BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

Celebrate George Washington's Birthday

By Mike Huckabee

Happy George Washington’s Birthday! Our first President and the “Father of His Country” was born on February 22, 1732. Of course, most people these days only celebrate “Presidents’ Day” in honor of all US Presidents. Pardon me, but at the moment, I feel like celebrating George Washington’s Birthday.

Washington has been called the “Indispensable Man” and the “Essential Man” in American history, because without him, the Presidency as we know it would not exist, and there might not even be a United States of America. It’s doubtful that any other general could have led an army of undersupplied volunteers to victory over the greatest military in the world at the time. He guided the Constitutional Convention, helping to assure that the Presidency was a leader of limited powers chosen by the people, not a de facto king. And when he became the first President, he established the tradition of stepping down after two terms. It was unheard of in those days for leaders to voluntarily relinquish power.

Michael McKenna at the Washington Times offers some more history and reasons why all Americans owe a huge debt to George Washington (who is not responsible for the huge debt that Washington has run up on our credit card.)

I especially recommend that students at the University of Washington read this column. They’re demanding that a statue of Washington be removed because slaveholders shouldn’t be honored. As the column notes, this is a statue of Washington on the campus of the University of Washington in the state of Washington.

Enjoy your Washington’s Birthday celebration, and let’s make sure it isn’t the last.

Is Pork Spending The Cure For The Coronavirus?

By Mike Huckabee

If you listen to President Biden and the Democrats, in order for America to recover from the months-long virus shutdown caused by Biden’s pals in China and the Democrats, we need to spend a mountain of borrowed money, at least $1.9 trillion. According to Biden, “In order to grow the economy a year or two, three, and four down the line, we can’t spend too much. Now is the time we should be spending. Now is the time to go big.”

(Note: the economy was booming big before China unleashed a virus on the world and Democrats responded to it by quarantining healthy people and shutting down entire states. It was booming because of lower taxes, deregulation, border security and other policies that Biden has been frantically reversing. Obama tried massive spending on “shovel-ready jobs” to stimulate the economy, and it was virtually useless. But I digress.)

The bill allocates $1400 each to Americans earning less than $75,000 a year, plus a $3600 tax credit for children six and under and $3000 for children age seven to 17. But I guess if we are going to spend a pile of our grandkids’ money, at least it should be going only to people who really need help, right? Well, about that…

It seems that after years of banning “earmarks,” or personal pork projects, they are back with a vengeance now that Democrats control Congress. Here’s some of what must be spent big in order to fight COVID-19, according to the latest version of the House bill:

$100 million for an over-budget, behind-schedule boondoggle of a subway extension project in Silicon Valley, one of the wealthiest communities in America.

Tens of millions for “Title X family planning clinics,” which likely means more government funding of Planned Parenthood.

And more, including…

$128.5 billion for teachers’ unions, many members of which refuse to go back to work.

$40 billion for universities, which have done a whiz-bang job of turning out well-educated, well-adjusted, patriotic and mature young adults lately.

$91 million for “outreach to student loan borrowers.”

Paying off 120% of the debt of “socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.” No, those aren’t farmers who have no access to a “date a farmer” app. It means giving more money to some farmers than others based on their races, or as that used to be known, “racism.” Plus a billion dollars for “outreach programs” to said socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.

$10 million for the preservation of Native American languages. That'll stop the virus in its tracks!

$135 million each for the NEA and the NEH.

$150 million for OSHA and other government regulatory agencies (I thought this bill was supposed to help business owners, not put a boot back on their necks.)

A raise in both the federal minimum wage and the wage for tipped employees (see above.)

$15 billion for Child Care and Development block grants.

$750 million for “global health,” or money we’ll borrow to send to other countries.

$100 million for the EPA to study “health outcome disparities,” or whether COVID and pollution harm black people more than white people.

$50 million for “environmental justice” and “tackling the climate crisis.”

Well, I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Steve Kelly, spokesman for the Republicans on the Senate Banking Committee, said that “congressional Democrats view the reconciliation process as a means to push through their wish list,” regardless of whether the spending is related to vaccines or other actual virus relief.

I wish Dr. Fauci had told us that the cure for the coronavirus was pork. I would’ve eaten more barbecue over the past year.

