Well, this is strange.  I thought these upper Midwest states were over their unfortunate 2016 conservative leanings and we are all socialists now.  Yet somehow, last week’s election in Wisconsin cemented a solid conservative majority in the state Supreme Court through at least 2023. Why, it’s almost as if the liberal political and media elites in L.A., New York and DC were out of touch with what voters in the Midwest are thinking.

The Washington Post is petitioning a judge to dismiss the $250 million defamation lawsuit against the paper by Covington, Kentucky, Catholic student Nick Sandmann.  The paper claims rather hilariously that “politics has nothing to do with this case,” that Sandmann can’t show that the paper has any anti-Trump bias that would lead them to defame him because he was wearing a MAGA hat, and besides, its coverage was “ultimately favorable” to him.  Which I guess means that after painting him as bigot, destroying his reputation and helping incite death threats against him, they finally got around to telling the truth, so hey: no harm, no foul.  Just like any unbiased, professional newspaper would, am I right?

For proof that this is how any unbiased, professional newspaper covers Trump supporters, note that this Hollywood Reporter write-up of the story says that while it initially appeared from a video clip that Sandmann and his friends were acting in a bigoted, threatening manner, a “fuller video depicting what happened was much more ambiguous.”

"Much more ambiguous.” That’s how a professional, unbiased news outlet says “the full video we should have watched before rushing into print half-cocked proved the exact opposite of what we reported: that Sandmann and his friends were actually the victims of people acting in a bigoted, threatening manner against them, and the ‘victim’/witness we quoted was a big, fat liar.”

See: Not “defamation,” just “professional journalism.”  Happens all the time.

The Democratic Presidential candidates are having a hard time running against the Trump economy.  I was on Fox News last week, having to deal with someone who simultaneously argued that minorities are suffering from the terrible economy, but if the unemployment rate is at record lows for minorities (which it actually is), well, then Obama deserves the credit. You almost have to feel pity for anyone who’s trying to run on that argument.

Fortunately, the Miami Herald has provided one of the leading contenders, Kamala Harris, with an issue where she can honestly draw a sharp difference with Trump:

Trump has a record of finally achieving prison reform and helping people who have served unjustly long sentences to rejoin society.  Harris, during her time as San Francisco’s DA and California’s Attorney General, amassed a solid record of railroading countless people into prison and fighting to keep them there, even after preventing the defendants’ attorneys from knowing that the evidence was tainted or the witnesses were lying.

Don’t know how well being the “Lock ‘em up and let God sort ‘em out” candidate is going to play in the Democratic Primary, but at least nobody will accuse her of being too affectionate to strangers, like Joe Biden.

Just a reminder: while their spreading “caliphate” may have been crushed, ISIS is still a threat, as long as they can plant their poisonous ideas in their followers’ heads. And as this op-ed notes, there are a lot of people these days who think they should be running America but who desperately need that reminder.

Judge Them By Their Priorities: After Congressional Democrats repeatedly blocked passage of the Born Alive Act to affirm that babies born alive during abortions be given the same life-saving emergency medical care that every American has a basic right to, four Democratic Senators have introduced the “KITTEN Act of 2019,” to protect baby cats from animal testing.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to see kittens harmed, either.  But as one Republican aide noted, it’s insane to argue that ending “taxpayer-funded kitten slaughter” is just common sense, but wanting to end funding for America’s biggest abortion chain or to provide medical care to babies who have already been born is an “extremist agenda.”

I’d like to ask the constituents of these politicians to ponder the famous question posed by Phoebe from “Friends” in her song, “Smelly Cat”:  “What are they feeding you?!”

In Venezuela, a comedian who makes jokes that offend socialists becomes a target, has his career destroyed and even his life threatened.

So thank goodness that “Venezuelan socialism” and American “Democratic socialism” are, like, totally different!

Just yesterday, I wrote a piece for this newsletter on how prominent Democrats, bereft of their cherished “Russian collusion” narrative, are now resorting to telling any transparent lie about Trump or Republicans in an attempt to change the subject from their own gullibility.

I might expect them to try to dismiss my analysis as merely a partisan attack -- which it wasn’t: it was the obvious truth, as backed up by their own words and actions.  But the Democrats’ lies have become so transparent, even the Washington Post and Politifact can’t keep their blinders on anymore.

