Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the gift that keeps on giving to Republican fundraisers and the Babylon Bee, is getting some backlash for posting a clueless video on social media. It showed some desert landscape she was driving past while snarking about how there aren’t many voters there, and citing the empty expanse of land as a justification for eliminating the Electoral College (which she has previously denounced as a “scam” based on “racial injustice.”)
As many critics were quick to point out, the fact that some states have more open space than New York City does not mean the voters there should be disenfranchised, nor does the fact that some land areas have no people on them mean that there are no voters in the entire state. You could probably even find a few vacant lots in Brooklyn, which at least now have vacant representation in Congress.
All her video really proved is that you can find big empty spaces in all sorts of places, even between some people’s ears.
On that subject, hat’s off to Jim M. for providing our Comment of the Day:
“Did AOC really want to dissolve the Electoral College, or just make it Tuition-Free? :-)”