Biden Reverses Trump

By Mike Huckabee

Among the many good things Trump did that Biden is reversing is the Fair Access Rule, which ordered banks to deal with potential customers on an individual risk assessment basis, not as groups. Obama had used that tactic to block legal businesses that he didn’t like, like gun dealers or payday loan companies, from having access to necessary financial services. It was called “Operation Choke Point,” and it was an un-American abomination. Now, Biden’s apparently laying the groundwork to bring it back.

I hope that the industries that might be affected by this and any conservative legal organizations are already making plans to go to court to fight this. You have been warned.

An Intriguing Conjecture

By Mike Huckabee

Law professor/blogger Ann Althouse floats an intriguing conjecture: What if Donald Trump decides to run for the House in 2022? He could easily win in Florida, and with a red tide taking back the House, Trump could be elected Speaker, and then in charge of Biden’s legislative agenda and any impeachment trials. Think it couldn’t happen? John Quincy Adams lost the Presidency, then came back to serve nine terms in the House.

Personally, I think it would be worth it just to see Nancy Pelosi have to hand Trump her Speaker’s gavel. He might need a crowbar to pry it out of her fingers.

Wondering if anyone is watching what is happening in many cities. I am seeing that (so far) 6 cities are paying people to move to their towns. What troubles me is that Ozarks (Arkansas) has 26,000 being paid to move there. Also, Nelson Peacock (reportedly former Obama Homeland Security Rep) instituted this. So, my concern is are they paying people to move to turn elections for 2022 or sooner. There are 6 towns total doing so. Newton, Iowa, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Savannah, Ga., Hamilton, Ohio, and Alaska. Is anyone watching this to see why..especially Ark. needing 26,000 in a town.

As much as I'd love to see Trump back in office, I'm not sure I can stand any more screaming tantrums from the left. each morning waking up wondering what crazy
"Bash Trump" they have on the agenda today. Of course them having the WH and the rest of the power is bad enough.

Trump running for the House in 2022??? I think I like the idea of that. In all honesty, Melania may like that better than being in the White House again. To have to move again!...but if she is willing, I would absolutely vote for Trump again in 2024 or Ted Cruz. Whichever remains standing.

I cannot tell you what a jolt the few paragraphs of your post gave me! Your “intriguing conjecture” was like the sun breaking through the clouds after a really really really really terrible storm! I have been so filled with anger, frustration & hopelessness after Biden’s fraudulent theft of the presidency, but today my whole attitude changed. Thank you for “intriguing conjecture”! That made my day!

Does Kevin McCarthy adhere to the philosophy of 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.'? It would truly be a shame to cast him adrift after the work he has accomplished. I have to commend him for representing Calif. as a republican.

Here's a thought about 'An Interesting Conjecture'. Let's say Donald Trump is the Speaker of the House. That makes him 3rd in line for the Presidency Succession. Then, if Joe Biden has retired early and Kamala Harris has been impeached, then Donald Trump would be President again. I'm smiling at the thought.

The Communist party of America is growing stronger every day what will be left of America this time next year the boy from Scranton PA. is killing the country how many Biden signs still stick in the peoples yards today most of them I guess after all the he is the city's favorite son. The State itself must be cheering for joy for all the good home town teaching Biden got while growing there. Biden found loyalty from PA.'s election process and he is bringing all that honesty to our country today. My point is look what Scranton's favorite son taught him at an early age and he has taken his teaching's to the Oval office. It appears the country is taking Scranton's teaching and has spread it across the country and it started when Biden as VP to Obama and now our country is falling fast America will become what the Washington Redskins the Fighting Sioux and soon to be the Jeep Cherokee Used to BE, has beens Joe Biden Comrade Of the year and 3 more to come. The CCP Iran Russia North Korea just love it!!!!!!!! But Joe when they are done with you they will behead your family Joe think what you are doing or find some one in your family that can put a civil thought together and have a Family intervention I don't think that will work either but why not try. They will throw you in front of a speeding semi truck to save themselves you know the deal, it's the Scranton's Way.

