In the past couple of days, we who are paying attention learned that text messages exchanged by Peter Strzok and Lisa Page just days after the 2016 election made direct reference to sending someone into a briefing with Trump’s transition staff with the intention of “developing relationships.” And we who are not utterly clueless know that within the intelligence community, this means SPYING. Spies acquire information in large part by recruiting and developing assets, unwitting or not, usually for the long-term.

Attorney General Bill Barr himself has said he believes spying did take place, and that now he has to determine whether or not it was properly “predicated” (justified). Before he dared to say the word “spy,” It was obvious that members of candidate Trump’s campaign staff had been, well, surveilled. Hundreds of names in classified transcripts of recorded conversations were unmasked, and some of these were illegally leaked. It went even further than eavesdropping over the phone, as some campaign advisers realized they were being contacted, engaged in conversation and oddly “set up” for meetings.

It occurs to me, as long as the intelligence community is recording so many phone conversations, why can’t the FBI bother to record their in-person interviews, instead of relying on the agents’ “302” notes? The agents can't possibly write down everything as it was said, perfectly accurately, and therefore must rely on their impressions, which are bound to be subjective. But for some reason it’s not FBI policy to record interviews. Just phone calls and private conversations, it seems. I digress.

We even know about Admiral Mike Rogers discovering the FISA “702” surveillance and apparently briefing President-elect Trump at the White House, going over the head of his boss –- James Clapper –- to do so, and Trump abruptly moving his transition team out of Trump Tower and out to his golf club in New Jersey. (I imagine a scene in which Rogers marches Trump out of his penthouse office, down the hall and into a small conference room, closes the door and turns on super-loud music to hide their voices in case the room is bugged. Or perhaps Rogers just silently hands Trump a note: “The FBI is spying on your team, man. Better clear out!”) When Trump tweeted that Trump Tower had been “wiretapped,” he was ridiculed by people who would have known better if it weren’t for their Trump Derangement Syndrome. And now we have the Strzok-Page texts that directly refer to "developing relationships" within the transition team.

Sebastian Gorka can add to that.

He says his information is from an impeccable source, a former CIA station chief “of some prominence” who has a legendary reputation within the community of “pre-Brennan” operators. This source told him that even the worst activities of the outgoing Obama FBI team were not curtailed by the fact that Hillary lost. Just the opposite; this person told Gorka that the spying did indeed continue as Trump assembled his transition team. This was done by a “walled-off” team of contractors inside the intelligence community, operating with no FISA authorization or any other type of national security authorization. In other words, this work was strictly political in nature.

We won’t have to wait long to find out if this source knows what he’s talking about. Gorka has also been advised that the first of these revelations will be published in the coming week, and also that more than one investigative journalist already knows the names of those involved in the spying.

If this is correct --- and it certainly is consistent with what we hear from other sources --- then Trump is simply stating a fact when he uses uncomfortable-sounding words such as “coup.” (Heck, I’ve used that word myself.) It’s hard for many to fathom how serious this is. High-up members of the Obama administration --- perhaps as high as it gets, if you know what I mean --- used the FBI to penetrate and surveil the opposing party during a Presidential campaign. Trump won anyway, so they took the next step and got a special counsel investigation to divert attention from what they had done on behalf of Hillary Clinton and also to limit Trump’s authority as President. Even after Obama was out of office and his very top people, like John Brennan and Loretta Lynch, had left as well, the illegal spying appears to have continued. (I would add that these “intelligence professionals” did even more:  they conducted a destructive media campaign in “collaboration” with a more-than-willing anti-Trump press.)

Gorka says this is so serious, it “will soon make Watergate an irrelevance.” I don’t doubt it.

Some have actually started asking what Obama’s role in all this might have been. In case you didn’t see this piece from last week, Peter Kirsanow at NATIONAL REVIEW notes thats “in the wake of the Mueller report’s completion, Barack Obama continues to stand aloof --- a god king exempt from the trifling concerns of mortals.”

Recall that in September of 2016, Lisa Page texted Peter Strzok that “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” In 2019, it’s finally time to turn the tables: WE need to know everything POTUS was doing. Most of the media won’t touch this, of course, but a few amazing investigative reporters will pursue it anyway and will determine the extent of Obama’s knowledge and involvement. In doing so, they will prove themselves to be highly deserving of Pulitzer Prizes that they will not get. Right now, it’s gratifying just to see that some people are at least starting to wonder out loud.

