Activists who caused mayhem trying to crash the joint session of Congress last week –- tragically leading to one shooting death and several other fatalities, including one policeman –- have been characterized in news reports as right-wing conspiracy theorists who identify with such groups as QAnon. It’s not the first time Trump supporters have been reportedly associated with QAnon, and when this came up once before, some readers wrote and asked us, “What is QAnon?”

Heck if I knew. Seriously, we had no idea. And those readers must not have known, either, or they wouldn’t have asked us. Judging from typical news accounts, though, Trump supporters are deep into this and other wild conspiracy theories, like the crazy belief that some people actually commit election fraud. Of course we know that’s nonsense, especially when applied to the 2020 election, which we’ve been assured was the most accurate and secure election in our nation’s history and that’s good enough for us. (Sarcasm alert.)

And since news accounts are known for giving such keen and insightful depictions of Trump supporters –- how we think, what motivates us, what we like to buy at Walmart and order at the Olive Garden –- we were frankly a little embarrassed at our ignorance about QAnon. What kind of self-respecting Trump supporters were we, not even knowing what it was, let alone not believing whatever it was they were putting out there? So we did a little very basic research and tackled the question briefly in a months-old newsletter.

After the Capitol Hill riot last week, the topic of QAnon came up again, in a particularly sad context: Ashli Babbitt, the woman who was killed by a Capitol Hill officer inside the building, reportedly at least looked into it herself.

Here’s how the AP put it: “Her Twitter account promoted mainstream conservative views but also included references to the QAnon conspiracy theory, which centers on the baseless belief that Trump had been secretly fighting deep state enemies and a cabal of Satan-worshiping cannibals operating a child sex trafficking ring.”

Well, they kind of had us at “deep state enemies” but lost us at “Satan-worshiping cannibals.”

Please understand, we strongly condemn the foolish and destructive actions at the Capitol. Everyone involved should be ashamed of what they did and those who disobeyed Capitol Police, vandalized the building and led to the death and destruction should be prosecuted as fully as we called for that to happen to the Antifa and BLM rioters last summer. Their actions helped Trump’s adversaries wrongly paint the President and ALL his supporters as insurrectionists and even seditionists, giving the left an excuse to crush our civil rights, which they are now doing. Still, the AP report about Babbitt reads mostly like a hit piece, especially jarring since the woman had been killed just the day before. It includes a couple of nice remarks from her ex-husband Aaron, but otherwise paints her as a nutty Trump supporter who believed all those crazy things about the election and tweeted about gun rights and illegal immigration.

According to the AP report, “Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who identified as a Libertarian and supporter of the 2nd Amendment, frequently posted unsubstantiated views about election fraud by the President and his most extreme supporters –- activists whose conspiracy theories and unflinching support for Trump have attracted large numbers of online followers.”

Babbitt was once charged with road rage, it says, but acquitted. She reportedly supported a recall drive against California Gov. Gavin Newsome, which is at least one testament to sanity and good judgment.

Again quoting from AP: “Brian Levin, Director of the Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, said Babbitt will be remembered as a martyr by people with a wide range of grievances spanning from disbelief in the seriousness of the pandemic to beliefs in QAnon conspiracy theories.

“‘When you have people in an alternate universe, they will take a catalytic event and spin it in a way that is most appealing to their emotions and fears, irrespective of what the facts may end up showing,’ he said.”

Well, isn’t that special. I get the impression that to such a condescending person, gun rights and legal immigration –- and Trump support –- are right up there with a cannibalistic sex trafficking ring as crazy things to believe in. And many on the left eagerly lump us all into that same alternate universe.

I’d also say that anything called the “Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism” might want to focus just a little attention on the hate and extremism coming from the left, along with those wild conspiracy theories about Trump and Putin and Russian prostitutes. Bet they won’t, though. Because those examples are perfectly normal.

Another report, this from the AIR FORCE TIMES, refers to Babbitt as an “adherent" of QAnon.

