Yesterday, it was announced that former Trump campaign aide Steve Bannon, disabled veteran Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badogato, and Timothy Shea have been indicted on fraud charges by the US Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York. They’re accused of using a GoFundMe project to build a wall on the Southern border to rip off donors and siphon money to themselves. Andrew McCarthy lays it all out at the link.

Bannon has already pleaded not guilty, and I make it a point to respect due process rights of the accused on both sides of the aisle, but it looks as if the authorities have built a strong and detailed case. I will say that if this is true, then I am extremely upset and disappointed at the thought of someone scamming money from people who wanted to support a cause they believed in. If this is proven in court, then the guilty parties should pay a penalty for their crimes and be forced to reimburse every penny their donors gave. McCarthy also makes a good observation that this disproves the claim that Trump’s replacement of the federal attorney in that office meant that any prosecutions of people associated with him would be dropped.

Brian Kolfage was one of the 3 charged in the alleged Bannon scam. He is a highly decorated triple amputee Purple Heart recipient who was a guest on my TBN show not long after I met him at an event to benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation. I was inspired by Brian’s story of his long recovery and rehab and still am mindful of the sacrifices he made. If he was part of an effort to improperly take money from donors, then his past service can’t absolve him of responsibility. It would be disappointing if true, as he’s a very energetic and articulate veteran who would have many options to utilize his skills in very legitimate ways. We will let the process play out in court and give him the right of due process.

The media are already trying to tie this to Trump, even though he hasn’t had any association with Bannon in years and he did not support the private wall campaign, calling it “inappropriate” and “showboating.” Media Matters also put out a list of conservative media figures whom they accuse of promoting this project, and they put me on it, with a quote from our newsletter. This is a transparent attempt to smear people who might have been scammed themselves by associating them with the alleged scammers. Maybe they’re seeking to deflect attention from their own current financial scam lawsuit.

Here are the facts: since this project was launched, we have mentioned it only twice. The first time was during the Congressional fight over border wall funding. In an aside, we mentioned that there was then a GoFundMe page to raise money to give the government for the wall, but donations might have to be returned because you can only donate to the general fund, not for a specific project. The other was our story Media Matters quoted, which relied on two news sources that reported a section of the wall had been completed. Our thrust was simply that it disproved the notion that it’s impossible to build a wall there. It also mentioned that critics had called the project a scam.

Neither story endorsed the project nor encouraged our readers to contribute to it. We deliberately chose not to include a link to the GoFundMe pages in either. We don’t promote political fundraising pages, only legitimate charities such as Samaritan’s Purse or the Red Cross, and the occasional humanitarian fundraiser such as medical expenses for a child, veteran or crime victim. We did pass along the GoFundMe link for the project to buy Goya food products, not to support the politics but because by that time, Goya had agreed to donate all the food purchased to food banks.

Again, if the parties turn out to be guilty of scamming, then we will be among the first to report it and condemn them for it. We take the public’s trust seriously and are disgusted by anyone who abuses it.

What’s something you never heard at the Democrats’ virtual convention, aside from “Thank you, President Trump, for all the hard work you’ve been doing?” You never heard the voice of one of the most appealing new voices in the Party.

It’s been traditional for decades to give a speaking role at the convention to any candidate who wins delegates. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard was one of only seven candidates who did, but she confirmed on Twitter that she was “not invited to participate in any way.”

Rep. Gabbard is in most of her beliefs a standard Democrat, but she doesn’t buy into the recent radical leftward tilt. She also pretty well ended Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign by enlightening debate viewers on her record as California’s Attorney General. I’m sure the Dems didn’t want to take a chance of reminding viewers of that! Still, this confirms what has long been “conventional” wisdom: Democrats talk incessantly about “diversity,” but that’s only skin-deep. They have zero tolerance for diversity of thought.

If it’s any consolation, I know how she feels. I have a standing invitation out to prominent liberals to come on my TBN show and have a friendly debate on issues, but I get precious few takers. And guess how many liberal shows ask me to appear. Speaking of that, here’s Rep. Gabbard being welcomed onto my show when she was a Democratic Presidential candidate. We had a respectful, substantive conversation, and she got more airtime than MSNBC gave her.

Why are leftists so afraid of the free exchange of ideas? If it’s that hard to defend what you believe, maybe it’s time to consider other beliefs.

As expected, the mainstream media gushed over Joe Biden’s speech as if it were the greatest oration since the Sermon on the Mount. Although maybe it's even better, since Jesus’ famous sermon might be – brace yourself - “fighting words!”

