MORNING EDITION

April 3, 2020

By Mike Huckabee

Yesterday, I wrote about the pressing need for data --- not the long-term data some medical researchers insist on seeing before they advise us to start returning to some semblance of normal, but what we can learn NOW to help us know how to respond. Today, we have more of that.

Of course, we have this piece of data to consider: 6.6 million unemployment claims. In a flash, we’ve gone from virtually full employment in the last year of Trump’s first term to this staggering statistic.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, coming from the point of view of a researcher, has said the fight will continue until there is absolutely no new case of COVID-19; of course, he’s looking ahead to a vaccine. Well, a vaccine will be just super, but a proven-safe and effective vaccine for the population at large could be 12 to 18 months away –- though one trial with mice at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is already looking promising –- and we cannot shut America down that long. We can’t shut America down for 12 to 18 more WEEKS. So let’s look at what we can reasonably do in the meantime.

Alex Berenson, a former NEW YORK TIMES reporter who has been looking hard at available numbers, said as a guest on Tucker Carlson’s show Thursday that the computer models predicting apocalyptic effects of this virus in terms of serious illness and death are turning out to be wildly wrong. “In some cases,” Berenson said, “these epidemiological models are extremely new. They’ve gone extremely ‘south’ in a matter of days." He’s daring to ask if there might be some other strategy that would do just as well and might be less damaging to the economy. “We’ve done it [put millions out of work] on the basis of models that don’t seem to line up with reality in real-time.”

DANGEROUS:  PELOSI PLAYING POLITICS

Having already held up the $2 trillion coronavirus rescue bill for a week while she tried to stuff if full of leftist Christmas list items, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided that now is the perfect time to set up a House Committee run by some of the most radically partisan Democrats in the House, like James “This is a tremendous opportunity” Clyburn, to “oversee” (and I assume, hamstring) how the Trump Administration is getting the money to people and businesses. And of course, it must have “subpoena powers.” Note that the bill already has mechanisms built into it to assure proper oversight.

Pelosi said, “Where there’s money, there’s also frequently mischief” (and she oughta know!)…“The committee will be empowered to examine all aspects of the federal response to coronavirus, and to assure that the taxpayers’ dollars are being wisely and efficiently spent to save lives, deliver relief and benefit our economy.”

I don’t know about you, but when I want tips on how to spend taxpayers’ dollars wisely and efficiently, I immediately think of Nancy Pelosi and the House Democratic leadership.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said the committee is unnecessary because there are already oversight mechanisms built into the bill. But that’s granting the premise that the point of the committee would be honest oversight.

We’ve already pointed out that back when Trump was trying to deal with the earliest days of the virus, shutting down travel from China and establishing a task force, the same House Democrats who now savage him for not acting soon enough were obsessed with nothing but their bogus impeachment prosecution, which arose out of their mad fixation on investigations, subpoenas, destroying their political opponents and increasing their own power. Now, with the US death toll nearing 6,000 and Americans desperate for relief from the shutdown, House Democrats are demonstrating that they are still obsessed with investigations, subpoenas, destroying their political opponents and increasing their own power.

In a way, it’s almost comforting to know that in the midst of so much chaos and upheaval, one thing remains completely unchanged.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

While it’s very difficult to predict disruptive events, writer William L. Gensert at American Thinker is willing to go out on a limb with a prediction: China is planning a military attack on the US. Please note that I’m not endorsing this view, I just think it’s worth taking a look at. And unlike Trump’s coronavirus critics, at least Mr. Gensert has issued his warning and laid out his evidence BEFORE anything actually happened.

A RETURN TO THE DAYS OF COMMON SENSE

Many on the left are salivating at the idea that the pandemic shutdown and government bailout will somehow prompt Americans to embrace their leftist agenda. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo even said we will never go back to “normal” again.

I disagree: I think we won’t go back to the “new normal” that the left and the media have been trying to gaslight us into accepting. The “new normal” was the one where it’s perfectly fine to trust China and let them make our medicines; where it’s xenophobic to think we should bring our manufacturing jobs back to America and put our own interests first; where we should do away with borders and claim it’s racist to stop people from other countries going wherever they want no matter what diseases they’re carrying; where we replace clean plastic grocery bags with reusable cloth bags that are hard to sterilize; where our biggest threat of extinction comes from the thermometer; and where everyone should live in densely-packed urban areas, sharing each other’s germs on mass transit vehicles.

I don’t think we’ll go back to THAT “normal,” thank God, but if we’re lucky, people will now realize just how dangerously crazy those ideas are and go back to the normal normal that prevailed in the days of common sense.

All of this is to set up this story, which shows just how nakedly opportunistic the left is being with this virus scare. This comes courtesy of Rep. Jerrold Nadler, last seen pushing some ridiculous impeachment charges. He now thinks the coronavirus is justification for reversing the federal ban on aborted fetal tissue research. He cites one researcher who wants an exception to the ban.