Still, someone forgot to send the memo about blatant lying not being popular to “progressive” “journalist” Matt Yglesias.  Polls show Americans have been convinced by phony, biased reporting that they didn’t get a tax cut under Trump when most actually did. Yglesias used Twitter to celebrate how effective “progressive” groups have been at misinforming the public:

“Nobody likes to give themselves credit for this kind of messaging success, but progressive groups did a really good job of convincing people that Trump raised their taxes when the facts say a clear majority got a tax cut.”

I think if you’re going to run a successful propaganda campaign while posing as journalists, one of the key rules is “Don’t publicly congratulate yourselves on your great job of lying.”  Even if you call your lies “successful messaging.”

Incidentally, Yglesias admits he’s paying less tax but is still “mad” because he owed $1200 this year instead of getting a refund.  This is the point the left is using to convince Americans that they didn’t get a tax cut and should be angry when they’re actually paying less.

Yglesias didn’t get a refund because with his new lower tax rate, he had less money withheld from his paycheck. If he wants to fix that, then he can just have more withheld again and keep giving the government a one-year, interest-free loan.  A smart person would set aside their tax savings in something that pays interest to have even more money at the end of the year, or use it to pay down high-interest debt. But don’t ask me why anyone would take tax advice from a guy who publicly cheers how well his side has been misleading you about your taxes.

One of the many hilarious justifications for giving House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a JFK “Profiles In Courage” Award was that she is championing diversity by promoting a new generation of “progressive” voices to leadership positions.  It’s not hard, though, to read between the lines of some of the Speaker’s comments and imagine how happy she would be if she could just stuff a gag in the big mouths of some of those “progressive” voices and order them back to the kid’s table.

As long as I’m offering helpful hints to leftists on how to make their slanderous lies less obvious and offensive, here are three more good rules of thumb: Don’t use an obviously edited clip to try to mislead viewers into thinking a Republican is a white nationalist/Hitler admirer.  Especially don’t try that tactic to paint African-American activist Candace Owens as a white nationalist.  And really, really don’t do it in a public hearing when she’s sitting right in front of you and will rip your lying rear end clean off if you try to slander her to her face.

Latest “Lefter Than Thou” Proposal: Bernie Sanders wants a federal ban on state right-to-work laws to force everyone to join a union.

And here’s what happens when Americans are given a free choice about that issue:

Funny how “killing your own child” seems to be the only “choice” that leftists think Americans should have the right to make.

Say, you know how every time a conservative commentator or news site (or anti-abortion movie) gets blocked from social media or search results, it’s always the fault of some totally nonpartisan “algorithm”?  You don’t think that biased people inside those organizations are manually manipulating the results to silence the free speech of people they disagree with, do you?  Even after the big tech billionaires swore under oath to Congress that that simply doesn’t happen.  Perish the thought!

Well, the Daily Caller obtained an internal Google policy document that makes it clear there is a “manual component” to their process for “blacklisting” (their term) news sites that violate their (prepare to guffaw) “good neighbor policy.”  Google is still denying that any of that means they blacklist conservative news sites, even though they blacklisted the Western Journal, which has tried in vain for months to get Google to tell them what they’ve done that violates any Google policy.

In a related story, the DuckDuckGo search engine is skyrocketing in popularity because it protects your privacy by not tracking you or keeping records of sites you visited to sell to advertisers. A spokesman explained, "Put simply, people have had enough, and are now doing something about it." It’s available as an option in the search bar of several browsers, now including even the Chrome browser by Google.  And if you can’t think of any other reason to try it (see above), then here are some more:

I’d say the photo of the “welcome mat” at the company’s headquarters would be reason enough for most of my readers to try it.

Despite dismissive mockery from the media, there is definitely a war on people of faith, and the most popular weapon wielded against Christians by the left is the bogus claim that if your faith forbids you to embrace their agenda, whether it be abortion, unisex bathrooms or same-sex marriage, it means you “hate” those who do.  This is a perversion of the most basic precepts of Christianity, which calls for believers to reject the sin but love the sinner. It’s also yet another example of how the left can’t win an argument using facts, so they have to redefine the terms to tar the other side as “haters” (supporting border security means you “hate immigrants;” not wanting to pay for abortion drugs means you “hate women,” declining to participate in same-sex weddings that violate your religious beliefs means you “hate gays,” etc.)