A black Christian student who was silenced by Gwinnett College in Georgia for preaching the gospel on campus is taking the case to the Supreme Court. The college backed off, but the student wants to establish that this is unacceptable. In preparing to defend the public college, someone in the Georgia Attorney General’s office included the argument that since preaching the gospel might incite violence on campus, quoting Jesus might constitute “fighting words,” which aren’t protected by the First Amendment.

Attorney General Christopher M. Carr said this came from someone on the staff, he hadn’t known about it, and he’s since removed it from the case briefs. That's good, but as Tyler O’Neill notes at the link, it’s disturbing to think there’s anyone in a position of authority who would brand the teachings of the Prince of Peace as “fighting words.” At the risk of triggering some leftists to violence, I’ll quote Jesus: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

“Fact-Checkers”: "The claim that mail-in voting leads to vote fraud is a myth unsupported by evidence!"

Fact: Paterson, New Jersey, has to do their city council election all over again because alleged mail-in vote fraud has made it impossible to determine who rightfully won.

Now, multiply Paterson times every town in America and you’ll get a hint of what potentially awaits us in November if the Democrats get their mail-in voting wish. Incidentally, the most inadvertently hilarious story of the past week is all the mass protests over the ridiculous “disappearing mailbox” conspiracy story. Think about it: they’re gathering in crowds to protest that they won’t be able to vote if they have to go to the polls because that might require them to gather in a crowd.

I think some of these masked people have been inhaling their own exhalations too long.

I was raised in 1950's America so I had not seen anarchists surrounding a homeowners home and calling them m**fers. Shouting at them to give these lowlifes the homes they worked for. Where would these a**holes get the idea that they deserved to have the home that someone else worked for? Isn't that the essence of socialism? What if these "peaceful" savages showed up at some socialist professors home with this request? Seems reasonable to me.

This is a comment about the Biden acceptance speech at the DNC convention. His delivery was overall pretty good as noted by many others; but the first question I had at the end was “did he really deliver it all the way through at one time? Or did he in fact do it in segments that were each pre-recorded then put together as a single speech to be played back at the convention? Is there any technology that could do that flawlessly so that no one could detect it? Just wondering as the delivery was a bit disjointed in places and having observed other Biden interviews this speech seemed “too good to be true” and perhaps it was.

Several months ago, I watched your show featuring Rep. Gabi Gabbard. She sounded more like a conservative Republican. Too bad she won't switch parties as she a wonderful lady that can speak eloquently and to the point. Please invite her in future shows.

I thought you & your readers would be interested in reading:
True to form: When a Democrat claims a virtue like decency, they mean the opposite. Democrat nominee Joe Biden claimed that a vote for him is a vote for decency in his DNC acceptance speech. He claims that the Democrat party is the party of decency, but does that claim hold up? Here are a few questions about Democrat decency.

Is it decent to attack, disable, and defund the police in Democrat-controlled cities while at the same time denying citizens the right to defend themselves?
Is it decent to release violent criminals back into society to commit more crimes like Democrat heroes Gavin Newsom and Andrew Cuomo have done?
Is it decent to ignore the execution of a little boy in broad daylight because he was a white boy killed by a Black man?
Is it decent to decry the shootings of 9 unarmed black men and ignore the thousands of murder victims per year in every Democrat-controlled city?
Is it decent to shoot an 8-year-old girl to death because her mother accidentally drove into a protest zone?
Is it decent to withhold evidence that would have stopped months of rioting, billions of dollars worth of destruction, and deadly racial division? (Minnesota Democrat AG Keith Ellison)
Is it decent to criminalize law-abiding citizens protecting their own homes like the McCloskeys in St. Louis?
Is it decent to refuse to accept the results of an election and relentlessly attack a duly-elected president, contradicting and obstructing his every word and deed, to the harm of the nation, and national security?
Is it decent to use COVID-19 lockdowns to crush small businesses in Democrat-controlled states?
Is it decent to support and actively promote anarchist groups like BLM and Antifa that have explicitly expressed their hatred for America?
Is it decent to kneel for the anthem and burn the flag?
Is it decent to shield and carry water for the country responsible for the global spread of COVID-19?

    "Mass protests"? Yeah sure.
We've seen these potty trained professional "protestors" before -- since the 1980s actually.
They represent no body and no thing.
Americans oppose fake mail in votes and Pelosi loses again.

I really, really enjoy your daily updates. And your sense of humor is right up my alley!! Blessings, Clovia Simpson

I donated to Build the Wall, and as of now, I am willing to wait to see what comes out of the very liberal Southern District of New York.

I am very surprised that you direct people to donate to the Red Cross. They've had more scandals over what they pay their top people all over the country, and funds given to a particular disaster not being spent there, that that alone has told me not to donate to them.