For the record, more than 60 potential treatments are currently under investigation, none of which uses aborted fetal tissue to try to cure the coronavirus. But I am amazed that he didn’t try to hide this inside the economic rescue bill, between the funding for public radio and the vote-by-mail scheme.

1. U.S. # CONFIRMED CASES (As of 6:30 AM): 245,573   DEATHS: 6,058  RECOVERIES: 9,228

TESTS GIVEN:  1,288,013

2.  CDC RECOMMENDATIONS: How to protect yourself  |  What to do if you are sick

3.  CORONAVIRUS DEATHS:  They are mounting everywhere, these are a few names you might recognize.

4.  WHAT DO YOU THINK:  Share your thoughts on President Trump's handling of this crisis

5.  DATA:  We see data emerging NOW, and it may be a "game-changer"

6. A CURE?: Some potential good news on a possible cure for COVID-19.

SOME PERSPECTIVE

A fascinating chart, updated daily, comparing 20 pandemics that have struck mankind over the past 2000 years. As bad as COVID-19 is, if we can “flatten the curve” and develop treatments and vaccines quickly, it could still rank near the bottom. By comparison, the #1 pandemic of all time, the Bubonic Plague of the 1300s, had a death toll of 200 million.

Bible Verse of the Day (KJV)

"And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.."

Colossians 3:14 (KJV)

I think your contributor Don Crumbly is really on to something.. It is brilliant strategy the Commies are using to place conclaves inside countries they intend to conquer.. I would liken it to the Trojan horse. They are inscrutable schemers and have drawn us into their web like a spider. They will be able to throw the switch and have us at their mercy and they have none. Clever little yellow varmints they are.i

    Governor Mike,

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to the democrats. Watching since 1968 (when the real democrat party died, and the neo-commies took over), I realized the current crop of would be democrats could not organize an earthquake, and if they ever managed, someone would have to tell everybody on their face book page within a day or two.

But, now that we are pretty sure the Chinese deliberately allowed COVID-19 to proliferate, how convenient was it for the Chinese cover-up in late December and early January to have Nanny Pelosi dithering with her "Maybe I will, maybe I won't" approach to sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate? Then, by dragging impeachment proceedings out interminably Nanny bought the Chinese more time, and gave WHO a chance to get on the Chinese propaganda train.

Finally, being the perfect Chinese 'news anchor", Nanny told everyone to ignore what Trump was saying about social distancing, and encouraged everyone to come out and go to the Chinese New Years celebration.

Can't at this time prove she knowingly was helping the Chinese with their perfidious plan, but she certainly was helpful to the chinese. (Sure be nice to know what communications Nanny had with the Chinese from early December to mid March.)

Gov. Huckabee: As a follow on to my "Food For Thought" question yesterday, I found the "American Thinker" article that you have high-lighted today, to be very thought provocative, as its thesis follows the potential question about China's Communist Party and its greatest's natural resource, a capacity pool of 1.3 billion people, that is available to be tapped and unleased on the world militarily, as needed.

However, could it all be more diabolical than the theory offered by the American Thinker, as being part of a future military attack against the U.S.? China has funded, deployed and placed workers in conclaves all over the world from every profession/skill, as part of its "Silk Road" Program and the U.S. is one country of many that contains established conclaves. Travel between these world-wide conclaves is a continuous process that has gone on for years. (Part of the 100 year Plan?)

In just the U.S. alone, it is estimated China processed more than 700,000 of its citizens, for one reason or another, to travel into the U.S. during Oct-Dec 2019 and Jan 2020, before President Trump shut the gate due to the Wu Han Virus, (CV-19). This travel number does not begin to estimate how many more of China's citizens were processed, to travel to other enclave parts of the world, during the same time frame? Was the excess number of travelers all just related to the annual Chinese New Year's celebration or was the celebration just a convenient reason for processing travel numbers for other purposes?

If a Communist country's maximum resource is people, what is there to keep that apparatus from utilizing that specific resource in its stated objective to control the world, in order to achieve its long range world wide objectives? Certainly not it's moral compass. Was CV-19 just an accident in a Communist government lab and coincidental in it's timing, that has resulted in a world wide pandemic or is it much deeper than that? There are lots of unanswered questions and little valid factual information.

    Hey Mike -
Tucker made a great observation ...
POTUS TRUMP has more to deal with than just the virus .. economy, national security, China...
So, his advisers may be narrow subject experts, but he has to find the best solution for all issues.
His medical advisers may recommend "self-quarantine" for a year, but his economic advisers ....
His trade advisers may suggest "trade with China carefully", his security advisers "Cut China off"..
Pray for POTUS TRUMP's wisdom to govern wisely in all these conflicting issues.

There is tragedy all around us but what might be the worst of all.....So many people are believing and are in lockstep with the media and Democrats. We might just lose our country and way of life.