This is scurrilous and phony, but sadly, it’s been effective enough that one of the Democratic Presidential candidates is trying it to separate himself from the pack.  Pete Buttigieg must have realized that being Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is not the kind of resume enhancer that screams, “I’m ready for the White House!” And while being openly gay sets him apart, it isn’t enough for today’s identity group/victim mentality Donkey Party.

So Buttigieg is trying to wrap himself in the mantle of victimhood by attacking Vice President Mike Pence, a devout Christian, for allegedly hating and oppressing him somehow.  He pugnaciously declared, “If you got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me – your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.” (by the way, lecturing Pence on theology is almost as presumptuous as thinking you deserve to be promoted from Mayor of South Bend to President of the United States.)

And what did Pence ever do to incur Buttigieg’s wrath or imply he has a “problem” with him?  You might assume that like 99.999999% of Americans, he never heard the name “Buttigieg” and probably doesn’t even know how to pronounce it.  But you’d be wrong.  As the linked article reports, when he was Governor of Indiana, Pence was asked to react to Buttigieg coming out as gay.  Here is his “hateful” response:

“I hold Mayor Buttigieg in the highest personal regard. We have a great working relationship. I see him as a dedicated public servant and a patriot.”

Wow, that just seethes with hatred and intolerance, doesn’t it?

Commentary continues below advertisement

Buttigieg’s real beef with Pence is that he signed a state law protecting religious business owners from being forced by law into doing things that violate their faith, which was not endorsing “hate” but affirming the First Amendment ban on government prohibiting the free exercise of religious beliefs. It didn’t take away any rights from gays, it just protected the rights of people of faith.

If leftists really believed in a diverse, multi-cultural society as they claim, they would be willing to make accommodations for various beliefs to help us all get along, and not try to impose their values by force on 100% of the population. Unfortunately, their definition of “diversity” is only skin-color deep: diversity of thought has no place in their view of America.  What they really want is a mono-culture, where everyone either thinks the way they do or is too afraid of government reprisals to admit they don’t.  But that is not America.

It’s also – dare I say it? – remarkably intolerant.  Some might even call it “hateful.”

Thanks for concise reporting, It's allowing me to eliminate several sites from my In Box. BTW , Why is the ACLU not involved in transporting Illegals to Sanctuary Cities and States? Seems this should be right up their alley. Anything un-American that fits their founders ideals seems would be a top priority for them?

The Democrats literally have no platform on which to stand in their run for the 2020 election, It is amazing to me. Now with the Mueller report out there they also have so little to discredit Trump with, they're pulling out all the stops on pure nonsense. What new promise can they make? More jobs? too late, Trump has done that. Manufacturing jobs coming back? Too late, Trump has done that. Lowered taxes? make health care more affordable? (at least trying to), and so on. Does any Dem really believe anyone in middle America cares about the abatement issue. Blacks already have more hope with Trump's economy. Does anyone really believe that Obama's policies are just now kicking in, 2.5 years into Trump's presidency? My gosh! The desperation!!

Journalism? Where? I haven't seen any since GWB! Sean Hannity is right and you just proved it, journalism has been dead since 2007. all we have from newspapers and TV is gross incompetence and out and out lies. A TON of the media needs to be in jail for sedition and other crimes. Some need to be sued within in inch of their life for such garbage they have spewed for the last ten years. this is pathetic

I read an Associated Press article in this mornings paper headlined 'CEO's of big banks face off with House Democrats'. It contains a very amusing quote by Maxine Waters, chair of the Financial Services Committee. Pot calling the kettle black? I look forward to reading your take on it!