When will some university "leader" stand up to the pipsqueak radical students who are trying to erase our history? These irrelevant attention seekers need to be told to solve real problems instead of manufacturing them. Destruction of statues reminds me of Hitler's book burning. We don't burn books now we just cancel them. If these immature nitwits are "really" offended by G Washington they shouldn't pick a school with that name or live in a state with that name. Is their next demand that they rename Washington state and then move on to insist that we rename the nation's capital. Soon, the inmates will be in charge of the institution. Enough is enough of humoring these little cretins! Jm

Something good must be replaced by something better, referring to the last segment of your newsletter noted by the woman, Law Professor Ann Althouse. That would be the good that is replace by something Better, having House Speaker Trump. I would LOVE to see that happen! Then maybe House Speaker Trump would be able to tear up a speech that the non-legitimate president used in his or her state of the union address. Speaker of the House Trump, does have a very good sound to it! And to have Majority Leader Trump serve in Congress for the same length of time a Supreme Court Justice serves, would be a wonderful thing too! Something good, the Trump Presidency, being replaced by something even better, Speaker of the House Trump and Majority Leader Trump, is just the thing! (Oops, Professor Althouse is now an 'insurrectionist' 'deplorable'.) I also agree that the juxtaposition you mentioned in yesterday's newsletter, the FACT that the Socialist Democrats have reinforced security around A BUILDING that is not likely to be demolished from outside anytime soon, but the same misguided and wrong-headed 'US govt. leaders' don't think HEIGHTENED SECURITY IS NEEDED ALONG THE BORDERS OF A WHOLE NATION ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC, is pretty self-serving and totally stupid ! It is really their mental-illness encapsulated 'gray matter' and who SAID they'll bring 'UNITY' to the nation's people, meaning legal citizens of a nation, because THEY, THE DEMOCRATS, INDEED SAID THEY WANT UNITY. Well, I have no idea what their meaning of 'unity' is, because they do NOT show 'unity', only 'segregation' of people from THEIR GOVT.
THEY ARE THE SEPARATISTS AND INSURRECTIONISTS ! The Democrats are showing their TRUE colors by bringing 'segregation' back and not 'diversity'!!! MAKE THEM TAKE DIVERSITY TRAINING NOW !!! (Since we the tax payers are paying for it, we might as well get our monies worth!) ( I just got an excellent idea, make the Democrats watch over and over and over again, until they believe it, the movie "HORTON HEARS A WHO", then may be they'll be 're-educated' to understand who the 'who's' are. Oops, did I just put Dr. Suess on the chopping block of banned books for children not to read, because an expert wrote the truth, and a Conservative pointed it out to them, & did a 'fact-checking' of the 'fact-checking' ? Yep, DOUBLE=SPEAK is what Democrats only understand.

Concerning our "Founding Fathers" as slave holders, I wonder does employing an African immigrant automatically make the "Founding Father" kin to Simon Legree? Compared to employee benefits of the average blue collar job these day the perks the employed Africans received back then in today's dollars would have been fantastic. (Ie. housing, meals, short commute, etc.)
It especially irks me that the "Founding Fathers" worked at doing away with slavery, now they get no credit for their hard work.

It would be interesting if Trump won a Senate seat and real Republicans took over.
At this point the left is digging its own grave.
Can you imagine the list if impeachments they may file and also throw a monkey wrench into the slow takeover by the CCP and the UN.
We definitely need to be on our knees and cry out to our God.

Just wondering what all of those 8,000 anti-George Washinton petition signers are going to do with any of their paper money that has President George Washington on it? My wallet could use a few?

Wow, I love the thought of the 2nd term for "former" President Donald J. {John Quincy Adams}Trump but just think what he could do with nine terms in the House? Can you imagine, what a plan? Have you suggested this to Trump, yet?

As long as we're talking Trump being Speaker of the House, he could impeach Biden & Harris. Being 3rd in line, he'd then be president for the remaining 2 years and eligible to run for POTUS for another full term. Wouldn't that be something to see?

Just a quick note about your article on George Washington. The article says he was born on February 22, 1732. Actually, this is not correct. In 1732, Great Britain and all of its colonies, including the ones that make up today's United States of America, were still using the Julian calendar, which is slightly different from the more accurate Gregorian calendar we use today. Therefore, our first president was actually born on February 11, 1732! If the Gregorian calendar had been used in 1732, February 22 would have been his correct birthdate.
