What do you think of the official portraits of former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama that have just been unveiled?

The Obamas interviewed more than two dozen artists for the distinction of painting their portraits. (Michelle says this is the first portrait she’s ever sat for.) The paintings will be displayed at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, but not side by side; the former President’s portrait will hang, appropriately, in the hall of presidents, while Michelle’s will hang in another gallery. Both paintings are stunningly different from typical “power portraits,” and, considering that President Obama’s portrait will be viewed in the context of those of other Presidents, that incongruence will be much more obvious in his case than in hers.

Vile opinions of life

By Mike Huckabee

The latest revelation from the web archives of the FBI’s favorite ever-texting adulterous

“progressives,” Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, shows that Donald Trump and his odiferous Walmart-shopping supporters aren’t the only Americans they despise. During a text exchange during the 2016 March For Life, Page fumed that she “truly hates” these pro-life people, while Strzok agreed, called them by an obscene name and fantasized about revoking their permit to assemble because the traffic inconvenienced him (now there’s someone whose respect for the sanctity of life is equaled only by his lack of respect for Constitutional rights and his grasp of the ethical limits of government power).

May I say that it pleases me no end to think that this year, the March For Life was still taking place and got more media coverage than at any time in history, because for the first time, the rally was addressed by the sitting President of the United States: Donald Trump.

Susan Rice's memo

By Mike Huckabee

The latest bizarre twist in the behind-the-scenes investigation of alleged Russian collusion involves yet another memo, but this time, it’s one that former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice wrote to herself. Republican Senators are asking her to explain why she took time, just hours before leaving office on Trump’s Inauguration Day, to write a memo to herself describing a meeting allegedly held 15 days before, in which she pointedly notes that President Obama told them to do everything “by the book.”

The Senators think that reeks of a CYA move and want her to explain why she felt the necessity to send it at such an inopportune time. I’d also like to know if it’s common in Washington for people to write memos to themselves. After all, James Comey did it, too. Are they all just CYA moves (it’s pretty obvious Comey’s had an ulterior motive), or are they just so in the habit of writing pointless memos that they can’t stop writing them, even to themselves?

Liberal haters: No sense of decency

By Mike Huckabee

My best wishes for a speedy recovery to Vanessa Trump, wife of Donald Trump Jr., who was taken to a hospital for decontamination after opening an envelope in the mail that contained an unknown white powder. Fortunately, tests showed the powder was harmless, but Vanessa did feel ill, possibly from understandable fear and stress.

Incredibly, some tolerant, compassionate liberals took to Twitter to mock the incident and hurl vile comments about it that I could link to, but I won’t. You can get the idea at this link, just from Don Jr.’s reply to them. So why would someone think that it’s okay to wish pain, illness and death on an innocent wife and mother simply because she’s married to someone whom they disagree with politically? I guess it’s the same mindset that allowed some creep to know where to mail that letter, thanks to a leftist moron at who tweeted the Trumps’ home address to the world, knowing the type of deranged people it would reach.

To quote a famous line from the McCarthy era, “At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”

Marty Allen passes

By Mike Huckabee

On Sunday, the world lost Vic Damone, and on Monday, another mainstay of mid-century TV, records and nightclubs left us when comedian Marty Allen died in Las Vegas at 95. With his bug eyes, wild Brillo Pad of hair and catchphrase “Hello dere,” Allen and his singing straight man partner Steve Rossi appeared on virtually every TV variety and talk show of the ‘60s, including 44 episodes of Ed Sullivan’s show, even those where the whole world was watching to see the Beatles.

Allen was a living testament to the idea that laughter keeps you young, as he made audiences laugh for well over half a century and all the way into his mid-90s -- first with Rossi, then solo on “Hollywood Squares,” and in the last few decades with his wife as the singer/straight woman. With Vic Damone and Marty Allen arriving in Heaven at the same time, I can’t help imagining Ed Sullivan standing by the Pearly Gates, waiting to introduce them to St. Peter.

Democrat fan-boys for the wrong flag

By Mike Huckabee

Democrats who sat down through mentions of the American flag, US military veterans and record low black unemployment at the State of the Union Address are now attacking Vice President Pence for not standing up for the entrance of the North Korean Olympic team. So in case you were wondering which side they’re rooting for...

I believe women should be given reproductive choice.
Choice #1 - Abstain from those activities that could produce a child.
Chose #2 - Carry the child full term and provide (or provide for) a loving home.

There, that was easy, no more auguring about "choice".

By the way, wonderful memories from the trip to Israel February 2016 with you. Would recommend your tour to anyone, and besides the obvious walk in Biblical history, as we say around Dardanelle, Yell Co, mighty fine preaching to be had.
