Hillary Clinton’s campaign is trying to get ex-prosecutors to attack FBI Director James Comey for reopening the investigation of her. A number of them signed an open letter to that effect, including former Attorney General Eric Holder (Well, that certainly settles it for me! Nobody is a greater opponent of partisan maneuvering by law enforcement officials than Eric Holder!) Harry Reid is also threatening Comey with charges for violating the Hatch Act ban on FBI employees engaging in partisan political activities (some would argue that he did that when he closed the investigation, while opening it again would fall under the category of "doing his job.")
Funny, it seems like only a couple of weeks ago that Hillary was “horrified” that Donald Trump would undermine faith in the government by suggesting that the system was being rigged, or that everyone in Washington wasn’t completely above-board. It seems like only a couple of months ago that Democrats were praising Comey as the ultimate professional whose judgement should not be questioned. It seems like only four years ago that Harry Reid interfered in an election himself by lying about Mitt Romney not paying taxes, and when he was later called on his lie, chortled that “it worked,” didn’t it? And it seems like only 24 years ago that Bill Clinton praised special prosecutor Lawrence Walsh for launching a surprise indictment against former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger four days before the1992 election, which derailed President Bush’s poll rise and helped elect Clinton – even though the indictment was later thrown out.
It also seems that if it weren’t for double standards, the Clintons and their acolytes would have no standards at all.
