Brownies are racist

Time once again to spin the Big Wheel of Random Racism and see what’s racist today! There it goes!  And it comes to a stop…on…..”Brownies!” Mark it down, Brownies are now racist!

To be clear, they mean the name given to the youngest members of girl groups like the Girl Scouts, not the delicious chocolatey baked goods, although I’m sure we’ll also soon learn that those are racist, too. The Canadian Girl Guides group is doing away with the name “Brownies” because they claim it was somehow causing girls to experience racism, and don’t be surprised if today’s ultra-woke Girl Scouts USA follows suit.

For the record, the term “Brownies” has been used for over a century and has zero to do with race or skin color. Indeed, girls of all races and skin colors are called “Brownies.” The name was taken from English folklore and refers to fairies who secretly help people do household chores. 

There’s also a term from folklore for people who spend all their time hunting for innocuous things to complain about so they can feed their addiction to power and attention by getting people to knuckle under to their ridiculous complaints. They’re called “trolls.” The proper response to them is to laugh in their faces and ignore them. Anyone who does that deserves brownie points.

Now, if you’ll pardon me, I’m going to go eat a chocolate brownie before those are banned, too.

    Ridiculous and would be quite discouraging if I didn't know Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thanks for the comment on the term, "trolls." I have one around me and that is what I am trying to do -- ignore him. But I am also trying NOT to laugh in his face. I am trying to be nice about it! :)

    I started my eleven years in Scouting as a Brownie. I resent any suggestion that vilifies Scouting. As a Brownie, our uniforms were brown with gold trim and our little brown caps were indeed fairy like and every kid looked like an adorable pixie. I continued in Girl Scouts for eleven years, and each of my badges represented 50 hours of SERVICE to the community. By the time I left Scouting for college, my badge sash had no more room to sew on another badge. So, exactly WHAT is the purpose of childhood? Learning? Contributing? Emotional growth? Responsibility? Perhaps snowflakes and liberals missed the time of their lives and that is why they are shallow.

    I just read an article that stated that "Gypsy" moth is now culturally insensitive and they will now be referef to by their long latin name or by the initials LLS! I'm really starting to wonder who is behind this and how do we get rid of they!

    As a former asst. scout leader, we taught young girls to help mom around the house, and be a good neighbor, AND how to make cup cakes and cookies. And laughing at trolls will make them go away. (I am 78 so I guess that says alot)

    How can something you love name be racist? My mom liked Aunt Jemima that she spent time making a toaster cover. I liked Amos and Andy what is not too like about hard working person

    When I first saw the headline I thought OhNo the powers that be are going to do away with my favorite dessert (The darker the chocolate the better) just because of the name. All I could think of was Have they lost their minds!

    Thanks for your common sense comments!! I know there are a lot of conservatives around, but either they aren't talking, or someone has shut them up. Some of my Facebook friends don't want to say much for fear of being put in "Facebook Jail". Some of us don't have a social life outside of things like Facebook. We need to hear about things from people like you!! (Do you know anything about hiding a gas stove?? I'm NOT giving it up!!
