It’s incredibly difficult for a new social media platform to challenge the established giants that have hundreds of millions of users and billions of dollars to buy out, sue or squash would-be competitors. That’s probably why the limousine leftists who run those sites think they can get away with playing God over who is allowed to have free speech (hint: not conservatives.)
There have been attempts to challenge them, but none have taken off. However, here’s an intriguing idea:
An upstart conservative competitor to Twitter called Parler has attracted a few high profile users such as Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Twitter-banned commentators Laura Loomer and Milo Yiannopoulos. But its 100,000-subscriber base is still tiny compared to Twitter. However, what might happen if the most talked-about Twitter user in the known universe joined Parler? I refer, of course, to President Donald Trump.
Trump’s spokesman said he’s aware of Parler and checking it out, but he doesn’t currently have plans to move there. Might I suggest, though, that he doesn’t have to limit himself to any one platform. He could easily tweet on Twitter and send out the same pontifications on Parler. That could help build Parler’s base and get Americans used to looking for him there (although it might turn his aides’ hair grey twice as fast.)
We’re always hearing rumors of Twitter thinking of banning or censoring the President. If he had Parler as an established backup that everyone who follows him knows to switch to, then Twitter’s threat to cut him off would really be a threat to cut their own throats. It’s a win-win: Trump could help build up a conservative alternative social media platform while putting Twitter on notice that if it continues censoring conservatives, he could keep right on sharing while Twitter could lose all his followers overnight.
I think it would be great for Trump to send the partisan leftist social media censors the same message that needs to be sent to all the Democratic impeachment hysterics in Congress:
“If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”
