Texas Votes, Bad for Democrats

By Mike Huckabee

One of the great Democrat dreams is “turning Texas blue.” So far, the closest they’ve come was convincing the state to rely on windmills for energy when a historic arctic snowstorm froze their turbines and caused a massive blackout. That turned Texas blue! And if this past weekend is any indication, that may be close as they’ll ever come.

Saturday, there were local elections across the Lone Star State, and Texans made it clear that they’ve seen why so many blue staters are moving in, and they want nothing to do with the policies that brought them there. Here are a few of the most notable election results:

Voters made Lubbock the 23rd Texas city to declare itself a “sanctuary city for the unborn,” declaring abortion murder and outlawing it at every stage. (There are also two such cities in Nebraska.) This is significant because Lubbock is the only city that already had an active abortion provider, a Planned Parenthood clinic that just started offering abortions last month.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/05/lubbock-texas-votes-ban-abortions-dubs-sanctuary-city-unborn/

In a special election, voters in the 6th Congressional District (south of Dallas plus some of the DFW mid-cities) chose a replacement for Republican Rep. Ron Wright, who died of COVID-19 in February. With a number of Republicans splitting the vote, Democrats hoped to get into the runoff and pick up the seat. But Wright’s widow, Susan Wright, came in first, with an endorsement from former President Trump helping overcome a slanderous robocall campaign against her.

https://www.westernjournal.com/day-crowded-primary-republican-candidate-discovers-disgusting-robocalls-making-sick-accusations

And in second place was State Rep. Jake Ellzey, who will face Wright in a run-off. The highest any Democrat came in was third. Hit that sad trombone sound!

https://fox40.com/news/national-and-world-news/house-runoff-in-texas-set-between-gops-wright-ellzey/

But the truly tectonic shift came with the vote in Austin, a blue stronghold Texans call “the People’s Republic of Austin.” Austin has a mayor and city council so far to the left that they were making the city too weird even for Austin residents. They passed an ordinance allowing homeless people to camp virtually anywhere, which, combined with defunding police and driving cops to quit and retire, was turning Texas’ beautiful Capitol into a crime-plagued tent city.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/bryan-preston/2021/05/02/change-austin-voters-strongly-reject-unfettered-homeless-camping-weakening-radicals-adler-and-casar-n1444132

Voters already expressed their displeasure by replacing one council member with an actual (gasp!) Republican, but Mayor Steve Adler and radical council leader Greg Casar didn’t get the message. So, over the strenuous opposition of Adler and Casar, they got a referendum on the ballot to ban camping wherever you want.

Adler and Casar countered by putting other measures onto the ballot, such as adding another district, creating a strong mayor system, and handing out “democracy dollars,” or city dollars to fund political campaigns, all of which would have rewarded the leftist incumbents with more power and influence. Even Ben & Jerry weighed in from Vermont to urge Austin voters to keep their city garbage- and crime-filled.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/bryan-preston/2021/05/02/change-austin-voters-strongly-reject-unfettered-homeless-camping-weakening-radicals-adler-and-casar-n1444132

The results: Austin residents voted to end the homeless camping by 58-42%. “Democracy dollars” and adding a council district lost by 57-43%. And the notion of giving Mayor Adler more power went down in flames by 87-13%!

When Adler saw the early trends, he tried to turn out “progressives” by claiming that older Republicans who don’t represent Austin values were skewing the vote. But in fact, the early voters were only 20% Republican and 55% Democrat. Republicans only make up 40% of the total Austin vote anyway. This was a rare example of Republicans and Democrats coming together to say, “No more destructive ‘progressive’ policies destroying our city!” Let’s hope they keep that spirit alive through the next mayoral and council elections.

Let’s also hope this is a sign that the far-left has pushed its ruinous policies so far that the people are standing up to end it. If it can actually happen in Austin, maybe it can happen in other places with ruinous entrenched Democrat governments, like Chicago, L.A., San Francisco, New York, Detroit and Baltimore. Think of it as the second Texas Revolution, showing the way for all victims of bad leftist government to go to the polls and throw the bums out!

Bad weekend for anti-Trump Republicans

By Mike Huckabee

While it was a bad weekend for Democrats in Texas, it also wasn’t much fun for anti-Trump Republicans. Outspoken Trump critic Sen. Mitt Romney was loudly booed and heckled at the Utah Republican Convention.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/05/mitt-romney-booed-heckled-speech-utah-republican-convention-snaps-delegates-arent-embarrassed-video/

Romney scolded the hostile crowd by saying, “Aren’t you embarrassed?” but the only thing they seemed embarrassed about was their vote for him for Senator.

While Sen. Susan Collins claimed she was “appalled” by home state Republicans booing Romney, we have to remember that her home state is Maine, not Utah. Also, Senators are supposed to represent their constituents, not lecture them on why they’re not living up to the Senator’s high moral standards.