Thanks for "reading the news" so I don't have to--even in your newsletter. I don't even watch FOX shows any more--I did happen across Tucker Carlson this evening--and, as seems to be on his, Laura Ingraham's and Hannity's shows, there was a montage of outraged democrats. I did keep it there long enough for 2 to be spewing something, and then pelosi came on. I couldn't believe the delusional garbage they were spewing--I had to turn the channel. It seems they are OUTRAGED that Wm Barr even SUGGESTS that 1) mueller had no input on what might be redacted in his report and 2) that there should be ANY investigation into any democrats or the FBI or DOJ and 3) he would not backtrack on his statement that he does believe there was spying going on. See???!!!!! They INSISTED he needed to recuse himself (basically from anything that would show democrats in a negative way) so, like Sessions, he would let democrats go on their merry little way of looking for any reason (real or made up) to oust President Trump. Good for Candace Owens for not letting democrats block her from testifying about hate crimes, and good for Republicans to invite her, and for Pennsylvania Rep. Guy Reschenthaler to give her the floor to answer questions lieu and nadler should have had the courtesy to let her do so. I'm sure they didn't want to hear her testimony, either, as it would not follow their agenda.

Today it's all about Trump's tax returns --Under the same law the Democrats are using to request Trump's tax returns--anyone in the Senate could request the tax returns of anyone in the media, google or yahoo executives or just any American citizens--just to make sure they aren't being influenced by any foreign agents. I am almost hoping the media pushes for this can of worms to be opened.---I have questions about several media personalities and ex politicians sudden financial windfalls.

    Governor Huckabee:
This just in from Glenn Beck..........he knows where the money is coming from to fund all the illegal border crossings.....George
Sorors! And he also said that Chuckie Schumer also knows where the money is coming from and is keeping it quiet! One more
item about the money is it comes through Chicago! Now we know Chicago is bad, full of crime, etc. but now this is the icing on the cake.
You might check with Glenn Beck and fact check it...........but he was just on Hannity and said this is it!
Also, I love AG Barr, he just told Congress what they didn't want to hear, Russia was involved with the 2016 election but not on the Trump side, but spied on US citizens...............and personally all should be exonerated, like General Flynn and especially Carter Page, these men
were slandered by Mueller and George Soros and his Chicago connection need to pay!
    My 2 cents

Gov: When discussing how some folks were used by the previous administration in implementing its "Leading From Behind" policies, I invite you to read author Don Brown's book, "Travesty of Justice", as it clearly lays out in detail, how 6 years ago, 1LT. Clint Lorance, USA, was given a General Courts Martial, convicted of muder and sentenced to 20 years in prison at Leavenworth, for only doing what he was militarily trained to do as an experienced and highly decorated U.S. Army paratrooper and Officer, before being ordered to fight the enemy in Afghanistan. To save his platoon members, from possibly experiencing any further loss of life or limbs, while engaging the Taliban, up close, 1LT. Lorance had to make a split second "battlefield lawyer's decision", based on newly revised enemy engagement rules, that the military command structure imposed on those U.S. troops fighting the Taliban, under the Administrations newly heralded "Leading From Behind" policies. The entire prosecutor/courts martial procedures and implementation, was a put up "scape goat" deal from the beginning, so horrific, to even withhold exculpatory evidence from the Defense team that would prove 1LT. Lorance made the right decision to direct his team to open fire, on what turned out to be three Taliban bomb makers, aboard a motorcycle, headed at high speed, towards the members of his platoon.

Governor Huckabee, this total miscarriage of military justice, imposing its "Leading From Behind" policies for diplomatic reasons, needs the brightest and strongest sunlight possible, to expose this dreadful judgement on 1LT Lorance and its implications on the entire military system. Please read "Travesty of Justice" and make you own decision. If you agree, you will know what to do next!

First of all let me say that " I love Candace Owens"
I put it in quotations because it's actually my words.
I just watched Candace stand up to Nadler and I could hardly contain my laughter.
She is a strong woman that knows her facts and knows how to bring it !
Next, thank you Lord that your hand was upon the Israeli election. Congrats to prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
I am hoping that through him Israel will reclaim all the lands that God has given to them. It's theirs, The Bible is specific about it, and they should have it. God bless Israel and God bless America.

My main concern is one that I don't feel enough attention is given, i.e., Omar and Tlaib attending Muslim meetings and inciting violence against this country. The remark by Omar about 911 was sickening. My fear is that if these women, and I'll include dingbat OAC in that group, will incite the members of their ilk to violence. Omar bothers me most as I believe she would be capable of being seen to have terrorists try to attack the Capitol or do harm to the First Family.