Incidentally, this report tells us that Babbitt “was part of a mob that, after being incited by President Trump’s fraudulent claims of a stolen election, overran barricades and stormed Congress...” Hold on --- one timeline of events suggests the mob could not have been listening to Trump’s speech and get there in time to cause the chaos at the Capitol when it took place. We're checking into this, but It appears these people might not have even heard Trump speak, so I’m curious to know how he “incited” them.

Also, the event they were interrupting was an attempt by Republicans in Congress to present their evidence, which thanks to their idiocy, was not presented and never will be.

Apparently, Babbitt had posted a photo of herself in a “QAnon” shirt. We wish we could tell you more about this group, but we –- like most Trump supporters –- are just not into that. When President Trump was asked about it by incredibly rude town hall host Savannah Guthrie last year, he said he didn’t know anything about it. “I just don’t know about QAnon,” he said.

Guthrie argued with him (!), as she did repeatedly throughout the interview. “You do know,” she said.

He insisted he did not. Then he said they were against pedophilia, but it seems he was confused and really talking about Antifa. Apparently, even President Trump didn’t know what QAnon is, or had only a vague idea.

Here’s what the NEW YORK POST said about QAnon in a comprehensive report last October.

QAnon was supposedly named for “Q,” a shadowy figure who remains anonymous. But if some of those people who stormed the Capitol and dashed conservative hopes are members of QAnon, I say the “Q” should really stand for “Quixote,” as in Don Quixote, who famously tilted at windmills.

From this we get the word “quixotic,” which means “foolishly impractical, especially in the pursuit of lofty ideals.” Also, “Having or showing ideas that are different and unusual but not practical or likely to succeed.” That foolhardiness and its tragic end are all the “Q” represents to me.

Hello Mr. Huckabee, it is a privilege to be able to speak with you. Not that you actually have to literally answer this but since there is no real evidence of President Trump inciting violence but something spinned by the left to be able to justify their hatred? Because the allegations are not true could the Senate throw away the impeachment as null and void and completely partisan? Obama did much worse as did other presidents in history. This leftist social justice is really lawlessness, is unfair and actually quite effeminate to the hilt. President Donand Trump is innocent and has been an excellent President. It is sad that evil has manipulated the election results in its favor and now can charge anyone with any crime without evidence at any time. This should all be challenged or it will get so much worse. Giving in and allowing these evil children to be able to indulge their tantrums should not be permitted. God bless you sir and thank you for all you are doing.

Hi Mike, You've always seemed like a good guy and all, but lately your articles are lacking full truth. Case in point, since January 6th, you continuously talk about those who "broke into" or "breached security" at the Capitol and wreaking havoc, refusing to say that there was NO "break in" at all, in fact. Since when is walking through an already open door or through an open barricade breaking in? And remember, these doors and barricades were actually opened by Capitol police themselves!! That's more like an invitation and a warm welcome, not a break in! I've seen the footage from several angles with my own eyes, so this is not just speculation.

Also, keep in mind that it's already been shown that several of the guys who "broke in" and led the way into the Capitol were actually members of Antifa & BLM, and there is plenty of proof of that as were seen in other photos/videos from over the summer, setting fires to buildings and cities!

So, why are you speaking as if this was a true "break in" first of all, and why are you not pointing out that it was actually instigated by Antifa/BLM in the first place before anyone ever even walked inside?? You're not telling the full truth here and I've been patient reading all of your articles over the past 7 days, thinking you would eventually see the evidence and report it as such. Nope. Sorry, but I'm unsubscribing today. I have limited time for anything personal these days, and I definitely don't have time to read either misreported or underreported information. Hate that you're a fence-straddler and afraid to speak the full truth like all the rest. It's a shame because we need more fearless leaders, not those who are scared to report all of the facts.

