Friday, President Trump held a news conference in which he officially declared the COVID-19 coronavirus to be a national emergency. That quickly freed up about $50 billion worth of federal aid. This comes just two days after the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic. Also, in a move that shows how different this President is from previous Presidents (and how vastly different he is from those who seek to replace him), he announced that he had struck deals with some of America’s largest corporations, such as WalMart, Target, Google and CVS, to use their vast resources to assist in fighting the disease and helping Americans with procedures and testing. Instead of using the emergency as an “opportunity” to grow government, he’s employing the greater efficiency of the private sector in partnership with government.

Trump also announced that he’s waiving interest on federally-held student loans until further notice.

Another way Trump is different from any Democrat seeking to replace him is that he also declared Sunday to be a National Day of Prayer.

Trump’s actions must have impressed Wall Street, since the Dow roared back by nearly 2,000 points, the biggest one-day gain since the 2008 meltdown, shortly after it took the worst drop since 1987.

Also, late last night, the House passed a bill providing emergency funding for dealing with the pandemic, after the Administration demanded a rewrite due to objections that House Democrats were larding up the bill with lefty wish list items, like taxpayer-paid abortions.

Here’s the full text of Trump’s letter:

And full video of the press conference:

You can safely skip the Q&A from reporters at the end. It was mostly a lot of lame “gotcha” attempts by reporters who don’t seem to get that Trump is dealing with a life-or-death health crisis, and very effectively. This is not the time to try to undermine his efforts with your one-track-mind Trump Derangement Syndrome. As noted previously, even such rabid anti-Trump Governors as California’s Gavin Newsom and New York’s Andrew Cuomo…

…have praised Trump and his team for quickly providing them with everything they promised. I’m glad of this, but not that surprised: Governors may be politicians, but it's much more important to be pragmatic and work with whoever you have to in order to protect your state’s citizens. If actual Democratic politicians can put aside partisanship and acknowledge that Trump is doing a good job, maybe the amateur Democratic politicians in the media could try that as well.

When I see how many ways the media try to attack Trump (when one path fails, they try another, then another), it makes me think that COVID-19 may not be the most aggressive virus plaguing America today. For instance, Trump was called a racist, xenophobic incompetent for acting too quickly to shut down all travel from China. Once it became apparent that bought us precious time, they attacked him for not doing it soon enough. Now, they’re trying to circle back to the nonsense “racist” charge, but in a way that only makes themselves look hypocritical…

As for the claim that Trump was ignoring the coronavirus or not doing enough, Deborah Birx, the internationally known HIV/AIDS expert appointed by Trump to help coordinate his coronavirus response, said there has been “intense effort” put into bringing quality testing kits to people “at unprecedented speed,” adding, “I understand that a lot of this behind-the-scenes action in the last couple of weeks was invisible to the press and the American people.”

So she’s saying that Trump and his people were actually exerting intense effort to deal with the crisis, but the public might not have known it because they were putting their efforts into dealing with the crisis rather than trying to make themselves look good to the media.

I think I’ve just found another way that this President is very different from all the people trying to replace him!

As terrible as this situation is, I think that if we did not have President Trump leading us through this it would be a lot worse, and recovery would be a lot longer.

It's been great to see major grocery stores, fast food restaurants and major gas stations like Wawa really keeping surface areas clean for patron's health!

It is great to see that President Trump is on top of the corono virus situation. It is time to take this out of the realm of politics.

Mike-There has been talk of Martial Law being imposed. President Trump needs to heed this Warning-President Obama put into place an agreement that would send NATO forces in to supersede our police and military forces. They would also have the authority to confiscate our weapons and put people in gulags.

