Democrats are demanding that candidates release their tax returns in hopes of finding something on Trump, but they might want to think twice about what we’ll learn from their tax forms. Bernie Sanders released 10 years’ worth of his tax returns, and we learned that the socialist who loves to give away other people’s money is not so generous with his own (but then, I already told you he was a socialist, and that’s one of their benchmarks.) The first year Bernie made over a million dollars, thanks to sales of his book (brace yourself for laughter) “Our Revolution,” he gave $10,600 to charity, or less than 1% of his income.
That inspired Campus Reform to take its camera to Dartmouth University and ask Bernie-admiring students what they thought of that.

It’s fun to see some of them try to rationalize his stinginess, for instance by claiming that charity isn’t the best way to help the poor, government coercion is. Or my favorite: “I just think that it’s his money. He can do what he wants with it.”
Exactly! So why are you a socialist and supporting Bernie Sanders?
One clearer-headed student had a much sharper response: “He’s always talking about the 1 percent, maybe that’s the 1 percent he gave to charity.”
Happy Friday America!
With gratitude,
Mike Huckabee

FEATURED STORY
“Fake Newsweek”
Thank goodness it’s Friday, because it’s been exhausting to keep up with this week’s onslaught of fake news. If this keeps up, it might help revive the dying industry of weekly news magazines because we’ll need one just to recap it all. We could call it “Fake Newsweek.”
I’ve already chronicled several of these stories, so here are just a few more that have come down in the past couple of days:
CNN and other outlets trumpeted the game-changing scoop that White House Chief of Staff Mike Mulvaney had admitted that Trump pursued a quid pro quo with Ukraine to demand an investigation of Joe and Hunter Biden in exchange for releasing US aid. Except, no, he didn’t say that at all.
Incidentally, as one of Obama’s top advisers once noted, most of the Washington Press Corps are a bunch of twentysomethings who know very little and believe whatever Democrats tell them, and I doubt that any of them are old enough to have been forced to study Latin in school. For their benefit: "quid pro quo" means “a favor or advantage granted or expected for something in return.” By that definition, Joe Biden bragging about demanding that Ukraine fire its prosecutor in exchange for a release of US aid could be inserted in the dictionary as an illustration of a “quid pro quo.”

In other fake news, despite some claims in the media that there was no cease-fire in Syria between Turkey and the Kurds, there is a cease-fire in Syria between Turkey and the Kurds. Congratulations to Mike Pompeo and Mike Pence for a fantastic piece of diplomatic work.

When President Trump sent Turkish President Recep Erdogan a letter warning him of dire consequences if he did not end his military assault on Kurds on the Syrian border, his critics mocked it as juvenile, embarrassing, puerile, proof that he was “spinning out of control.” Some outlets speculated that the letter might be a hoax. It was widely reported that Erdogan greeted it with such contempt, he threw it in the trash. A writer at The Atlantic said “there may be no more vivid illustration of how American leadership has declined in the world.”
Corrections: The letter was real. Erdogan didn’t throw it in the trash. And it worked. Don Surber illustrates how hard it would have been to keep up with this week’s tsunami of sewage from the media.

Finally, we’ve all learned that the term “fact-checker” is one of the biggest lies around, as Snopes.com proved with this story:
No, Chick-fil-A does not fund an organization that sent someone to Uganda to help write a bill to murder gay people.

I could go on and on, but I have a copy of the New York Times on my desk that says it’s Friday, October 18, 2019, and I need to go look at my calendar and make sure that’s actually true.

I wanted to make sure you also read these comments:
The latest Project Veritas insider expose video of CNN is out, and it’s both shocking and unsurprising. Among the lowlights: CNN employees grousing that the network is “totally left-leaning” but doesn’t want to admit it; that Jeff Zucker has made CNN sell its soul to the devil and become “all-Trump all the time” and cover nothing else; that his morning editorial calls are “bull(BLEEP);” and one complained of the obsession with Trump, “The only way this will go away is when he [Trump] dies. Hopefully soon.”
“The most trusted name in news,” ladies and gentlemen!

I’m sure you know and love Mike Rowe from “Dirty Jobs,” and his great series “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” that airs after “Huckabee” on TBN. If so, you’ll love his new book filled with common sense, “The Way I Heard It,” and the Fox News interview at this link.

Mike has some interesting things to say about living in California under the loony leftist government, and the Democrats’ war on successful people. But most of all, click it for his perfect one-sentence summation of Tuesday’s 3-1/2-hour Democratic Presidential debate.
Bible Verse of the Day (KJV)
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."