AG Barr is scheduled to testify Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Lindsay Graham, and on Thursday before the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by the thoroughly disrespectful Jerry Nadler. But Democrats led by Nadler have (not surprisingly) changed the rules and want to have Barr questioned not just by them, but by committee lawyers, who would go last. Barr had agreed voluntarily to appear, but this was not the deal, and at this writing, in light of the Democrats’ new terms, he may just say “forget it.” And he’s backed by the Justice Department.

Of course, if Barr doesn’t show up, Nadler will subpoena him. He’s already sent out 81 subpoenas; what’s one more?

A spokesperson for Rep. Doug Collins, the ranking Republican on the House committee, said, “Democrats have yet to prove their demands are anything but abusive and illogical in light of the transparency and good faith the attorney general has shown our committee.”

Republicans on the Senate committee, not being deranged, are just going to follow the rules and ask the questions themselves. That hearing will happen for sure, and it should be good, so pop the popcorn and sit back.

It's rather obvious that the previous Admin. spied and put out a bogus dossier to keep Trump out of the White House. I've thought this since the Russian narrative and Mueller witch hunt began. They hoped to obstruct and get him out of office or to resign before they were exposed. If Hillary won this would all be swept under the FBI and CIA rug and we would be fighting a socialist regime now. I believe if you aren't a liberal at 20 you have no heart and if you're not conservative by 40 you have no brain. I'm 75 now and ultra conservative. Fact is I've experienced a lot of BS over the years!

Obama , Clinton, Lynch, Comey and the rest of them need to be charged with attempting to overthrow the government.
Also, Mueller and Clinton should pay the government back for the 25 million that cost us because they knew what was going on and Mueller just made a load of money for himself and their friends.

A very good article Governor, as always. And the plot thickens. I hope and pray that there is much unmasking or unveiling and that it is so revealing that maybe, just maybe, the mainstream media will actually report on it. Not necessarily accurately, but will report on it. Myself, like millions of Americans are so tired of seeing the deep state swamp, the actions of the Democrats and their agenda to destroy not only our President, but our nation as we know it. I hope and hope that in the next several weeks that much truth is so exposed that it will help stop the Democrats and the mainstream media and their propaganda, at least for a little while.
I pray for not only the President, but for Bill Barr. It appears to me that AG Bill Barr is an honest man with a good reputation, a reputation that the Democrats are no so eager to smear and destroy. Is there anything that the Democrats are involved in that doesn't eventually poison all that they touch? Certainly appears they are hell bent on destroying our nation, our president, our Constitution, our once held values, etc. I like so many are sick of what has been exposed thus far, but I hope what is to come will be the "straw that breaks the camels
back", because millions of Americans want to see accountability, justice and truth.

The spying issue is as bad as you think. The word coup is accurate. I would like Military Tribunals for the participants! And reopening Alcatraz to house the guilty.

The unmasking sent bell off and red lights flashing immediately. And the firing of Mike Flynn for what? talking to a A russian ambassador? and how did the FBI know the jist of his conversation? Not legally anyway. It wasn't even january and things smelled to high heaven. The ovomit is a traitor and a communist so nothing he spearheads is surprising. It is safe to say, he is neck deep in this entire debacle. The reason is clear, hilary lost and barry didn't want that. because everything would be exposed as it is now. Watergate is nothing compared to the scope of this Spygate. I mean GB had Profumo and even that was child's play compared to this.

As Sarah Carter says "We keep peeling back the onion." Baby, she keeps peeling it back an there are more layers, more rotten than the last. I'm sure like me, Mike, you can smell the stench and it gets worse the more text messages we find. We MUST send a clear message, people must be taken out in cuffs on camera. The world must know. I hope the tribunals are ready because we've got a lot of criminals to try and incarcerate. man!

Democrats continue to deflect ANY negativity towards themselves (or/and their cohorts) with Trump attacks and allegations, in order to prepare for the upcoming elections. They will continue to ignore the real criminals (i.e. Obama, Clinton, Comey, Strzok, Page, Clapper, etc) and will say or do ANYTHING to get elected. It is truly pathetic and truly a slap in each Americans face that this has gone on and will continue to move forward with the Dems complete denial and dismissivness of this very, very serious situation. It's tragic and quite upsetting.

