Four Republican members of Congress --- Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar --- walked to the doorstep of the Department of “Justice” headquarters on Pennsylvania Avenue at midday Tuesday to express their concerns about treatment of those jailed for participating in the Capitol Hill “breach” on January 6. They had serious unanswered questions for Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The doors of the DOJ building were closed to them. The members of Congress were not allowed inside.

But guess what happened? Some leftist protesters showed up who seemed to take their inspiration from January 6th. No doubt the only reason they didn’t “breach” the DOJ headquarters themselves is that the doors had been shut to keep out the Republicans. Would those leftist protesters have been tossed into sweaty jail cells and held without bail for three months (and counting)? I think we know the answer to that question.

It was only a matter of minutes before the four Republicans speaking outside the entrance were swarmed by leftist protesters, one of them incessantly blowing a shrill whistle to keep them from being heard from their podium.

The Right Side Broadcasting Network aired their press conference live, not knowing, of course, what it was going to turn into. So now we can see from their recording the lengths to which intolerant, idiotic leftist protesters will go to shut down attempts at reasoned discussion. Video starts about 30 minutes before the press conference begins, but this time is used by reporter Liz Willis to read the letter to AG Garland and give some background, detailing some truly horrific allegations of beatings and denial of sleep and medical care.

Note: their video was removed from YouTube, but as far as we know, you’ll still be able to see it in its entirety here. If sometime between this writing and your attempted viewing it has been taken down, C-Span should have it.

As soon as Greene took to the podium and started asking substantive questions, the loud, piercing whistle started, and it never let up. “We’re here standing up for due process,” Gohmert said as the whistle shrieked nonstop. Gohmert is a former defense attorney and Texas district judge, so fighting for due process and other basic civil rights has been an integral part of his career. He said that when he was a judge, he used to make unannounced visits to jails to make sure the conditions weren’t abusive.

Matt Gaetz spoke through the whistle as well, pointing out that Antifa “set fire to this country for months” when law enforcement didn’t seem to be concerned about that.

Rep. Gosar (yes, through the interminable whistle) called for all 1400 hours of security tapes from that day at the Capitol Building to be released and for all those taken into custody to have their due process rights respected.

Leftist protesters edged closer and started circling, to the concern of staffers and security personnel. To interrupt the press conference, they simply invaded, walking right up to the podium area and causing participants to scatter.

I hope you will listen through the headache-inducing whistle; they used this appalling tactic it to try to keep anyone from hearing. As it went on, they also used drums, horns and other instruments along with the whistle to prevent the members of Congress from speaking. They did manage to speak for about 15 minutes, mostly to stress that they were there to get answers concerning January 6.

As THE EPOCH TIMES has reported, “According to numerous reports, January 6 inmates have been beaten, held in solitary confinement, and denied access to evidence about their own cases.” The attorney general should provide thorough answers to questions on this, but he has responded with silence for months.

“To the guy who’s blowing the whistle, we are not deterred,” Taylor Greene finally said. They were there to ask questions, she said. It was at that point that the leftists stormed the podium and created a situation that made them have to leave. Cars were blocking traffic, and a loud band with crashing cymbals played as well.

As it turned out, the loud whistle-blower interrupting the speeches was standing directly behind the reporter and refused to stop when he was asked. She said after the event that her ears were still ringing. That’s “the intolerant left,” she said. “You’re being censored if you’re a conservative,” she said.

I would encourage you to watch the entire video, as there are some great comments from onlookers after the event ended. “These savages, they belong in jail,” said one onlooker after the speakers dispersed. She called for an investigation of what Nancy Pelosi knew about plans for the Capitol breach before it happened.

Another bystander called for interested persons to contact their representatives for an appointment to tour jail facilities where detainees were being held. She said that in one facility, the temperature had reached 114 degrees. We would add that during the winter it was freezing --- that’s how long these people have been detained! There have been reports of beatings, and of at least one detainee losing an eye in one.

THE EPOCH TIMES has a “premium” report of today’s event.

On the same day this happened, the hearings called for by Speaker Nancy Pelosi into the events of January 6 began, with an extremely dramatic depiction of what happened from the point of view of the Capitol Hill police. Republican committee member Adam Kinzinger of Illinois got all choked up. California Rep. Adam Schiff also appeared to weep at one point (right), and a staff member was handing out Kleenex. Tucker Carlson had a field day with this on Tuesday night.

Here are more highlights –- or perhaps I should say lowlights.

We'll have more on this as it unfolds. If only it could be a nonpartisan attempt at fact-finding, but it won’t be. Recall that Pelosi rejected two of the Republican choices for committee members (a first), Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana. Pelosi says the “bipartisan” panel “will pursue the truth,” but I have no confidence that it will do so, as that is not its purpose

A real investigation would do what that bystander at DOJ headquarters suggested: find out what Pelosi herself knew and why she didn’t order even the barest security, when President Trump had offered her the National Guard and essentially anything she wanted. We also deserve to know more about the killing of Ashli Babbitt, but what do you think are the odds of that?

