Late Thursday, Washington was rocked and the Democrats’ media sycophants were rolled by the news that U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into potential FBI and DOJ misconduct from before the 2016 election through early 2017 has officially shifted from an “administrative review” to a full-scale criminal investigation. That means Durham can subpoena witnesses, file charges, and impanel grand juries.

Fox News reported that “Durham's probe had expanded significantly based on new evidence uncovered during a recent trip to Rome with Attorney General Bill Barr.” One Fox source claimed that DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz's upcoming report on alleged FBI surveillance abuses against the Trump campaign would be coming out very soon with few redactions, and it would shed light on why Durham’s probe is now a criminal investigation.

FEATURED STORY

A fire hydrant of falsehoods

By Mike Huckabee

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made news this week by slamming Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg for not censoring political “lies” online.  Ironically, her example of something she thinks should be censored was the Daily Caller, a mainstream conservative news site that she smeared as a “white supremacist-linked” site. One could argue that that was itself a “political lie.”

Just as the left constantly claims that anything they disagree with is a “lie” (and anyone they disagree with is a “white supremacist”), they never seem to notice the fire hydrant of falsehoods coming from their own side.  AOC would only have to look at her fellow “squad” member, Ilhan Omar, for a number of examples.

In the most recent, Omar tweeted a story about a child in Houston with this comment: “A nine-month-old died as a direct result of Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and CHIP.  He is one of a million children to lose healthcare. Let that sink in.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/ilhan-omar-fire-blaming-trump-death-baby-didnt-die/

Tragic, “if true,” to use a phrase heard regularly on CNN.  But is it true?  No.  In fact, let us count the ways in which it’s not true (by the way, she would have known all this if she’d read the article she retweeted):

1.  The child did not die.  He’s alive and well.

2.  The hospital did treat him, just as they treat any child in need regardless of ability to pay.

3.  He didn’t lose Medicaid because of budget cuts or Trump.  His mom just failed to file the papers in time. He and his siblings are now fully covered.

Aside from that, her story was sound.  The extent of her correction of it was this later tweet: “almost died*.”

Of course, if she really is disturbed by the idea of a small child dying, I could give her a horror story on that subject that is actually true, and has been repeatedly fact-checked to prove it: since Roe v. Wade in 1973, over 61 million babies have been slaughtered in America alone by abortionists.  Since 1980, over 1.5 billion babies have been aborted worldwide. Worldwide, those murdered babies are disproportionately female. Let that sink in.

I wonder if any of those actual facts would bother her if she could find some way to blame them on Trump.

Three cheers for Vice President Mike Pence for his speech Thursday in which he took the NBA and Nike to the woodshed for their shameful kowtowing to communist China, gladly selling their souls for Chinese cash in exchange for clamming up about the injustices and atrocities committed by the government.

Rightly pointing out the hypocrisy of recently-politicized, outspokenly anti-American sports stars towing Beijing’s line, Pence said, “Some of the NBA’s biggest players and owners, who routinely exercise their freedom to criticize this country, lose their voices when it comes to the freedom and rights of other peoples.” You can read more and see an excerpt from the speech here:

For those still confused by what happened in Syria, with President Trump’s troop withdrawal and the flurry of violence between Turkey and the Kurds followed so swiftly by a permanent ceasefire agreement, this article at the Federalist does an excellent job of explaining the situation and the various factions clearly.

https://thefederalist.com/2019/10/24/10-questions-to-ask-about-trumps-removal-of-troops-from-syria/

It also asks and answers the question that the media would be asking 24/7 if they were actual journalists instead of agents of the anti-Trump Resistance:

“How could the US foreign policy establishment get it so wrong?”

Although to be fair, it’s not as if they’ve had a lot of experience in recent years at getting things right.

The White House confirmed that it will follow through on President Trump’s suggestion to cancel all subscriptions to the Washington Post and New York Times, although it’s not clear whether this will be extended to all federal agencies via executive order, or it’s just a suggestion.  Canceling all those subscriptions would save the taxpayers a lot of money, while Trump says it would reduce the circulation of “fake news.”

