A new abortion law in Maine

June 11, 2019

As the media go ape over every state law that restricts abortion, they are noticeably quiet about new laws in blue states that loosen abortion restrictions to the point of endangering women’s health.  Like this new law, just signed by the Governor of Maine.

This one allows abortions to be performed by people who aren’t even doctors, such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified nurse-midwives. If this is the direction that the pro-abortion lobby wants to go, then could we at least drop the charade that they defend abortion rights in the name of “protecting women’s health”?

Allowing infanticide on a post-birth baby is not “protecting the mother’s health,” and letting people who aren’t even doctors perform potentially dangerous surgical procedures on women is not “protecting women’s health.”  Such practices are either irrelevant or downright detrimental to the pregnant woman’s health.  They serve one purpose only: promoting the widespread normalization of the killing of children, either in or out of the womb, in order to exalt the value of convenience over human life.

Please stop insulting our intelligence by claiming you’re protecting “women’s health” when you’re legalizing letting people who aren't even doctors perform surgery on women.

I believe that Maine doesn't know a thing about surgery having to be done by a qualified doctor who is trained. A nondoctor could certainly cause a woman to get very ill with a serious infection if it was done wrong or cause the woman to die during the process. We need this to get to the Supreme Court and get Roe vs Wade reversed. Once that happens the states that allow infanticide will no longer be able to allow infanticide. I don't believe abortion is the answer. I believe abortion is murder of a human life

I live in Maine. Came here almost 40 yrs ago from NJ, because NJ was bad then. Took a long time to taint & destroy Maine, but this crazy-arsed Governor has undone all the good done in 6 yrs of GOP leadership IN JUST 6 MONTHS! The woman is crazy, and NOT looking out for the people of this state.

Has the word adoption become a "dirty" word or no longer in Webster's dictionary as it refers to the act of those who are unable to conceive children wanting to share their love, etc with a child not able to be raised by it's natural mother/parents.
There is a significant # of couples as well as singles wanting to adopt infants. In the 70's when young single mothers chose not to "keep" expected babies, they were paid by those wanting their babies to give up parental rights....or the adoption process was handled a bit more ethically through respected adoption agencies. What has happened to those options vs abortion? Are the pregnant mothers not wanting the responsibility of children given information about adoption pathes? I guess that would threaten the future of Planned Parenthood (abortion) services.

Well written, Governor. The issue has NEVER been about women's health, on either side. It has always been about the right to life of a God-created creature versus the desire to have abortion available as a tool for birth control. I weep for this country.

Democrats are the party of death. They have proven that with their support of fill term abortion. It was never about women’s healthcare. It was the fulfillment of Margaret Sangers Eugenics dream of getting rid of undesirables. Evil, pure & simple.
