"Huckabee" Preview
Round up the family and call the neighbors: I have a new episode of “Huckabee” tonight on TBN that everyone will be talking about tomorrow. My very special guest (and don’t even ask how I managed to book her) is the White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders! It might seem a little odd interviewing my own daughter, but I promise we will get into personal areas that other hosts never touch on. And for once, the questioner won’t be yelling and making a spectacle of himself.
But that’s only the beginning. Kevin DeMerritt of Lear Capital will help you protect your finances from unpredictable economic turns. Singer-songwriters Nora Jane Struthers and Korby Lenker will tell us about their delightful hit, “Let’s Just Have Supper,” about bringing people of opposing views together. Best-selling author Anthony DeStefano will offer tips on how to argue with an atheist, and you’ll meet the most rip-roaring Huck’s Heroes on two wheels. All that and more is coming your way tonight on TBN at 8 and 11 EST (7 and 10 CST), and repeated at the same times on Sunday. Good economic news
There’s good economic news all over, but since much of the media have declared it their duty to ignore that and concentrate on negative Trump stories, I guess it’s up to me to tell you about it:
Thursday, Walmart stock leaped more than 10% after the company announced that its same-store sales growth rate since last year was nearly double predictions and their e-commerce had grown by 40%. The LEI (Leading Economic Index) rose by 0.6% in July, following a 0.5% jump in June. And on Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced yet another historic employment mark for a formerly lagging demographic: the summer youth unemployment rate (for 16-to-24-year-olds) fell to 9.2% in July. That’s the lowest it’s been since the summer of 1966, the year the Beatles released the “Revolver” album (gosh, I hate even to think about that being 52 years ago!)

I can think offhand of three possible reasons for the plunge in youth summer unemployment, all of them positive:
1. The economy is booming so much that employers no longer have the luxury of choosing from among 100 experienced applicants for every minimum wage job, the way they did during the Obama years (which is why I think the Democrats’ slogan for retaking Congress should be “MASA: Make America Stagnant Again!”);
2. Young people decided that working actually looks better on their college applications and teaches them more about the real world than all those extra-curricular activities and “lessons” that had replaced summer jobs in recent years (if so, then they’re right);
3. (And this would be the most positive development of all) More young people want to make money, which means they’ll learn the satisfaction of earning an honest paycheck for a hard day’s work, one of the best ways to start out on the right path in life. And when they get that first paycheck and see how much the government took out of it in withholding before they even had it in their hand, it will set them on the right path to becoming Republicans and capitalists and inoculate them from college professors brainwashing them with socialist rubbish. That can only be good both for them and for America.

Dog talk
How glacially slow does a news day have to be when you decide that examining the burning question of why President Trump doesn’t have a dog is worthy of national airtime? At least MSNBC considered that maybe it wasn’t merely that he is cold and mean and evil (though he is, of course) but also, as he’s said before, that he’s a germophobe. But then, that would throw doubt on all those icky salacious rumors from the Russian dossier that liberals delight in repeating, so never mind.
Yesterday, I referenced an old saying, that if you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Let’s update that to “If you lie down with dogs, you get up with MSNBC.”

Your Weekend Hypocrisy Round-up:
First, this is what incredibly ugly racism injected into a political campaign actually looks like. But for some reason, the media seem to be scrupulously ignoring this blatant racism from a Democratic candidate while they debate whether President Trump’s use of the word “dog” is a racist dog whistle.
And let’s not forget the claim of sexual abuse against a powerful politician that the media and the Democrats would rather pretend doesn’t exist…

Finally, let’s not overlook the shocking outrage of a politician shredding the First Amendment by banning the media from a public political event. Oh, wait, it was “Democratic” Socialist media sensation Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who banned the media from her town hall, just so participants would feel “comfortable” without the “distraction” of reporters? Well, never mind then!
Media petitions Judge
A coalition of seven media outlets including CNN, Politico, Buzzfeed, the New York Times and the Washington Post petitioned the judge in the Paul Manafort case to unseal the names and addresses of the jurors. The judge denied the motion, saying that the jurors felt scared and afraid, and likely with good reason.
The news organizations may appeal, although one would hope they might have the good sense and common decency to drop it. They should think twice about why it would be necessary to subject private citizens who are just doing their public duty to the possibility of violent threats and reprisals from the deranged, anti-Trump left. Hasn’t the left done enough “unmasking” of private citizens lately?
For the record, the media outlets argued that revealing the jurors’ names and addresses is common in many trials. Their motion reads, “Here, there is no reason to believe that extraordinary circumstances exist that would justify keeping jurors’ names sealed — particularly after they have rendered their verdict…This is not a case involving organized crime or other circumstances in which the potential for violence or corruption requires an anonymous jury.”
That obtuse statement tells me these media outlets need to read some media outlets other than themselves. Then they might know that these days, simply calling for treating non-leftists civilly carries the potential for violence.

Wolf out
Fox News reports that the “comedian” who was hailed by Hollywood as the next big thing for insulting my daughter and other Republican women at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and treating abortion as a suitable topic for a jokey musical number just got word that Netflix is canceling her show after only a few months. My congratulations: this is the first time I’ve ever heard anything about her that actually made me laugh.

Wow!
This story just might make your neighbors look at you with a little more respect for having all those old rusty cars up on blocks in your front yard. Then again, probably not.
