Brit Hume actually said it.

“His problem isn’t just that he makes these ‘gaffes,’ which he’s always done. You know, he blurts these things out that are totally impolitic. For example, you know, ‘poor people are as smart as white people,’or whatever, however he put that...that’s a gaffe...However...the stuff you see with him more recently; for example, not remembering that when he met with the students from Parkland High School, that he wasn’t still in office. He’d been out of office for more than a year when that happened. The fact that he misremembered that, that’s not a gaffe. That’s the kind of memory problems that people his age --- and, indeed, my age --- have all the time. And I think that the thing that may catch up with Biden over time, even among Democrats who would otherwise be for him, is the feeling that he’s --- that senility is overtaking him, and I think it is.”

Senility. There it is. That was Brit with Tucker Carlson on Tuesday night, and I didn’t even have to say who he was talking about, did I? Of course, this was Brit at his most typically self-deprecating; he himself has never shown the minutest trace of memory lapse that I could see, though he is indeed about as old as Biden. And it must be said that, as far as we know, no one has actually diagnosed Biden with any form of senility. We’re going only by what we observe. Keep in mind, this is a guy whose mind has been so free-form for so long that Mark Levin speculated about his having dementia as far back as 2012. Still, it’s clear that, in recent days, something about Biden is increasingly off.

When Tucker asked Brit if Democrat leaders in Washington share this concern about Biden, he replied that certainly they must. “He’s undone himself repeatedly,” Brit said of the countless gaffes and mistakes Joe Biden has made in past years during other administrations and campaigns. But now we see that Biden’s memory really may be failing him; for example, with the myriad botched details in the story about the Congressional Medal of Honor (or was it Silver Star?) hero not wanting the medal pinned on.

Commentary continues below advertisement

As the Washington Post reported, “In the space of three minutes, Biden got the time period, the location, the heroic act, the type of medal, the military branch and the rank of the recipient wrong, as well as his own role in the ceremony.”

When approached about this, Biden said, essentially, that the details didn’t matter, as they didn’t contribute to the point of the story. Okay, Joe, but if they don’t matter to the story, and you aren’t sure about them, then don’t put them IN the story. For example, if you don’t remember the name of the general, and his name doesn’t matter, just say “the general”; don’t insert the name of the wrong general. If you can’t remember the exact number of times you’ve been to a particular country –- which would be understandable –- then don’t just pull some number out of the air inside your head that may or may not be the right one.

And, for goodness sakes, don’t say “my word as a Biden” unless you really know what you’re saying is 100 percent true. Otherwise, your word as a Biden means nothing. Facts matter. Now, is it that facts drift around inside your noggin like the undulating colors of a lava lamp, or do you just not care what is true? Either way, it doesn’t make for good Presidential material.

Readers, I have to wonder how someone whose mind works like this –- for whatever reason –- is going to confront Donald Trump, say, in a debate? Brit was similarly doubtful. Sure, Trump tells his own tall tales, he said, but Trump voters already know and accept who he is. “If you’re gonna beat him,” Brit continued, “you can’t –- you don’t want to be a candidate suffering from the same kind of problem, although expressed in different ways.” I would suggest that Biden appears to be functioning in a very different way indeed. It’s even more evident when we juxtapose Trump, who has the energy and, yes, brain power, of men half his age.

So, will Biden be the nominee? “I think, Tucker,” Brit said, “that at this stage, we have no idea who the frontrunner is.” He’s right in saying we lose sight of how early in this process we actually are. He also pointed out that Biden’s lead in the early primary states is much smaller than it is nationally and that “the sentiment is very soft.” Everything is in flux.

So, what’s up with Biden? Sean Hannity, in his Tuesday radio show, made similar observations about Biden’s mental state. To paraphrase, there have been massive changes in Biden’s demeanor since he left the vice presidency in 2016, and especially in recent months. It’s quite dramatic; he seems much older and really weary and feeble at times, with a vacant expression in his eyes. This is very sad to talk about; I hope it's not true, and I don’t bring up the possibility as part of any larger motivation or strategy. It’s just something that’s THERE, the elephant in the room (though an elephant would, unlike Biden, have a perfect memory).

There are plenty of good reasons to oppose a Biden presidency apart from this. Take, for example, Gen. Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis’ assessment, as expressed in his new book CALL SIGN CHAOS, of Biden’s judgment in matters of national security. In Mattis’ opinion, the former vice president has been 100 percent wrong about...everything. (Well, I guess there’s something to be said for consistency.) Nevertheless, Biden always insisted he was right and wouldn’t even listen to experts, and that’s a bad sign.

