President Trump and the First Lady are visiting India, where he received a very warm welcome in the way he enjoys most: at a rally in a packed soccer stadium that held about 110,000 people. For more details and some incredible photos, click the link.
It seems a bit odd that a Party whose frontrunner is a socialist who honeymooned in Moscow and praised Soviet breadlines should be trying to gin up another “red scare” about Russia. But non-Bernie Bro Democrats are so discombobulated that they’re trying to resurrect their 2016 “Russian collusion” narrative and can’t even decide which candidate they think Putin is helping.
In the same breath, they’ll claim that Russia is using social media to help Trump, then claim Russia is trying to help Bernie, then claim they’re trying to help Bernie because he would be easier for Trump to beat, so helping Bernie actually helps Trump which helps Russia (are you following this? It’s like listening to your grandmother explain the plot of her favorite soap opera.)
None of this explains why Russia would prefer Trump (who’s put sanctions on Russia, given weapons to Ukraine to fight them, bombed their troops in Syria, and cratered their oil industry profits) over Bernie “Honeymoon in Moscow” Sanders.
Roger Kimbell has some choice words about what an unintentional comedy this all is:
And does anyone seriously think some shenanigans by Russia on Facebook would have any real impact on an election in which over 130 million Americans vote? I like what comedian Joe Machi said on Greg Gutfeld’s show, that nobody goes on Facebook to have their minds changed about politics. You go on Facebook to say mean things about people who disagree with you, then look at “guilty dog” photos.
But not to be left out, Joe Biden is claiming that he’s the latest victim of Russian interference via Facebook.
Biden also complained that the Trump Administration didn’t brief his campaign about alleged Russian targeting of them. You mean the way the Obama-Biden Administration reacted to claims of “Russian collusion” by not telling candidate Trump and instead trying to use it as a pretext to spy on his campaign, undermine his Administration and send his associates to prison? Be happy they didn’t react the way Obama did.
As for the rest of Biden’s complaints about “Russia, Russia, Russia”: Crimea river, Joe.
Pot, Meet Kettle: While Elizabeth Warren was blasting Mike Bloomberg for having female employees sign non-disclosure agreements, the Democratic Party was trying to keep the media from learning about any potential disasters in the Nevada Caucuses by requiring volunteers to sign…non-disclosure agreements!
Okay, I said I wasn’t going to run all of these “foaming-at-the-mouth leftists attack innocent Trump supporters” stories every day because there are so many of them, it would be all we ever got done. But to that anonymous Internet commenter who started this by claiming that most politically-motivated violence was perpetrated by people on the right, I can’t help adding this one.
Two details worth highlighting: there have been about 400 politically-motivated violent incidents against Trump supporters since September 2015 (those are just the ones that were reported; and it doesn’t take into account how many people have felt too threatened even to wear a MAGA cap or put a Trump sticker on their car or a sign in their yard, which is a blatant violation of their right to free speech.)
Also, note that this cowardly assault took place back in July but is only now coming to light because it took three months for Snapchat to turn the video over to police in response to a search warrant. Funny how when a Trump supporter posts a joke or meme that a leftist doesn’t like and they claim to feel “threatened” by it, social media sites somehow manage to take action overnight.
Last month, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the Trump Administration could implement its change to immigration law, barring immigrants who would become “public charges,” dependent on taxpayer-paid government benefits. The law already allowed the barring of those taking cash payments such as welfare, but this extends it to those who would be on programs such as food stamps and public housing (no, it doesn’t apply to refugees, those who are genuinely in need of US assistance.)
A lot is being made in the news this week about liberal Justice Sonya Sotomayor issuing a “scathing” dissent in that case…
…which you can read about at the link. But it might be easy to miss that her biggest gripe isn’t the policy itself but her complaint that Trump is calling on the SCOTUS to issue too many “emergency” rulings to overturn lower courts instead of waiting for all the various layers of appeals to play out. She says this should be reserved for real emergencies, like stays of execution.
I’ll grant the point, but the whole point of all these challenges and appeals is to keep Trump being able to enact any of his agenda until the clock runs out on his Administration. Maybe if the left would stop running to every federal judge with an urge to legislate from the bench and stop abusing the legal system to block the President every time he attempts to exercise his Constitutional powers, then it wouldn’t be necessary to keep calling on the SCOTUS to intervene. Justice Sotomayor’s dissent reminds me of parents who complain about the school constantly calling them to do something about their kids’ out-of-control behavior, but they never consider ending the calls by simply ordering the brats to behave.
Your Monday Two-Tiered Justice System News Roundup:
Former deputy national security adviser K.T. McFarland has come forward to reveal how she felt forced to flee the country to escape the “traumatic” intimidation tactics of the Mueller investigation team, who hounded her with perjury traps and tried to pressure her to plead guilty to crimes she didn’t commit or accuse colleagues of doing things she didn’t think they’d done.
I feel this is a good place to remind you that we do live in the United States of America, where everyone is protected by the Bill of Rights. Could someone please pass along this information to our federal authorities?
A Defense Intelligence Agency employee who pleaded guilty to leaking classified information to the media is facing up to 10 years in prison. Congratulations to the FBI agents who made the case against him. And of course, to former FBI leaders James Comey and Andrew McCabe, who both also leaked classified information to the media and are walking around free and making big money from their media deals.
Finally, for those who have some time to kill and a strong stomach (and warning: a tolerance for some salty language), this is a link to the latest episode of the Thomas Paine Podcast. The guest is former FBI agent Robin Gritz, who talks about the culture of corruption and vindictive retribution she and other whistleblowers suffered from Andrew McCabe and his close associates. She claims she was hounded out of the FBI and had all attempts at finding another job thwarted until she lost her home. Funny how we’re supposed to be so solicitous of some whistleblowers, yet the FBI hammers others like they’re Hillary Clinton’s email server.
