One of the big news stories of the week was the State of the Union address and President Trump presented a speech that was both inspirational and aspirational. Even some of his usual critics praised him for laying on the table specific proposals that Democrats have been asking for over many years. Paid family leave, infrastructure building, finding a legal and practical solution to the illegal immigrants known as the DACA kids or “dreamers,” and jobs for African-American and Hispanic workers. The President offered detailed proposals on those things and more. 75% of the people watching the speech gave it a thumbs up, but most of the Democrats in the House chamber were sitting on their thumbs the entire night. They have been roundly criticized for not even applauding when the President was offering the very things they have said were most important.

But I rise tonight in the spirit of real bi-partisanship to say our Democrat friends have been unfairly judged.

"Huckabee" preview

By Mike Huckabee

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8 EST, 7 CST for a very special episode of “Huckabee” on TBN. I’ll be discussing the release of Rep. Devin Nunes’ FBI memo and the reaction to it with expert guests, including Fox News’ Kelly Wright and Rep. Rick Crawford of the House Intelligence Committee. I’ll also have pollster Pat Caddell to talk about President Trump’s State of the Union, his first year in office and what lies ahead in 2018. Plus we’ll have some terrific Frank Sinatra music from actor/singer Robert Davi, and more surprises in store. For info and to find out where where you can see TBN in your area, visit this link:

Shock memo

By Mike Huckabee

By now, I assume you’ve heard about the bombshell declassified memo on the FBI’s abuse of its powers and blatant violations of the Fourth Amendment in obtaining FISA Court warrants to spy on Donald Trump’s campaign associates (or if you listen to the liberal media channels such as MSNBC or CNN, you’ve heard about the complete dud of a nothingburger that proves no laws were broken so nothing to see here, let’s move on to attacking the Republicans for releasing it).

The downplaying of the memo’s shocking contents is actually the Democrats’ third deny-and-deflect ploy, following “it’s all biased, misleading and false claims” and “you can’t release it because it’s filled with secrets about intelligence gathering that will endanger national security if exposed.” They never explained how revealing false information could expose actual government secrets (and having turned a blind eye to Hillary’s unsecured email server, their sudden deep concern about exposing classified information was about as convincing as a junior high Shakespeare production).

But now that we can read it for ourselves, it turns out that it is based on evidence and sworn testimony, and the only thing it exposes is the bias and dishonesty of some of the top people at the FBI and DOJ. In fact, since many of the claims in it had leaked in advance, it wasn’t shocking so much for what it said but for the fact that it actually confirms some of our worst suspicions.

Rod Rosenstein

By Mike Huckabee

Despite his opponents’ endless claims that he’s a wannabe dictator who allowed the memo to be declassified so that he could fire his investigators, Trump says he has no plans to fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who in light of what’s revealed about him in the memo should at the very least recuse himself from anything involved in the Mueller investigation. Personally, I think he’s one of many people involved in this who should be removed from positions of power immediately (for that matter, why are Peter Strzok and Lisa Page still on the federal payroll with FBI security clearances? They shouldn’t even be allowed to have cell phones at this point).

Huck's Hero of the millenium

By Mike Huckabee

Huck’s Hero of the Millennium: Ji Seong-ho, who received a huge ovation at the State of the Union Address as he held high in defiance the wooden crutch he used to escape North Korea, has given an interview to the Daily Caller. He offers more details of the incredible story told by President Trump of the tortures he endured and how he escaped, and he has a message for North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un that is a must-read for everyone (especially Kim Jong Un).

Labor statistics released

By Mike Huckabee

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this week that non-farm payroll jobs grew by 200,000 in January. Economists had predicted 180,000, so once again, the final number was “unexpected.” But unlike during the previous Administration, it was unexpectedly high, not unexpectedly low.

Some other interesting numbers in: Hourly wages in January were up 0.3%, reflecting an annual increase of 2.9%, the biggest pay raise since 2009. The biggest job gain was in construction (36,000 new jobs), plus 15,000 jobs in manufacturing, during a month that’s usually soft for those industries. Unemployment held at 4.1%. Lowe’s announced that 260,000 hourly workers will get bonuses of up to $1,000 each thanks to the tax cut. And spurred by the economy and his State of the Union Address, President Trump’s approval rating in the Rasmussen daily tracking poll jumped to 49%, the first time he’s had an approval rating higher than his share of the vote in the 2016 election.

So if you’re wondering why liberal media outlets are talking about nothing but how terrible it would be to release that FBI memo, wonder no more.

I’m still appalled at the behavior of all the Dems last Tuesday. It was absolutely childish and even worse is their inability to recognize the shame of it all.