QAnon? What ever that mythical ? is? That's not a typo. There was fraud and it was and is confirmed in: Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York and of course: Georgia. But, then wasn't there an investigation on the Biden's, Oh wait. That was the Cause of the 1st Impeachment of President Trump. The Ukraine, as I read earlier has a warrant out for Mr. Biden, I think, at least the " News" gave out that information but who knows. We all know that they are very, very reliable source of information( Pun Intended)!
As for the New Congress and the cowards in it. Are tough aren't they? I mean, they have the country to protect and defend, and if if after all the huppala, why shouldn't they go after the President before he leaves office! I mean, he might come back to haunting them at another voting cycle! Can't have that now , can we?
I've said this before: China has one of the best ( Psychological Teams) in this world. They have managed to completely disrupt this world, again with another virus, Have interfered in so many elections it would sound like a book of Who is Who.
They spread the pandemic ( Sars-2019) all over the world. Know a better way to destroy Countries? They even managed ,to have control programs, throughout so many countries with rules that are , at best, Idiotic ah heck ( So Socialistic / Communistic ) but so what. Who listens to the medical experts? Politician's have applied the " Chinese " method very, very well! Right down to H.O.A's, Cities, Counties, States. Oh well. They were able to change the entire political environment. It was amazing to watch. Judges overrule LAW & Law makers. Entire legislatures were mocked by single judges. Wasn't that amazing! Law's and rules were set aside for the convenience of one party system. Oh wait. That did happen, did it not?? " Sarcasm intended!

First there is Q - a mysterious poster of codes on the 8chan board
Secondly there are Anons - people who attempt to decipher the codes
But there is no Qanon - no organized group or connection to anything except perhaps an individual person who likes to read the Q posts and the various decodes by Anons.
It seems the left is trying to establish something called Qanon as a group of domestic terrorists as a way to diminish their backing of Antifa/BLM. That is why most conservatives have no idea what Qanon is. Once in a while you might see a person at a Trump rally with a Q on their shirt, but it is like 1 in 100,000 so pretty meaningless overall.

Why since things are getting worse by the second, why by the constant request of generals He don't declare Martial Laws and start revealing all the prove against the left?? People are getting very worry . Thank You and God Bless.

Is it not time for another stupid pelosi idea to end? She's done enough damage to this Country in the last 4 years that anyone could imagine. We are not paying congress to berate President Trump and force him out of office and they need to get to the business of running this Country. She and her fellow democrats should follow the Constitution at once. This is a stupid waste of taxpayer money (which is hard to get in these covid 19 times.) It would be incredible if the democrats see the problems with their elected leaders, maybe we would have something positive to see. They need to acknowledge what President Trump has done positively and stop putting their head in the sand. Trump made some mistakes (as does everyone including the democrats). There is nothing he has done intentionally to prove his Love Of The United States of America and the greatness of this Nation. May God Bless our President and all the rest of humanity. (That's a big job!) Thank You Governor for all the insight and decency You provide for us.

I’ve followed Q since the beginning. I don’t call myself a quanon but I am informed about what they believe and stand for. They are not violent in any way. They believe the q board is military operations. They absolutely love president trump and they do believe certain deep state are involved in pedophelia such as joe Biden! There has been proof of hunter being involved as well. And many others. They believe trump started the movement to get truth to American patriots. They are not a bad movement. They are definitely not a cult. They are simply American patriots fighting the fight online and sticking together. That is what I see in the Q movement. I’ve been following you for years as well since way before trumps election!

I have been listening to the comments on the House floor regarding the Impeachment proceedings.
I am ready to be ill!! (again)
These people were planning days (if not weeks) in advance of January 6 to storm the Capitol and wreck havoc. They did NOT come to the Capitol that day, listen to Trump, who must have said, "Go storm the Capitol. Break into it. Steal things. Destroy as much as you can." and then headed to the Capitol to obey his commands!!
That is as stupid as the people who said that the Benghazi attackers just "happened" to have rocket shooters and guns when they went out for a peaceful nighttime walk around Benghazi!!
STOP BLAMING THE PRESIDENT'S WORDS FOR YOUR ACTIONS. The rioters, and only the rioters, are responsible for their actions.
And for those of you say that We the People had absolutely no reasonable reason for doubting the election results or process, just remember the farcical evidence you presented for saying that the election in 2016 had been changed because of Russia's interference!

