checklist” and materials that could be used to impersonate lawmakers, including stationery from Sen. Hassan’s office.

Anyway, when court was reconvened on Wednesday, Judge Thomas Hogan of the DC District Court expressed alarm at the damage Cosko could cause.  “His accomplishments in the computer world...allowed him to do the things he was doing,” he said.  There’s a great sense of risk to the public” if Cosko can access computers.  “If he has access to info that only he has the key to, he could cause difficulty.”

Given the context here, I’d say the phrase “cause difficulty” might be quite an understatement.  The judge is not releasing Cosko, obviously thinking it best that he remain separated from any computers by thick iron bars.

More details on this story, plus some exasperating history of Democrats and their unscrupulous IT “professionals,” are at the link.

Someone with a big stick needs to put a stop the Democrats , on the new house agenda. To investigate Trump and his family and his business and waste more tax payers money is not going to put any money in my bank account, or do any good for any one or the country. These people need to be kicked out on the grounds of unproductive time and Malingering . You can plainly see the smirk on Chuck Schumer’s face when the border wall is brought up. Schumer and Pelosi have no interest in our country, it’s all about working against Trump.

I think it was around 1995/96 that "Money" mag ran an article on what Congress gets paid per hour on average with salary and benefits. The average hourly wage was a little over $390.00 per hour. I have no idea what that is equal to in 2018/2019?

Merry Christmas to you & your family.
I'm saddened that Gen. Mattis is being forced out before February, I'm saddened that he's going. I hope the President knows what he's doing.
The wall needs to be built for the safety & security of this country. For the life of me I don't understand the courts defending them & the courts preventing money to be withheld for sanctuary cities. The D's are only interested in obstructing.
I'm disgusted that Hillary, Comey, McCabe, Paige & Strozk aren't being prosecuted. Another one who needs to be prosecuted for income tax evasion is Al Sharpton. The Founders have to be up in arms.

I remember taking an OATH in 1957 to Protect and Defend the Constitution that STILL has NO Expiration date. After watching the Clown Show being put on by the D's because their CHOSEN ONE was NOT Coronated Queen Hillary, successor to Obama to finish installing Socialism. I have a Question. Is the Oath elected officials take just a Ritual Ceremony for the Camera's or do they take OATH'S seriously? No that's Not a Trick Question! My take is Pure Hate is showing it's ugly head. If my Children or Grand Children acted like the Dims' I would Ground them for at least a year. As an aside I just ordered Sanner and Ainsworth's book. I too was a Submariner but before the authors time. My youngest Grand tells me "Pa Paw you oughta write a book" Not sure my tales have been declassified and I know I would not be treated like Hillary.

    Hello Mr. Huckabee,
Next time we have a gov shutdown, Congressional salaries should be furloughed as well.

It’s completely unacceptable that members of Congress can force a government shutdown on partisan lines & then have Congressional salaries exempt from that decision.

Plus for the wall President has billions of $ on El Chapo account. This way Mexico will pay for wall !
Also, we can have tons of tax payers money for the wall if we stop at all or restrict welfare, all free stuff for illegals.
We strongly believe it that our President will use that money !!! Our security need it NOW !

    Merry Christmas Mr. Huckabee !

In reference to the the Democrats/Liberals/ Progressives/ Socialists/Communist Left, Lindsay Graham said it plainly. People belonging to what used to be an American party (many of whom are now out and out Communists) do not just hate Trump. They hate all of us who don't fall in line with their agenda. They hate you more than they hate Iran, North Korea, Putin et al. Remember we are all deplorable and irredeemable. If Trumps goal is to drain the swamp, he will need 5 or more terms. As long as we have swamp creatures like Pelosi and Schumer, the swamp is alive and well. I wish their parents had practiced birth control.

Many of you will have seen my postings about the Tomahawk Warrior, the B-17 bomber that crashed in England killing all nine members of the crew on the 12th August 1944.
You will recall I was a nine-year-old who watched the civil auxiliary units retrieving the bloody remains of these poor souls at the crash site. You may also recall that I discovered the official story of this plane 72 years after the event EXACTLY on the 12th August 2016. Lt Charles Searl was the pilot of the plane. (Another irony is that one of his good friends from his hometown of Tomahawk WI, Joe Chvala, was asked by Joseph Kennedy older brother of John F. Kennedy to join him on a special mission, which Chvala declined. Joe Kennedy was killed on that mission when his plane exploded over the English Channel on, AGAIN 12th August 1944!)
I also mentioned recently that LT Searl’s granddaughter had tracked me down through the internet and since then her mother, Lt Searl’s only living daughter Mrs Cheryl Surfus had contacted me. She has now given me a complete package of historical information, including newspaper cuttings, citation records and includes the last letter Lt Searl wrote to his wife before he gave his life for all of us. I have now posted this letter on my web site with permission granted by Mrs Surfus. (Remember, when you read the letter, he refers to his daughter Charlene. He did not yet know his daughter Cheryl. Charlene has since passed away.)
As the only living witness in the world todsay who was actually at the crashnsite, I have given reasons on my website why I believe Lt Searl is a hero as he guided that bomb laden crippled aircraft away from our homes and on to farm fields a short distance away. My evidence has never been made part of the official record, but it would have a direct influence on any deliberations on the pilot;s efforts to divert his craft away from population area. I have now submitted an official request to Senator John Cornyn’s Texas office on behalf of Lt Charles Searl’s daughter Cheryl and his two granddaughters, that Searl receive a special citation and posthumous medal for bravery for saving so many lives that day.