You and many others, Tucker, Hannidy, Laura, Newsmax, epich times etc are speaking the truth, giving us warnings which we all understand but where are the leaders to start the anti-gov protest, anti-antiva protest. Our military has been taken over, the gov. is lost to all of us and there is another year and half to go before we can even hope change might come and then only through legislature. Our street are murder sites, our homes are broken into, our money is disappearing with higher cost and soon higher taxes. We know, we hear, but there is no change. Besides prayer, where is the human help coming from. Certainly not the Republicans. They do not know how to fight and want.

Elected US Representatives from particular states decided that speaking at the DOJ was the right thing to do to highlight the injustice going on for the January 6 detainees. But then they allowed loud noise made by the opposition to beat them and they quit the podium. I’m guessing that if one starting a heart attack that their “quitting” would be excused as living at that moment in time would be more important than their representation.

We send US military to all points of the world and we know that sometimes a certain percentage of those who enlisted will be killed all in the name of protecting our country or serving the causes of freedom in the world.

But when an earned member of the elite US Olympic gymnastic team feels that it is very possible that a bad physical injury could occur because she knows that things are not working correctly in her head we boo her. We don’t give her the same consideration that we do a representative on a podium that may be having a heart attack. Or Representatives on a platform trying to shine light on injustice who walked away when the going got tough.

Injury or probable injury are good reasons for an athlete to stop doing what they are doing. It does not have to be called quitting.

What should happen is that we should give respect to this renowned athlete who knew the possibility of injury was great. Would we have been happier if she fell from 10 feet in the air and became a quadri or paraplegic? Would we be cheering her after seeing that her life is changed forever as much as some who return from war?

Athletes are not soldiers defending our country. And in the end how many medals the US garners at a competition doesn’t matter.

As a long time public servant, but more importantly a former clergyman, I expected more from you Governor.

It is time for all of us to stand up to the left and their antics. We must elect people that are willing to stand their ground and not succumb to power or threats from the left. God Bless those that are trying to fight the wrongs being imposed on us by the left.

    Gov. Huckabee,
I have often wondered how did Hitler get so powerful? I realize communications weren't the same, but how? I think I'm watching from a front row seat.
This is so very sad. Americans are better than this.
We are destroying ourselves from within.
    Americans are better than this...

Why don't the Republicans try to impeach Biden? Even if they don't have the votes, wouldn't they get some news coverage of all the things going on that a lot of people aren't aware of because they hate Fox and other conservative sources?

Governor, I was born 79 years ago into a rural backwoods part of Kentucky, just a very small and remote part of the world, but I remember my half brother that was 20 years older than I who fought in WWII. I remember as a teenager in the 50s, those men and women who had fought for my freedom and lived to tell the tale and what a tale it was! Today that sacrifice of lives of young dedicated men and women, who fought in all wars, for the freedom to make our voices heard is today trashed and made to look corrupt and vulgar by the ones who enjoy that freedom. What is life without freedom?

English writer Mervyn Peake said “To live at all is miracle enough.” It’s a good line but to "live at all" is not enough. We are told today by the Leftist who want nothing more than control, that we must sacrifice freedom to live as we desire for the purpose of staying alive. A caged bird is alive but without the freedom to fly the limitless sky, it is denied everything that makes it a bird. To be "alive" is not enough. What matters is to live in freedom. A bird is such a fragile creature. It’s really all about movement. Take away a bird’s movement and it’s a handful of feathers and air.

Freedom is not negotiable! You’re either free or you’re not! Freedom is not even safe! Those who’ve been imprisoned are often terrified of freedom. All those choices, for all of that personal responsibility. This is why ex-cons often reoffend, to go back behind bars where it feels safer, out of harm’s way.

I have three grand children. Teenagers and early 20s. Often I think I would like to keep them close by me where I can stop them doing foolish things: even dangerous things. If I kept them in my house no stranger would hurt them, they would not be exposed to a virus from Wuhan: they would be alive but have no life. Not for them and not even for me. I would be their jailer and they would be my caged birds.

As it happens, this past year-and-a-half we have seen what happens to people kept safe in the house. It’s not good! And so if I didn’t know it before, I know now that I have to let members of my family go into a world that is full of all manner of things, danger included.

The thing is, if your freedom means that I might catch COVID from you, then so be it. If my freedom means you might catch COVID from me then so be it. That’s honestly how I see it. For the sake of freedom…I will cheerfully risk catching COVID. That is a chance, one among a multitude, that I am prepared to happily take. Life is not safe: freedom is not safe. For the sake of freedom: yours and mine together, both freedoms being of equal value, I will cheerfully risk getting COVID, or a vehicle accident going to where I want to go, or going broke for the pleasure of making investments, and a million other risks for the freedom to have a life, not merely being alive!!

The killing of Ashli Babbitt was a travesty beyond belief. Something you would expect to happen only in Communist China. That person must be held accountable the same way other policemen have been.

There is so much tyranny and treason going on in our capital I don't understand why we are allowing it to continue without doing something about it.

Republicans that are going to make speeches, need to carry water guns. When an idiot starts to blow a whistle, beat on a drum, or whatever obnoxious noise, immediately douse them with the water. Not only will it shock them, but it makes them look like the idiots they are.