Mike, the other thng I haven't heard reported about in regards to the Trump rally in DC is that our cellplhones didn't work during his speech. You can see pics of prople trying to use their phones. So if the cell phones were jammed up, how did any message get to Trump supporters/rioters that were out of hearing distance at the Capitol, during the speech? And you just pointed out that we wouldn't have had enough time to get to the Capitol to cause mayhem. I thought these very same things. Impossible on two fronts. It seems clear to me that this was pre-planned and had nothing to do with the Pres' speech. But here is my question for you - what is it we can do to help? Can our country be righted? With pervasive cheating on the left, can we ever expect to win another election? I feel like there will not be a champion for our rights ever again until the Lord himself comes, hopefully soon.

I don't care who, what, IF regarding "Q". In being a political activist going on 19 years now....."Q" is valuable......and I wish I'd thought of it!! It's a "scavenger-hunt" or "puzzle game" or the like...and it proved a VALUABLE SERVICE is helping to AWAKEN peeps who'd otherwise look at me like I was insane...when I tried to explain how corrupt every single department & bureaucrat, and Presidents the last 40+ years!!!!! BRILLIANT!

A lot of the stuff in "Q" has come true too! HA! But, from the 1st 6 weeks of Q...a ginormous amount of otherwise workin'stiff-taxpaying peeps, have LEARNED about the Constitution, Rule of Law, and have actually become Voting participates! (We The People participation has always been my goal.)

I wish I'd thought of something similiar, and beat Q to the punch!!! HA!

You said that Trump is at his best when he is fighting for americans and not when he is fighting for himself (as you think he is now). Well, Mike, trump knows what will happen to the american people if biden gets in so in that case trump really is and has been fighting for the truth of the election to protect the american people from what is coming, socialism and worse. think about that.

I like your show and watch it often. Recently you said you knew the people who stormed the capital were Trump supporters because they said they were. Really? No one has ever done a criminal act and then lied? There have been many, many Trump rallies with no violence. So it seems more likely to me that the criminals were lying. I'm not saying some Trump supporters might not have acted inappropriately but it would have definitely been out of character.

    01/13/2021 11:27 AM

Actually Qanon means anonymous. A Q supporter believes Trump was sending hidden messages to his followers about future events that were about to happen and Q was supposedly the President himself. So people who were looking through these Q messages believed Trump was speaking directly to them and they just needed to unencrypt the coded message. The messages generally were about the Deep State. I am no way an advocate but seems they were quite harmless.

I think most of us were a little too quick in our 'rush to judgment' on those protesting. Evidence is already being shown via video and investigation that a number of those who breached the Capitol may not have been Trump supporters at all and were the instigators of the breach to begin with. I would put nothing past the Democrats, and for that matter a number of prominent Republicans. If you are going to "drain the swamp" you have to realize all the 'rats' aren't only in one party. I believe Trump was already aware of that and we are seeing evidence of it today if we are willing to open our eyes. God works in strange ways and I believe we are about to see something on the order of 'miraculous.'

I am wanting to know what I can do to help stop Congress with this again ridiculous impeachment?
They are supposed to be our voice! We pay their salary. What gives them the power to take away my power? They need to focus on real issues Americans face at this time!
I feel helpless in not being able to make them stop. I’m a Republican; I support President Trump. Democrats just want him down, defeated and ruined!

Did those people that got stimulus checks that don’t like him send the checks back to the government?
And I heard Chuck Shumer (SP) say we gotta get those 2,000 dollar checks out! Well my, my...who demanded we get 2,000$? It wasn’t the Democrats! It was President Donald Trump!

My question is “what can I do?” I have turned off the tv news because it breaks my heart to listen to the slander.

Our President is not a stand down person when it comes to the hard working, honest American citizens! Foreign leaders fear him because he is a negotiator and he fights for us! He does not take their rhetoric lightly!

I hope everyone has noticed he never stopped working for us. He is still working for us.

What can I do to help? I’m just a simple 71 year old lady that just retired from working as a teacher and speech pathologist for 55 years. I want to live in peace, strong faith and harmony. This is not the America I use to know.
May God shed light on our country.

Thank you Mr Huckabee for reporting the truth!
May God Bless our people and help all of us on this great land the USA stay free and get reunited.
