This Is Why I CAN'T STAND The Media

January 26, 2020

MONOLOGUE TEXT

There’s a reason why I increasingly hold the mainstream media in contempt.  It’s because they have destroyed the art of journalism and have replaced it with biased advocacy for the left.  There was a time they at least concealed their partisanship, but not anymore.  The number of true journalists whose stories and reporting don’t tip their hand as to their own political leanings is a very shortlist.  I’ll give you a simple way to determine if a person in the media has crossed the line from journalism to commentary.  If the story is about you or something or someone you like and you can tell whether the writer or reporter likes or despises the person being discussed, that’s commentary.  When after reading or viewing the story, you honestly can’t tell what the opinion of the writer or reporter is, that is journalism.

We need a fair and objective news media.  It’s vital to our great Republic.  The press is supposed to like the referees in a ball game, who may privately have opinions, but keep those subjugated so as to simply state the facts and let the consumer determine what they mean.  They are essentially like the guys wearing the striped shirts, trying to keep the game fair by insisting everyone is playing by the same rules,  But when the guys in the striped shirts wear a team jersey and openly cheer for one side against another, the game is rigged.

A little over a week ago, President Trump signed the USMCA trade agreement, a historic trade deal that replaced the job-killing NAFTA and which was so profound that it was actually passed by an 89-10 vote in the Senate.  Think about that.  It was a truly bipartisan bill that had overwhelming House and Senate support from both parties.  USMCA stands for United States, Mexico, and Canada and it fulfills a YUUUGE promise made by Donald Trump when he was a candidate.  He pledged to get rid of NAFTA and replace it with a trade plan that puts everyone on the same level and stops so many American jobs heading across our northern or southern border.  But how much time did NBC, CBS, ABC, AND CNN and MSNBC devote to this truly major deal that will have great impact on American farmers, manufacturers, and consumers?  ZERO.  Not one second.  Nothing.  They never mentioned it.  They were frothing at the mouth about impeachment that by any reasonable standard is based on political bias, utterly manufactured charges pulled from the blue sky, and carried out exclusively by Democrats as an attempt to overturn the 2016 election that Donald Trump won.

So how can you get information that is trustworthy?  I offer you a few tips:

1. Never take the first “breaking news” as the story.  Too many reporters and networks had rather be first than right.

2.  Discount or even disregard stories based on anonymous “sources” or “high-level officials,” or “senior advisors.”  So-called whistle-blowers are more often smoke-blowers.   And let me be clear—I don’t care where you get your news and information. Even if it’s Fox News where I’m still contributor if they are touting “unnamed sources,” or “my sources close to the President,” don’t fall for it.  It may even be true, but demand better.

3.  If the story doesn’t include a credible and knowledgeable named source to balance or counter the story, toss it in the trash.  It’s where a lot of modern “journalism” belongs.  In the meantime, the media sure is missing some real important news.  And that means you are too.

And if we ever see real journalism again, I’ll quit talking about the New York Slimes, The Washington Compost, CNN, the bottom-feeding Catfish News Network, or BSNBC….

    To Mike Huckabee:

Why are you sending me urgent information for me to DONATE and sign a referendum on declaring "Sanctuary City" Status for Los Angeles, CA where I reside? CA had been a Sanctuary State for years! You are too late attempting to remedy this horrible situation! Gavin Newson is going to laugh and shred the referendum as he could care less about California residents, and more about illegal aliens invading this state! Please do not send me any more documents for me to sign and donate!

My pet peeve is anyone, including the commentators on Fox News, referring to ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN/MSNBC as the 'main stream' media. I wish they would be more accurate in describing them, for instance--the left wing media, the media arm of the Democratic party, --. At least Fox & Friends is up front that they are not media, but commentators.

I am with you. Mainstreamed media is so biased that it is very difficult to listen. Disgusting!

What do you think of Mick Romney? Is he really so uncaring for the average joe blow, or so self centered as to get even with Trump? Apparently, he isn't a cut above. I voted for Mick against John McCain when they were running against each other. I made a mistake.

I do agree with you Mike! I would love to see a news station that just reported facts. The current way of reporting leads me to feel like they don't believe the American people can't think for themselves.

Sensationalism over journalism. They have become what they used to hold in contempt, all for what my daddy used to call 'the almighty dollar.' Tragic.

Governor Mike: Greetings from a little town in central Arkansas. You may have heard of it. It's known as Little Rock! In fact I think you spent a couple of very productive years hear. My wife and I seldom miss your program on either Saturday night or Sunday night depending on our schedule at church. Your comments on the news media last night were right on. Were have all the professional journalists gone? They have become talking heads who love to hear themselves speak. I wish we could go back to the days when real journalists would just present the news and not become a part of it as commentators. I think most people are smart enough to figure our the truth if we were just given the truth. May God richly bless your work and all that you do. An most folks we are associated with, in church and secular folks are hoping that Sarah will at some point be lead to run office in our great state. Maybe a run as governor and then on to the House or Senate. One of my greatest joys was to watch Miss Sarah make fools out of the news media, and she did it so graciously and calmly. I'm seventy-two years old, a retired engineer who now preaches full time. You have our prayers!

I'm no expert in politics. But I trust your view on this issue because it's absolutely true. Thank you Mr Huckabee! I will be voting for Trump if he remains on the ballot! God bless you sir!

Mike, thank you for your commentary. Where did all of this hatred of Trump come from? It’s like the media started it as a pack of dogs during the 2016 election, and then like rabid dogs thereafter. I’ve never seen so much hatred anywhere in America as that expressed by Democrats and the main stream media over the last 3 years. Everything good that America has stood for has been destroyed by pure Demo hatred for everyone else. Are Demos so rabid that they can’t see through all their hatred?

Money talks with news networks, maybe we should be telling advertisers that we do not care for their part in this false news issue.

Please ask President Trump to quit using such "BAD" language. I ask you because you can get closer to him than the average person. Maybe he will listen to you. Otherwise he may lose this election due to so may evangelicals staying home saying they can't support someone who uses this kind of language.

    Thanks.

Mike the GOV. Thriving on your deep and insightful thoughts about the News Media. I have always thought news coverage should be telling Who, What, When and How, without the opinion of the reporter. But so many reports are worded in and slammed with jargon that you cannot tell where or when the "opinions" and "facts" are at.
The referee analogy is great. Should a journalist require the same training?

I agree with you 100% on the mainstream media. So many of us are able to see through their stories and their biased opinions. It amazes me that people still watch those networks. Even worse, there are those that take those stories (and they are stories) as the gospel! I'm not sure what can be done about what spews from those reporters mouths. I usually only watch the local weather from those stations. I don't believe they have twisted that......yet!

When you write, “ But how much time did NBC, CBS, ABC, AND CNN and MSNBC devote to this truly major deal that will have great impact on American farmers, manufacturers, and consumers? ZERO. Not one second. Nothing”. It may be true of ‘spoken airtime’ but it is NOT true of the written word, please see https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/10/politics/nafta-us-mexico-canada-trade-deal-differences/index.html?utm_source=CNN+Five+Things&utm_campaign=75315320db-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_01_23_03_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6da287d761-75315320db-94904669

Finally, a voice of reason! I remember Walter Cronkite once said you should NEVER be able to tell which party affiliation a reporter (I can't call them journalists any longer!) belongs to. Thank you Mr. Huckabee, for spreading ... TRUTH!!
