Theater is ruining politics

September 5, 2018

I hear a lot of people complain that politics have ruined theater. Well, after the opening of the Brett Kavanaugh SCOTUS hearings, I think we can agree that the obverse is true as well: theater is ruining politics.

Whether they were committing mayhem in the grandstands or just grandstanding on the committee (shouting, interrupting, talking over the chairman and demanding more documents than some of them could likely read in five lifetimes), Democrats pulled 44 childish stunts to interrupt the first hour of the hearings alone, and 63 in the first segment. And it was all choreographed theater, planned by the Bob Fosse of bull droppings, Chuck Schumer, and the other Democrats during a conference call over the Labor Day weekend.

It was also an embarrassment to the Senate, seeing an incredibly well-qualified nominee who has devoted his life to legal scholarship and public service being slandered by a pack of rabidly partisan spotlight addicts who proved they have the maturity of kindergarteners and the manners of a pack of feral hogs. In a shameful low moment, Democrats who love to admonish us to “think of the children” didn’t seem to care about Judge Kavanaugh’s two young daughters, who were let out of school to come watch their dad and see how the Senate works. They watched their dad be slandered and were eventually escorted out by their mother for their own safety after learning only too well that when Democrats don’t get what they want, the Senate works like “Lord of the Flies.”

It actually made you yearn for the days when Sen. Ted Kennedy stood up like a mature adult and viciously slandered Judge Bork in a dignified and professional manner.

One hallmark of modern liberalism is to jump immediately from unfounded allegation to accepted fact without taking that inconvenient middle step of “proving the allegation.” For instance, it’s currently a popular claim on the left that Trump shouldn’t be allowed to nominate a Supreme Court Justice because he’s an “illegitimate President.”

OUR TOP STORY:  Breaks my heart to say it, but Sessions needs to go

And he is illegitimate because...uh...uh...”RUSSIA!” Oh, wait, 18 months of searching have not turned up any evidence of collusion and we know Russia changed no ballots. Well, then...he didn’t win the popular vote! Several previous Presidents haven’t. Besides, that’s irrelevant: all candidates know it’s an Electoral College race, and Trump won 30 out of 50 states. Okay, how about when Republicans blocked Obama’s last SCOTUS nomination because it was close to an election? That might be an actual argument ,except that it was Obama who was soon to leave office. This is just a midterm election; Trump still has over two years (or maybe six – I love to bear-bait these people) to go.

Maybe the Democrats assume Trump is leaving soon because they’ll win Congress and impeach him on grounds that he wasn’t supposed to beat Hillary, dagnabbit! But having political opponents who are surly to the point of madness doesn’t make someone an illegitimate President. There is no clause in the Constitution that reduces a President’s power because his opponents are living in a mass delusion sparked by anger and wishful thinking. Too bad they didn’t listen to their favorite Daddy figure when he said, “Elections have consequences.”

Now I remember what theater piece the Kavanaugh hearing reminded me of! It was the moment in “Peter Pan” when Peter exhorts everyone to save Tinkerbelle by clapping and making noise to show they do believe in fairies. Of course, that was created way back when a theatrical stunt involving children who refuse to grow up making a public display of their unwavering belief in things that don’t exist was just entertainment and not government.

As a sort-of mental Visine to help you wash the image of the Democrats’ behavior out of your mind’s eye, here is President Trump’s spot-on reaction to their childish antics, followed by some inspiring words from an actual stateswoman, Condoleezza Rice.

Getting real hard to say that this IS NOT a witch hunt. That this is not a conspiracy. The timing of this latest debacle is just so obviously an attempt to derail the mid terms.

WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump faces organized opposition from within his own administration who want to "frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations," according to an op-ed published Wednesday in The New York Times by an anonymous author.
(anonymous author) = hit and run

The writer, identified only as a senior Trump administration official, said that he and others in government have vowed to thwart the president's "more misguided impulses until he is out of office."
(senior Trump administration official) = look I am telling you that I am real important and you should believe me
("more misguided impulses until he is out of office.") = so I am like ummm a hero........ right? This is all but a confession to underhanded spying and disruption.
It pains me to be made aware of the filth that is commonplace in the beltway. Is this what we are paying them to do? Is this productive? If I could pull a single lever that ejected these sandbagging stonewalling do nothings, I'd be hanging on it right now.

We were warned that in the End Days wrong would be right and right would be wrong. Murder (abortion) has become defended by the Progressive Libturds, advocating lawlessness over law, everyday occurrence for them, a total lack of morals, in fact fighting against those who would even teach them. The forces of evil have began to over come the forces for good. The mark of the devil is being well established through action (mark on the hand) and thoughts (mark on the forehead). The question is just how far God will let us go toward our own destruction be fore He steps in.

Amazing. What a horrific display of childishness under the umbrella of free speech. What does this accomplish? I can see it will do anything more than delay the vote.

The first day of the hearings was a disgusting display of how the Democrats treat a fellow human being. They made total fools of themselves, which is something they seem to do on a regular basis. I really felt bad for Judge Kavanaugh’s family who had to sit through the tirades. I am sure the Dems know they cannot block the appointment, so they blither on saying things that aren't even true. I like the term that Pastor Robert Jefress has said on occasion that Congress has a bunch of "Pinheads." That's about how much sense they have!

I wish the chairman would have turned the floor over to the first Democrat speaker and let them rant and rave on her time. She would probably have stopped it. I am sick of this type of behavior! How do these people keep getting elected?

Interesting! You have been saying that conservative sites and/or stories are being sensored, well, I just tried to open that link to “westernjournal” article about Trump’s response is to the bashing of Kavanaugh, and was informed that it is not available at this time. Surprise, surprise!
