I’ve explained many times that the word “progressive” is now used to describe people who live in the last century and want to bring back a number of terrible, proven-failed ideas from long ago, from segregation to judging people by their skin color to socialism and communism.
If you think I’m just being a right-wing reactionary, let me draw your attention to Columbia University, an elite school with a 3% acceptance rate, where the annual cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies, room and board and other expenses is a lavish $79,814. It prides itself on being extremely “progressive.” And it’s not only brought back racially and sexually segregated graduation ceremonies, but the children of the wealthy who attend can now join the newly sanctioned “Columbia Communism Club.”
It touts itself to students by saying that if you want to “better understand leftist theory,” then “join us today and be a part of the movement!”
Having lived through decades of watching how communism really works, let me save you some trouble, kids. They talk a lot about “theory” because that’s the only place where communism works. Even Homer Simpson understood that. Everywhere that it’s actually tried, it leads to corruption, tyranny, poverty, torture, oppression, deprivation and death – by conservative estimates, the deaths of about 65 million people worldwide since 1917.
Now, let me offer just two words of advice to any parents whose kids are thinking of going to Columbia: “Trade school.”