My head hurts just trying to get this mess wrapped around my head about how correct MY government is....I used to be so proud of our government officials because I THOUGHT they were on my side and protecting me....I feel so vulnerable and abused. I wonder if this feeling is similar to verbal abuse some victims go through when they realize that a partner has not been true.

How do we know Obama (and Biden) knew? Because if he didn't, he would have screamed bloody murder when it was revealed Hillary paid for the dossier and the dossier was unverified when used to spy on Americans. (Or continue spying, as the case may be.) If innocent, he would have been outraged such garbage was sold to him by Brennan and Clapper (and the rest) as legit.

Not to shamelessly plug my Stream article, but the January 5, 2017 meeting is crucial. To accept that Obama wasn't told and wasn't in on the strategy to only tell Trump about the salacious details of dossier (and then leak meeting to CNN), is to believe that Clapper, Brennan, Comey, Lynch and Yates all walked in there knowing the truth and kept it to themselves. Re-read that bizarre email Susan Rice wrote herself after Trump's inauguration, in light of what we know now. That email is the equivalent of the Marines being told not to touch Santiago in "A Few Good Men." Meanwhile, Obama ordered the "code red." Or in this case, "code orange."

Being a patriotic student of the history of our great country, it is with profound sadness and disappointment that I say that NEVER in my lifetime could I have ever imagined that our institutions would have been so politicized, which would then morph into such corruption. If we can just expose all those involved and perhaps force more stringent rules (and penalties for not following them), perhaps in time we can recover some of the lost trust.

I (and millions of other Americans) are waiting for someone who is actually guilty of a crime other than not being part of the District of Corruption to be CHARGED and PROSECUTED! Only then will I start referring to the Department that houses the FBI and the AG as the Justice Department again, right now I refer to them as the legal Department as precious little justice has been forthcoming.

Mike In the past I have commented how dishonorable guys and gals in the political arena are instead of personally speaking to them. I have been around for 70 years I have changed my ways as conditions changed I had been privileged to live with my parents they were the Greatest Generation and the greatest parents. As I watch these little men and women with their low level view of America I feel sorry for them I have found them to be greedy and have the need to ruin peoples outlook of life, they expose themselves to the decaying life style of DC and the effect of 1 rotten apple put together with other apples will cause decay to all as it works it way thru. Obama didn't start it he just added rotten apples to the barrel to what we have now. The Left is what I call a rotting bunch of apples they are dragging apples from the Right Rommey and a few others into the barrel my disgust is gigantic those people never realized or understood the value of the Greatest Generation and that is why our society stands in the stench of these rotting apples., This society has lowered the rotting apple to just compost with the new apples arriving in the House with new Hate of people I take that back the Germans had Hate they hate our Constitution they seem to Hate Freedom of speech Freedom to make ourselves wealthy Healthy and they hate the idea to love each other. Yes I am disgusted with them But I feel sorrow for them I use my freedoms everyday and I am Thankful for the Greatest Generation for making it possible to live free I am just a small guy trying to keep it that way MAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT REALLY BOTHERS ME THAT WE JUST LET THE DEMOCRATS RUN ALL OVER US AND DO NOTHING TO STAND OUR GROUND OR DEFEND THE REPUBLICANS POSITION. WE JUST GIVE IN AND GIVE IN. NEXT THING THEY ARE GOING TO WANT IS AG BARR'S NUMBERED POSITION IN THE LINE TO HEAVEN!!! GOOD LUCK TO THAT UNREASONABLE REQUEST!!

From what I have heard of the report already it is far worse than Watergate and if there is more and all this is true then those that were involved should be held accountable! If they have any government pay or retirement benefits they should be taken away.

    Re: Spying on Trump:
Now MoveOn.org claims the Trump administration spied on MoveOn.org.
Here's how their email starts out: An explosive investigative report reveled that Donald Trump's Dept. of Homeland Security spied on MoveON and our partners at the height of the family separation crisis, when "we" were organizing 750 peaceful protests across the country.
What a joke. MoveOn is asking $3.00 from their followers to " beef up their cybersecurity" . Just goes to reinforce that the left blames Trump for the activities they are doing themselves.