Spot on re Tulsi Gabbard. I believe I caught the clip where you interviewed her. I thought she was the most sensible sounding of any of the Democratic candidates and yet was not given any recognition by her party or the media. Frankly, though I would still vote to re-elect Donald Trump, I believe the Democratic party would have been miles ahead to place her on the top of their ticket.

It truly seems that the Democrat party is still having big problems with the truth? I can't understand how the liberals that hang on every word that comes from the fake news media and the DNC have been able to keep their ears and minds away from the reasonable people who have caused this country to come alive and prosper over the last 3 years until we were brought to a stop by a virus that was imported from a country that was allowed to take over a large part of our economy by the Obama/ Biden administration. If Obama/Biden want to apologize for anything about this great country, they need to apologize for their poor and unacceptable lack of respect for the Country and it's people!

I always enjoy you honest and thorough explanation of events and policies in a very confusing world. I cam across an article about "Allan Lichtman Predicts Biden Will Defeat Trump In November." The SDNY seems to be horribly politicized and biased. Anyone ever associated with President Trump is the target, while the clinton foundation and other scams are ignored. If the We Build the Wall people did do something wrong I would be surprised. Maybe I am just naive, but I would not trust anything coming from the SDNY!

Thanks Mike. Years ago, I had need to see the annual report for Red Cross. It appeared then that monies spent on operating expenses was high percentage of income? I sincerely appreciate the work of Samaritan's Purse!!! An ad for Bidden claims President Trump is slashing monies in Social Security & Medicare?? Follow up to inform how untrue their claims, in addition to the rest!! I see "RED!!" Love,

It's hard to believe the Bannon charges & others. I hope they have due process. Is it another dem attack because of his relationship in the beginning of the Trump campaign?
I heard on TV that Biden said it's Trump's fault for defunding the police. Biden & the far left are in outer space. I said it before the soul of our nation is at risk. Keep the prayer chain going. My husband had to do an absentee ballot for the Aug. Primary. I did in person with ID, with mask, & social distancing, no problem. I dropped his ballot off right at the town hall ballot box & then called town register of voters to check they received it, yes. And when I went in-person, they had his name as absentee vote. May be some of your readers who have to do an absentee ballot should follow up with their cities, towns, etc., to make sure it was received. I made a copy before I dropped it off. Great newsletter!

Steve Bannon was the flavor of the month. I have ranted about the vote coming from the women of the suburbs for over a year I hope they took my thoughts about the suburban community how to keep it safe and valuable Trump did a good thing in helping the communities stay safe and to keep education top tier and property value up. I live in a community where the city did not take Federal money to bring in section 8 housing and the farm fields that use to produce corn soybean peas wheat hay are planting foundations for homes and industry this does not come cheap to reap the benefits of a good life takes hard work most of the time 2 incomes the community used to be farm country you can still find hobby farms 2 1/2 acre homesteads they are very nice yes a lot of hard work is needed to reap the reward and keep it. The community still has farms yet to be sold until then they will supply the country with food and balance that does not need to be changed. Big Government programs end in disaster most of the time vote for smaller Government Americans will then keep the American dream alive Police protect the hard workers from the lazy people that don't want to put in the effort thats why cities want to defund the police to make lazy people even lazier to steal with ease.

Absentee Mail in voting, request a ballot with YOUR info and reason you get a ballot sent to you it may cost you 50 Cents for a stamp if you want to be a fraud and put illegal info thats on you. The DNC should have put a system in that could not be fraudulent after the 2016 election that would have given them 4 years to pass it instead of doing in 4 month an Obama care technique Pelosi used to bring into play another DNC disaster. Use the Post office as culprit another DNC sham. One legal voter one Legal vote DNC that the law you are not above no matter how you corrupt everything.

Sorry Governor, I have no sympathy for Tulsi. If she hasn't changed parties by now, it simply shows you how dense she is. I could never support anyone who can't even see what her party has become. They are actually the Socialist Democratic Party now.
Same goes for Joe Manchin. What an idiot for not changing parties. He has been at this much longer the Tulsi, thus proving what a dimwit he is.
On another note, I see Franklin Graham is finally coming out and holding a rally. I pray he will go to every swing state there is and proclaim Jesus, and let people know what the Socialist Democratic Party will do to ALL religions if they take power.

Thoughts on BLM and their desciples. I have to invoke the Nazis example once again because it best illustrates their tactics. Think of the parallels. Individualism replaced by group think. Kaepernick says kneel and most of pro sports kneel and disrespect their country. They behave no differently than lemmings or windup dolls. These people can appropriately be called numbskulls. Amazing to me that a malcontent like kaepernick can garner such attention. I guess he was aided by the corrupt media that enjoys throwing gasoline on a fire.