And here’s another reason never to support him, from me: Biden’s readiness to play the race card. His shocking line to an African-American crowd, “They’re gonna put y’all back in chains," is enough, for me, to disqualify Joe Biden from even being elected dogcatcher in any town in America. I try to be a forgiving man, but no voter should forgive him for saying that, at least while standing in the voting booth. And that wasn’t senility talking; that was a very deliberate and scripted line, set up by the line before it. Maybe someone else wrote those words for him, but he’s responsible for what comes out of his mouth, and that was unforgivable.

Here’s a great column about the problems with Biden’s “medal” story from R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., who rightly points out that Biden isn’t the only Democrat candidate trying to win by trafficking in hogwash (though he used a stronger term than “hogwash”).

I believe that Biden has been on blood thinners since his brain surgery, as his doctor stated, 31 years ago, and it's part of his problem.

There is no way I will vote for Biden, not only due to his gaffes but can only imagine how foreign leaders would take anything he said seriously or even deal with him. Of course there is no way I will vote for any of the other democrats.

    Another Great Article Governor!
What is sad is that there are no safety valves to prevent political candidates and office-holding politicians from being in a position to make a life-changing decision. A serious position in any government must have some physical and mental health evaluations to ensure they meet the requirements. If law enforcement has these types of requirements during the selection process why not them? Unfortunately, this is wishful thinking because one main element hold strong in the politics selection process and that is political party corruption. Question for those who read this, ” What politician name immediately comes to mind who is currently holding office would you select for a mental health evaluation?”

Besides showing signs of dementia, I find him to be a dirty old man. He claims he is a Christian but he supports the sins of abortion and homosexuality. That is three strikes against him in my political game.

I think the Dems have placed every possible loser candidate out there as a stall. At the last minute, look for Michelle Obama to enter the race without having done any electioneering. She will be presented as some kind of savior of the party; the only one who can beat President Trump. The other candidates will fold . I'll bet that Mrs. Obama would not even debate our great President Trump because he would destroy her. Still playing my fretless bass and praying for our country. e/c

I could write pages of Donald Trump’s gaffs. I could forgive if that was the only issue.
I think you are laughable. And since I take it for granted that you are an intelligent person.
DONALD TRUMP HAS TAKEN LYING TO A BRAND NEW LEVEL. How can you be so brazen to accuse anyone of making mistakes when we have a compulsive liar for a President. You are completely aware of what Trump is. Shame on you and everyone who supports that horrible, horrible excuse for a human being. I have no respect for you. I used to. In fact, I am a card carrying Republican. Republicans have lost me along with every other Republican I personally know. Shameless—- all of you are shameless.

Joe Biden has senility problem, I'm a senior and I have memory problems, it comes with aging of our brain function, things don't fire like they did when we were younger, frankly I think Mrs Biden is pushing him, you know, Hillary would be there to run things, and maybe Obama, Biden needs to go home and get some rest, our Country deserves better, Trump 2020

I can't say Joe Biden is real sharp mentally Obama brought him along as vp to make himself look brighter than he is. The 2 of them made a lot of money thru the offices they held the blue print was left behind by the outgoing President. Together they made hideous decisions that would take years to fix. Obama still looks down on Biden they were not friends he gave him just enough attention to make him look alive. Obama also tried to hide him just like his managers are doing today. I will not call Joe a misfit just unfit for office.

I think it is possible Mr. Biden might have had mimi strokes which would cause he to confuse all the facts or even make up his own stories & believe them as truth. We need a President with all his mental faculties.

Doctors cannot reveal prognoses without permission of patient without patient's permission. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to observe his many gaffes, however, to figure out he is obviously displaying signs of dementia. And we certainly do NOT need that in the White House!

Biden is past his prime and he is definitely senile. I am 74 and I have problems with memory but I am not trying to run for President. I do have enough sense to fact check things I am not certain about. The things I can't remember that really bother me are the names of men in the picture of my grandfather's Bible Class at church back in the 1970s, men I admired and knew in our church. No way to fact check that and it is not really all that important, just frustrating.

This seems to be todays answer for everything the Democrats screw up. To them Facts have never mattered just the wrong impression they were trying to convey. Biden is the poor little boy no one listens to so he has to try to impress people yet he doesn't remember what it was he was suppose to have done or even How ,When or Where it even happened. At least the other losers are in todays time period this is their top runner who wouldn't even remember if he had pushed the Button.