What the radical-left Dimmies want is a nation with no boundaries. (And I don't mean just open borders.) They want people to have the "freedom" to live however they want without having to be accountable to anyone. Little do they realize is that they would be putting the people of this nation in prison. That would mean total chaos, turmoil, violence, and hysteria. Without boundaries, all people could walk around without clothing, (even so many come very close these days), drive on whichever side of the road they want and at any speed they please (some do that, too), go eat at a restaurant and walk out without paying the bill (saw that happen recently, too), and so on. There are a few boundaries the radical-left has no control over...the earth's rotation around the sun, time, and gravity. (Several years back a large group of people attempted to move the earth off it's normal rotation by jumping up and down all at once. It didn't phase the earth.) Sporting events have boundaries and rules. Without them, the games would not be worth playing or watching. The left needs their eyes opened to the fact that boundaries are healthy for daily life. May their eyes be opened soon before this nation is too far gone.

I am SO excited that President Trump declared a National Day of Prayer on Sunday, March 15, 2020! I have been praying fervently for him and his administration during this crisis. God is making his presence known! HALLELUJAH! God bless America!!!!!

Seems he spends more time getting the job done than making sure that everyone knows he’s doing something about it . This man can’t do anything without the press and the ultra liberal left trying their best to make it look like he is doing it wrong , or someone else already had the idea , he just stole it . I have heard him called mean , racist , an ugly person . So far the only people that I have seen like that , didn’t vote for him , and can’t take it because he won . What a sorry state of affairs the Democrat party has let itself get into .

Please, please, please isn’t there a way to get this truth telling info to the general public, including the feature about the way the swine flu was handled by the swine? Re: National Day of Prayer.....
Sid Roth had a wonderful message (how to knock the socks off the Coronavirus) proclaiming that this situation will bring thousands to the Lord IF we unite in prayer as a nation. Hope you’ll have time to watch it all the way through to get to the letter sent to Donald Trump!

I am so impressed with the President and the way he has brought this country together to fight this common foe. And in the face of continuing resistance and haranguing by the DemonRats led by the usual 4-some - Pelosi, Nadler, Schumer and Schiff.

I see where DeBlasios recommended solution to the virus is to Nationalize US Companies so the government would have full control for delivering strategic medications and medical equipment. How stupid could we ever get than to have such a stupid ass in control of our destiny in this country.

It really is past time for the FCC to do something about the lying, conniving, backbiting, monday morning quarterbacking, Lib propagandists who are not providing the public with facts. The airwaves are to be used for informing the public, not brainwashing them. Since the FCC does the licensing there must be some guidelines. I remember when they used to have to run things by faceless bureaucratic censors and if someone used the word damn it was censored. What the hell happened to oversight? They went from going too far to the other extreme. Some creeps like the Roberts guy you mentioned should be booted from the airwaves. He is as dangerous as Putin. jm

He's done a good job even with the extra burden of the naysayers. This last step was key, because certain people in Congress want what they want too badly to compromise and are willing to forget their duty. Imagine how much more positive America would be if this poisonous cocktail of envy and strife wasn't holding us back from working together?

I live in Southern California, and I was shocked & surprised to hear the governor speak positively about his call with President Trump. Think Aunt Nancy's head must still be spinning around!!! Funny when in need he can act like a human-being, not a "dumocrat"

I believe President Trump needs to continue the path of Recovery with the virus. He is doing a great job. People listen to the news based on the media opinion not on true facts.
I also think the the government should step in and have stores start imposing limits on how much one can buy regarding products being bought up. As in toilet paper, paper towels, a limit of 1 or 2 per household.
People are boarding these products, not allowing people who need them to buy them.
Also some people are reselling toilet paper on eBay (this should be removed from ebay

Hey Governor, you are so right, President Trump should be commended for his quick thinking and actions in this matter but the only way the left will understand this would be to have them lose a loved one or dear friend to this virus or to the next one that will come in in the near future. I pray that the next bug will stay as far away as possible. My mom told me once that when a person has everything they want they seldom care about others. President Trump, in his and his teams efforts have proven otherwise. God bless you and yours Governor, stay well. Heidi

I am so very thankful that we have Mr. Trump for our president! Every day I am more grateful that we FINALLY - after too many years - have a real leader in the WH! One who loves this country, his fellow citizens, and always puts America "first" - and he never, ever "apologizes" for America. How awesome that HE is the first POTUS in a very long time to call for a national day of prayer!
I pray for this man every day, and thank God that in 2016 He gave us Donald J. Trump as POTUS!