Now, I am not sure why or how I have become a sort of messenger since those dark wartime days but it seems I have been destined in some way to bring light on these events and to show that love remains such a strong force within the human experience. As I transcribed Searl’s letter, it simply struck me how, on the 26th of December, it will have been my 63rd anniversary with dear wife Sophie who went to heaven in February, and the deepest love I had for her is reflected in Lt Searl’s letter. It struck me also how I, having survived the London blitz, and Sophie surviving the German occupation of France, has enabled me to carry forward the message of heroism and sacrifice by American & Allied forces that has given us all that we have today. I hope you will refer this web page to as many friends and acquaintances as you can during this festive season and hopefully, the last letter of Charles Searl will carry some significance for them. I am glad to see your objection to the Syria withdrawal. Do we not owe protection to those who risk everything in their world to help, like the Kurds. I do not understand the President going against the the advice of a very respected General to the point he felt he had to resign. The hold out for the wall I understand, this I do not. When we ask for help in the future, we will not be trusted. So far as Afghanistan is concerned, for heaven sake Mr. President, don’t leave the women to their fate with sure rise of radical Islam if we leave,

It certainly is no surprise that liberals have changed their minds in a nano-second about our troops being in Syria or any other country. Like crying (shouting) that comey MUST be fired up to the day he was fired, and two minutes after hearing he was fired, he became a liberal hero or something. And the list goes on.

It's good to see that all hoolywood isn't all talk and no action. Kudos to Alice Cooper and wife for 20 of helping children have a nice Christmas.

Wishing Justice Ginsburg a speedy and full recovery.

I guess it's easy for hilary to caution President Trump or anyone else about actions having consequences--seemingly for anyone but herself. I do wish the consequences of her actions would catch up with sooner than later. Along with a slew of others who have yet to face any consequences.

I responded to your poll earlier today on Trump's decision to pull our troops out of Syria. My response was 'Undecided'. As I thought about it I noted that many people I respect (especially General Mattis) seemed to think pulling out would be a big mistake. Some others (whose comments I don't respect) were claiming he doesn't know what he's doing, same mistake as Obama, leaves no one between Trump and the nuclear button, Kurds will be slaughtered, etc. The reasons I responded to your poll as 'Undecided' are: 1) I don't have the information Trump has, 2) I didn't think Trump woke up yesterday morning and decided to yank the troops out willy-nilly, 3) I heard your daughter say we're now moving to the "next phase" in today's press conference, 4) Trump is usually proven right on his decisions (in hindsight). But I am also worried that the Kurds could be decimated.

However, I've just read an article written by Sundance at The Conservative Tree House: The article states that the Saudis and UAE are sending troops to protect the Kurds (with some of those U.S. made weapons they're buying) as our troops are drawn down. After reading this article and the many comments that followed, I can now answer your poll with a 'YES' - I do support Trump's decision. The Saudis and Gulf Council writ large are better suited to engage Turkey because they are not members of NATO. We can still provide support if needed (and requested) and Russia may be caught up in an expensive war it can't afford because of plummeting oil prices.

I am sorry to hear about Mrs. Ginsberg and she will be in my prayers. She is, after all, a child of God as all of us are, but some seem to forget that!
Why is it that every time a President makes a statement the media jump all over it before letting the dust settle and wait for the final decision. Everything does not have to be instantaneous!
As far as a 'wall', another instance where waiting to see what can and will be done is the best policy. The Dems aren't going to 'cave in' as they have already said they would fight him on everything he recommends. Nice people who really care about the rest of ur Americans! I am so sick of that party and the people in it - they believe they are above all laws, but no one else is - They will 'get theirs'! Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves!
Keep President Trump and all who work with and for him in our prayers, to be able to withstand all the garbage thrown at them every day (including your daughter - who is a saint). May God protect them all and give them courage to withstand and win this war against them and all of us who are on his side and support him - if not with money with whatever we can do to support him.

Why have you given no mention of the Go Fund Me page to Build the Wall? This young man, disabled Veteran, set up this page so that Americans could donate toward getting the wall built! The last time I checked the page had raised over thirteen million dollars in about four days! Many of the donations are $5, $20 -- what real Americans can afford in many cases. But it sends a message about how many support building the wall and that we are willing to donate toward it.