President Trump likes to inflate the story a little bit even spins a tale or 2, but Joe Biden with all due respect should bow out. It would be dangerous for a President to have his people turn on him and have him do things he won't remember what he did or when or how, and to think if he would pick the wrong vice president and they push him out and they step in. (I am not an expert just my opinion).

The thought occurs to me that DNC may already know Biden is in early stage dementia/alzheimers. What he is doing appears to be the same thing my mother did; the doctors called it confabulation. They said it's very common when a super intelligent individual starts having holes in their memory. Apparently they try to fill in the gaps with make believe. The vacant looks are so familiar to me also - my mother would get that look so often, as if she was disconnected to everything. So if someone in that condition is elected, they then get declared incapable on medical grounds, and the VP takes over. So should he win the Dem candidacy, we would need to be VERY VERY careful of whomever they select to be the running mate, because THAT is the person the dems are truly trying to put into the presidency.

The line should be "Joe, go home." He was used by Obama as he scapegoat. Biden thinks of himself as something that he isn't...stable. The man is not there mentally and hasn't been for a long time. He has tried and tried to reach that position of being the President and it's alluded him every time. I would say the same this time, it will never be his and thankfully so. Biden should step down and fade away as a distant memory. He is an embarrassment to himself and to his family. So, I say to Joe, go home, spend what time you have on this earth with your family, and never get back into the political arena. Enjoy your retirement!

Though I would never, ever vote for him nor any other demorat... IS sad to see someone with developing dementia.
I watched that happen with my late Mom...and in my case, I loved my Mom.
    I don't even "like" Biden.

    Pelosi is not far behind.

" well as his own role in the ceremony.” For me, he was attempting to show himself to be praiseworthy for being 'brave' enough to go to the FOB (Forward Operating Base), although, inserted rather slyly as 'just part' of the story. Note, also, that this made up, in whatever fashion, false story was glued together and rolled off Biden's tongue in complete, believable continuity, with no hesitating gaffe included! The guy is a professional liar, probably at the stage of his life that he actually 'believes' everything he says....

I would agree fully, that Joe Biden is in no position to be a leader in this country and, presently, in no position to be giving public utterances whatsoever. My concern is the type of utterances being said. Senility, dimentia or any other negative condition associate with mental health is a brain function issue. We are of a generation that 'dismisses' such ailments as normal with age etc. There are so many folks of the "not-so-aged" that also suffer from "brain synapse disfunction" (my own term) Recovering from Lyme disease and studying my way to better health has brought me a greater understanding of just how many factors can cause such mental disfunctions. Mold toxicity (from stealth exposure even), infections and environmental toxins can all have these affects on brain function. It takes experts to find the underlying root cause of what is going on with each individual. A person in Biden's position would more likely dismiss the disfunction with defensive statements for self-protection, especially when he does not realize what is going on or how to address it. A very good functional medical physician should be able to disect his root cause. Senility, Alzheimers, Dimentia , though mainstream doctors do not seem to know what causes these labelled host of symptoms, are often discovered and treated by effective functional medical doctors. In the case with my circle, in my world, Lyme disease, a bacterial infection can indeed cause the dimentia, alzheimers and many other symptoms. I read this article from my perspective, from my journey of healing and helping others heal, and I see an undiscovered underlying cause. I also see a future for this fellow human that he will be ostracized by his arena and drummed out in humiliating ways. I do not agree with his politics at all. But my instincts as a fellow American still want to preserve his dignity and health. When George W started having "gaffaws" in his speeches, the media was also unkind to him. It is understood in the Lyme Disease community, that he was diagnosed and treated pretty quickly and recovered nicely. I'm not saying Biden has Lyme, but finding what his underlying cause might be would be better for him as a fellow human. Swimming in a polical arena is their choice and by doing so, open the floodgates for criticism. It is not for the infirmed. Somebody please refer him to a specialist to find his underlying cause and treat him respectfully despite his political views. -r

I don't mind people having an opinion even if it's different than mine. That's our freedom of speech and conscience. But I do mind infringing on my rights. I think the creator of Chick Fil A would mind that too were he still alive. Chick Fil A has as much right to their business as a gay t shirt designer or Oreo cookies with a special rainbow filling to honor Pride Week. What I REALLY am offended about is censoring, harrassing, bullying and trying to intimidate or outlaw any conservative thinking or speech that does not tow the line to a liberal left. Come on, America! Stand up for your rights!!

Fifty years ago, Biden, and the entire Democratic party were conservative. Biden has forgotten what he knew then and joined the band wagon of people who don't understand basic economics and don't understand basic principles.
