Bernie's dangerous ideas

February 25, 2020

It’s easy to dismiss Bernie Sanders’ grandiose pie-in-the-sky socialist ideas, but now that too many people are actually voting for him, let’s take a look at just how high in the sky his pie is flying (take that, Cole Porter!)

Bernie has been notably vague about how much his socialist transformation of America would cost or how it would be paid for, but like all purveyors of questionable, overpriced goods, he assures the suckers that they will pay for themselves in the long run. Greg Re at Fox News reports that Sanders released a “fact sheet” (quotation marks intentional) Monday night on the financials, and both the costs and his plans for paying them make the mind reel. It’s a ruinous cocktail of massive spending and government expansion into every corner of your life, paid for by a mountain of new taxes, mandates, lawsuits, deep cuts in defense, and wishful thinking.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bernie-sanders-payments-green-new-deal-medicare-for-all-explanation

For instance, he claims that the “Green New Deal,” which has been estimated to cost more than $90 trillion over ten years, would actually save $70.4 trillion over 80 years by averting climate catastrophe. No figures are given to back that up, but as Re notes, “the Trump administration's National Climate Assessment found that it was possible climate change could reduce the size of the U.S. economy by 10 percent by the end of the century, assuming no substantial changes in technology (including carbon-reducing innovations) or policy occur in the meantime.”

Aside from stressing the word “possible,” I’ll note that the end of the century is 80 years from now. Do you think there will be no policy changes or substantial changes in technology by then without massive government intervention (incidentally, in socialist nations, that always stymies technological advancement.) Think back to 80 years ago. How many changes in technology have there been since 1940? Today's young people laugh at the technology they see in reruns of "Friends"! And how many of the tech advances since 1940 have been led by the government? Sure, we learned a lot from the space program, but it was the private sector using that data that gave us home computers, smart phones, etc. It was only five months ago that the government finally updated the computers controlling our nuclear weapons systems so they no longer use floppy discs.

Elsewhere, Bernie seems to think there’s an endless supply of super-rich people just waiting around like cows to be milked by the government. Like a communist Old McDonald, he plans to have a wealth tax here and a wealth tax there, oblivious to the fact that people don’t get rich by letting the government take all their money. They will simply shelter it or send it overseas, which will pull it out of productive investments and kill US job creation, reducing federal revenue. But never fear: he’ll stop people from doing what they want with their own money by expanding and empowering the IRS and having a lot more audits (does that make you feel more secure?)

Some other “revenue enhancements” include suing and taxing the daylights out of oil companies (goodbye, affordable gasoline!)…a range of taxes on everybody to pay for “Medicare For All” (but don’t worry, he says this will replace what you currently pay for insurance – but it will also replace the choices you currently have with a one-size-fits-all government health care program)…and a “modest” tax on Wall Street stock and bond transactions that would not only hit everyone with retirement accounts, it also adds up to five times the average online brokerage fee. Ironically, the federal government won’t let brokers charge that much because they’d consider it to be ripping off consumers. But socialists always believe that when the government rips you off, it’s for your own good.

PS – This article also mentions some more blowback on Bernie’s praising of Fidel Castro for implementing a literacy program. Critics say that literacy was already rising in Cuba before Castro’s revolution, and the program he instituted was largely to indoctrinate Cubans by making them read communist propaganda. I wonder if Bernie’s response to that will be “So what’s wrong with reading nothing but communist propaganda?!”

And here’s a little more about what really happened to education in Cuba under the benevolent Castro regime…

As our late great president Ronald Reagan said: "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'" God help us all if any of these D candidates get elected!

If these school shootings continue...as they surely will if Christians don't, finally, step up to the plate...(as they failed to do when "they" took God and the He that is greater than the he they left in the school)...then a parent's greatest concern is NOT going to BE if the he of socialism robs them of a good "education" ornof godly biblical values, but, rather, what they will worry MOST about isnif he robs their child of his very life because what authors this he's curriculum is his HATRED for ANYTHING "good"...which would INCLUDE "education" !

Maybe if this crisis becomes bad enough, Christian leaders will stop putting money in beautifying their church buildings and will start putting it in starting schools where God will be welcomed inside its doors and invited to author HIS curriculum that breathes out His love in whatever academic subject is included IN His curriculum!

Bernie wants to distribute the wealth- well what about his wealth?? I suppose it is ok for him to be so rich- sad thing is our young people can't see through all his lies about making this a better world. seems there needs to be more history taught in schools and more parents stepping up to educate their children on how bad his policies are. in our opinion, he is a communist- if he doesn't like our country, why does he leave and go live in Russia or Cuba or where ever? I just want to know why he has been allowed to undermine our country like he has. Why hasn't he been "shown the door"?

It should be noted and widely distributed that when the government takes control of matters, they not only take your money to pay for it, they take your freedoms. This is not only true in health care matters where the treatment you receive may be limited by the government, but also in education where Sanders is promoting free tuition. When I, as a university professor, took students on educational tours in Germany I discovered that university studies were free to German students. The downside to that is that the number of students entering a particular field is limited, and students have to qualify for and be tracked into a particular field of study many years in advanced. The government couldn't/wouldn't allow and pay for everyone that wants to be a doctor (or engineer or whatever) to pursue studies in those areas. When the government pays your tuition, it will also tell you what you will major in and whether or not you will even be allowed to enter the institution of your choice. Students who like the idea of free tuition, should recognize that they will no longer be in control of their futures. This should be publicized broadly, in addition to warning students of the other drastic consequences of socialism.