Over in the House, Rep. Liz Cheney is also facing flak for her blunt anti-Trumpness. While she recently won a solid victory to keep her leadership role, there are rumblings that that might not last much longer. Grassroots Republicans are tired of sending people to Washington who lecture them instead of listening to them, and some other GOP leaders are getting the message, even if she isn’t.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/rebeccadowns/2021/05/02/could-we-soon-see-liz-cheney-gone-from-leadership-n2588844

In Utah, Romney told the GOP convention, “We need to come together in strength and unity.” Which is a very good message. It’s one that some Republicans should remember before they decide that it’s cooler to get praise from the New York Times for attacking their fellow Republicans than it is to defend them.

Pro-Veterans rally postponed at the last minute

By Mike Huckabee

For 34 years, the veterans’ group AMVETS has held its Memorial Day motorcycle rally (now called “Rolling To Remember”) in Washington, DC. And for 32 years, the Pentagon has let them use their parking lot as a staging area. But not this year.

https://www.westernjournal.com/biden-admin-denies-parking-permit-bikes-3-decade-straight-veterans-motorcycle-ride-washington-dc/

The Pentagon denied parking permits to the group, claiming concern that a large gathering could spread the coronavirus. Officials say they look forward to working with AMVETS again in the future, maybe by Labor Day.

The event will likely go on, as AMVETS scrambles to find a new staging area. They say they’re trying not to criticize the Pentagon, but this doesn’t set well with a lot of vets. They pulled the plug at the last minute, after many other local organizations, including the police, fire department and National Parks Service, were all on board. DC is allowing indoor museums to reopen, but shutting down an outdoor motorcycle parade. Does that make sense? There’s also a suspicion that Biden Pentagon appointees are wary of letting a more conservative group rally in Washington after the slanderous accusation of all Trump supporters being violent insurrectionists.

I have a solution: just claim that instead of being a pro-veterans rally, it’s an anti-police protest. We know that DC Democrats are all in favor of those and that the coronavirus never spreads at anti-police protests, even if nobody’s wearing masks.

OUR MOST READ STORY YESTERDAYBiden Administration quietly ends Trump policy

Sobering warning from former Obama adviser

By Mike Huckabee

Even former Obama economic advisor Steven Rattner, a fan of big spending on “progressive” programs, is getting nervous about the trillions of dollars President Biden wants to shower on massive bills stuffed full of leftist wishlist items.

https://www.westernjournal.com/former-obama-advisor-gives-democrats-sobering-warning/

In addition to concerns about debt and inflation, Rattner said he’s worried about the execution. He said the last “jobs plan” alone had 76 separate initiatives in it that have to be created and the potential for mistakes is high. He told MSNBC that if these programs don’t produce real results for people, “I think it will set back the cause of progressivism for several more decades” and Americans will start to see government as the enemy again. I think even he realizes that the only things leftists have the ability to run are their mouths and the money printing press.

As the story notes, Obama had an $840 billion stimulus package that enriched cronies like Solyndra but didn’t deliver on “shovel-ready” or “green” jobs. It helped give us Trump, who really did make the economy boom by unleashing the private sector instead of printing federal money. Lucky for Democrats, too many voters have short attention spans and listen to biased news. So here we go, once again trying a strategy that’s a proven failure.

It will be up to Joe Biden to insure that it’s not. He'd just better make sure he doesn’t put the same person in charge of policing all this new spending that Obama put in charge of overseeing his stimulus money. That person was…Joe Biden. Uh-oh.

Anti-beef

By Mike Huckabee

In future “Get Woke, Go Broke” news, fans of the popular food website Epicurious will soon be asking, “Where’s the beef?”

https://www.westernjournal.com/top-cooking-website-no-longer-offering-beef-recipes-bid-fight-climate-change/

The site’s curators insist they’re not anti-beef, but pro-planet. So, declaring that cows create more greenhouse gases (methane – you know how) than raising poultry, pigs or beans (I wouldn’t let beans off the hook for methane emissions so easily), they announced that they will feature no more new recipes involving beef, and that beef will be absent from their homepage, articles, newsletter and Instagram feed.

I’ll bet that a lot of former readers will soon be absent from those things, too. On the plus side, think how much less CO2 will be generated once their servers don’t have to handle all that web traffic.

Rather than trying to tell their readers that beef is “not what’s for dinner,” whether they like it or not, they might want to look into more reasonable alternatives, like this story I shared last month. Some scientists discovered that adding seaweed to cow feed reduced methane emissions by up to 82%.

https://www.westernjournal.com/aoc-suffers-devastating-defeat-war-beef-researchers-discover-happens-feed-cattle-seaweed/

Now, watch them replace all the beef recipes with seaweed recipes.

My only wish is that everyone across the whole USA could read these daily and recognize the truth in your articles. There's so much false info everywhere that needs to be exposed.