Personally, I don’t understand why anyone would pay to subscribe to a newspaper that runs countless stories defending Adam Schiff’s sealed, locked, closed-door impeachment hearings directly under the paper’s motto: “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”  After seeing that, I wouldn’t even believe the sports scores in that paper.

be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;

    Dear Mike:

Today, I have a question that maybe someone you know could answer. There is a legal doctrine related to the lack of apparent authority. They are going to finally vote on a resolution as I understand it on Thursday for an investigation into the merits of bringing forward an impeachment resolution before the full House. This authorizing vote will of course be approved by the Democratic House. But the approval will occur several weeks after subpoenas have been issued and legal fights and some testimony has been taken. I think there is some kind of legal doctrine that says those subpoenas are without merit and that the whole process of issuing such subpoenas would have to be done again. This would be particularly the case if the authorization allowed the minority to at least challenge the subpoenas in Committee and have a recorded vote. Even though the committee's actions are closed door, there may be standard rules in the House for the recording of Minutes and I think it would be legitimate for someone to question anything that occurred prior to the formal approval vote as being off the record and therefore it could not be considered an official document of the committee. Of course it takes an attorney and possibly a parliamentarian familiar with House rules to determine if there is any merit to my point. But I just thought you might know something about that or know someone who would know something about that idea.

I'm pleased The White House will cancel (or suggest canceling) subscriptions to the New York Times and Washington Post. While waiting for a friend at CIGNA recently, there were only sports mags and the New York Times to read. The New York Times was so obviously biased and anti-trump that I couldn't stomach reading it. At one time they had an excellent reputation but not any more. Now they are simply active participants of the Swamp.

It is such a shame that we didn't have Barr as Attorney General for the first two years instead of someone that was working against Trump the whole time. Thanks for your great newsletters that keep me informed every day.

Well now... AOC is a person who follows left thinking and Scripture clearly teaches us that those who are left thinkers, are fools. Now this AOC left thinking person is in our congress. So who voted for this evil AOC heathen who follows Satan and his left thinking rather than God?

    Thanks Huck
Tumultuous week and I am glad it is done. from parents forcing gender alterations on babies to bunked up and debunked congressional proceedings, (note: I did not say hearings or any other term that may imply "legal actions")
Your letter was a needed respite clear to the point and void of minutiae and distractors. got tired of listening to MSM and the DEMs talking about cooties at Doral and how awful Florida is in JUNE, just the peak of the tourist season.
Super secrete closed door discussions where your innocents or guilt is decided not only without representation but without the accused even being allowed in. then they run off anyone who has a different opinion from theirs. SOUNDS FAIR?

Though Numbers 32:23 ......"your sin will find you out" was written long before the corrupt deep staters were born, and doesn't specifically mention them by name, it seems very applicable today as the accusers become the accused. Let's see how they feel getting a dose of their own medicine. Maybe a better verse would be Matthew 7:2, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Instead of "lawyering up", it might seem more appropriate to get on their knees and pray for repentance.

    Dear Governor,
I am totally amazed by all the furor over the President's Ukraine phne call....
Reason one.....a "quid pro quo" is essentially a "bargain". And...especially in politics, no one obtains something for nothing....withOUT bargaining!

Reason two.....so what if a quid pro quo was used...or not? Exactly what do people think diplomats DO for a,living? They make "deals".... mostly in a "nice, mutually agreeable manner". If done nicely, the bargaining all negotiators use is referred to as "DIPLOMACY".

And....a quid pro quo is defined
1: an agreement between parties settling what each gives or receives in a transaction between them or what course of action or policy each pursues in respect to the other
2 : something acquired by or as if by negotiating over the terms of a purchase, agreement, or contract
3 : a transaction, situation, or event regarded in the light of its results

Is there something WRONG with this? NO!

So....an actual THREAT in bargaining....such as...."no violence...or we will immediately put financial sanctions on trade with you".... is a threat....but....it is STILL part of the bargaining process....and is a politically valid method of achieving a goal.

So...either way....the acceptable method of obtaining results in a political negotiation.

I really, really, really.....do not "get" all this "brouhaha" over President Trump and the phone call with Unkraine.