Question, why is this idiot allowed to run as a democrat when he claims to be independent

Rich people do not get rich by being stupid. They can all close their businesses, move money and themselves out of the country and live quite well the rest of their lives. They are not going to "work" for the government. Jobs gone
Free college will be easy because they will implement IQ test to see who can go to the colleges in the first place. Only the "select" will attend. All others will work in some other government dictated job provided there are any.
Medicare for all will work because only the healthy will get the care. Sickly indigent, elderly, and handicap persons will be made "comfortable". Even for those who are allowed to receive care, there will be such a shortage of doctors with waiting rooms crammed full.
These young people do not realize that "choice" is not in the socialist vocabulary. Dictate, regulate, order, and prosecute.
President Trump and Fox News, and all conservative peoples need to fill the stages with people from Venezuela and any other countries with the socialist agenda to tell what it is truly like. Show examples. I have seen pictures of Venezuela and Iran before the dictators took over. They people dressed nice, towns looked good just like our cities and you would think you were looking at America. Now they are hungry, cities and homes in deplorable conditions, sick and dyeing from diseases that can be cured.
God help us that this does not happen to America.

I live on social security. So if I have to pay more taxes, I will have to live on the streets like the homeless people we have now. For someone who has never had a job other than the government, he sure thinks he knows how to run a business. How is it someone who has always worked for the government has the money to buy 4 houses????? I worked for years, and I still have to pay for my house. There isn't any way that I can afford more than the house I am trying to hold onto now. It appears that our public schools have FAILED!!!!!!! Of course that seems to be what the liberals wanted. I have forgotten more history than these young people have been taught!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it was interesting the support for Castro by Bernie for something like the literacy program. There would have been many slams if #45 POTUS provided a literacy program for minority groups. Why that would be racist.

Aside from the disastrous financial aspects of socialism. Historically Socialism lends itself to one party rule or one executive rule ( tyrant ). The socialists in Germany thought they could control a little known guy, who would bid to all their wishes and orders and he did. Until he took control of emergency powers by burning down the German Parliament ( The Reichstag ). And Adolf Hitler was out of control of the Nazi Party and and took control of all of The Nazi Party and Germany. Germany and all of Europe thought that he was our guy. The savior of poverty. Except for a few critics, one of which was Winston Chruchill but what did Churchill know.
The only way Hitler could afford socialists benefits and a strong military was by conquest of other nations and acquire their wealth.
How many times has this scenario been repeated? Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Castro and etc..
I believe Bernie Sanders knows this. But that siren call for power, control, domination, manipulation, the love of money and wealth are just too much for him to resist.

Bernie is 78 years old and long dead before any or all of these ideas could become law. Enough people on other sides of the aisle in Congress will then begin to modify them be introducing a wealth of alternatives, more add-ons or just outright objections. Without a champion of the causes, they will disappear.

I think we should send Bernie to Cuba or perhaps Venezuela to live the socialist life. There's an old saying. "If you can't do it then teach it". There are too many liberals teaching in our colleges and universities today teaching young minds socialism. Bernie would have different thoughts after living in these countries.

Thank you for your info. I always like your messages.
Bernie Sanders has lived in America and is now more than a millionaire, some of his wealth was made by questionable means, but not brought to justice.
I want to know does his Medicare for all include HIM and ALL members of Congress, and all members of Government and all government employees, If not he speaks with a “forked tung”.
If he likes the Communist government so much why is he still Living in America. He has not ever worked on a job, or did anything that could help America. It seems he has only had a government job to benefit himself, I believe he needs to go live and work for one of these Communist Countries he is trying to change America to. If he has America’s good in mind he would not want to subject the country to Communism.
I know the Lord is in charge of everything. I believe He is questioning the American people on our faith in Him in answering the question “In God We Trust”.
We the American people need to keep our faith in God that He will answer our prayers, unite us once again and let WeThePeople keep our Individual Freedoms Under the Constitution and the Rule of Law.
    God Bless America

    Some Republican might say - if you have a small business, say 10 million per year in sales, in rural America and you clear 2%, you're pretty happy - you get 200 grand per year. When Bernie's modest tax wipes that out, you decide you don't want to work for nothing and you close the plant, eliminating Bernie's tax bite and putting 50 - 60 people out of work. Not to venture too far into scatology, but, from an economics standpoint alone, Bernie is a real dumb-ass ;-}

Anyone who believes that Castro was capable of doing anything great should visit Cuba. Go down there and see what a great standard of living they have! Go see where and under what conditions the socialist government dictates that people live. See the best living quarters worse than the gettoes of Chicago and Detroit. Sure wish his followers could get a glimpse of the real world in which people under socialism live. Free stuff quickly loses quality.

I came from Cuba when I was 11 years old, 53 years ago. I remember how bad it was.
Cuba has been destroyed. I have family members still living there.
Shortage of foods, electricity, medicines. Hospitals are bad. Last month my aunt in law died and there was no mattress for her hospital bed.

Many college students are being indoctrinated by their college/universities professors.

We must speak the truth snd not the lies that people are hearing.

    We must stop Bernie Sanders!
    We must Pray!
